My Most Favorite Comical Speeches in Films

Few of my most favorite speeches in films. They have entertained me thoroughly.

I really loved the way he spoke Hindi, (“ek shlok yaad aa rahe hain..”etc) and salute to Chatur. Omi Vaidya was the best performer in the film. His mannerisms and getup was perfect when in college as well as in later half.

The way Charlie talks, his coughing while speaking German, his emotional talk to Harry (his commander) – and the English translation of the speech in between is very hilarious.

Paresh Rawal and Priyadarshan at best. I had a hearty laugh at the line “kuwe mein kudega kaun?”
(watch from 7:00)

Police Academy:
Love the voice modulations of the actor – he was simply great.

    @ritz,

    Thanks for the post.

Chatur’s speech was hilarious and I had posted Chatur’s speech as Scene of the Week some time back.

    Link

The Charlie Chaplin video does not play here. Probably need to watch the Malamaal Weekly and Police Academy to get the context for the other two speeches.

I didn’t find Chatur’s speech funny when I saw. May be because I saw it late, I knew for most part the content. I was cringing when Aamir was preempting the speech. This probably to make us dumb audience understand.

ps _ I just saw it again, it is exaggerated in mannerism but funny. Still didn’t find Aamir’s preempting good.

Good point on the preempting. I think Aamir, Madhavan and Sharman’s reaction scenes were shot separately and they are not actually listening to the speech. I think Sharman is the worst with his fake reactions in that scene.

Bade Achhe Lagte Hain – A sop on Indian channels. Most of the lead shots are superimposed. I never find two lead characters facing the camera. Essentially they have various shot of one character and some double with back with screen.

ps – Don’t ask me why I see such an atrocious sop πŸ™‚

        • sputnik 10 years ago

          LOL on your ps πŸ™‚

Had to watch Pavitra Rishta, Saraswati Chandra for the same reason πŸ™‚

Nowadays I am watching some atrocious movies which I don’t even mention in Movies you watched This Month thread πŸ™‚

          • Ipman 10 years ago

Movies you watched is meant to mention such atrocious films actually. that makes it a lot more fun. you should know how to present your experience after watching it . thats all! it makes up for a better reading /recco than a genuinely good film πŸ˜€

Can’t recollect that many comical speeches from movies.

This one is hilarious from Scary Movie 4. Warning: NSFW There is some nudity

This one from Marx Brothers movie Animal Crackers is ok.

    • Ipman 10 years ago

” NSFW There is some nudity” checked the video due to that warning and almost puked. sputnik – you should atleast clarify whether its male or female nudity. whata waste

      • sputnik 10 years ago

Ha Ha. Most of it is strategically blocked male and female nudity. There is just some male nudity.

Thanks for the scary movie 4 scene. It really made me happy and laugh. Nicely done.

I am among the few who find 3i chatur speech horrible. it is a cheap C grade humour meant to appeal to the lowest common denomination.if it were a part of an akshay or salman film , it would be called one by many.

malamaal speech is funny ,but not sure if its one of the greatest. but then i dont remember which was a last great comedy speech. i would have to look back at some raju srivastav laughter challenge videos πŸ˜€

Aamir’s sense of humor is awfully crass and gross to say it mildly. That is one reason why 3 Idiots attracted a large audience.

        @bored
with all due respect, what Aamir has got to do with the scene?

        • Bored 10 years ago

LOL, so Aamir is no longer a creative head in his films?

        • Ipman 10 years ago

as hithere said, the preempting part in the scene seems to be aamirs idea. this is not the only film where he has done this. he overexplains scenes in all his movies. remember talaash climax spoon feeding?

          • Bored 10 years ago

Bollywood in general loves spoon-feeding. Its sad that Aamir isnt above it.

These are not from films and also dont exactly qualify as ‘speeches” but i like these two :

I don’t know whether it qualifies as comic, but the Pyaar Ka Punchnaama monologue from Kartik Tiwari is unmatchable. Makes me go literally LOL every time I see it. The Chatur speech from 3 Idiots is just puerile humor- the kind that makes Hello Brother pale in comparison. It was funny the first time for sure.

Kartik Tiwari monologue from Pyaar Ka Punchnaama is good.
