After days of sparring, actors Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut have taken their battle to courts, each slapping on the other legal notices making nasty allegations.
42-year-old Hrithik, who was the first to send the legal notice to his “Krrish 3” co-star, has demanded that Kangana apologise in a press conference and clear the air about their alleged affair which he firmly refutes.
A defiant Kangana, 28, said she was not a “dim-witted” teenager and refused to apologise. She instead shot off a counter-notice to Hrithik warning him to take back his notice or face a criminal case.
The charges and counter-charges, which earlier were flying across in social media, are now contained in two legal notices – first issued by Hrithik seeking an apology from Kangana for allegedly referring to him as her “silly ex” in an interview, and the second sent by her charging him with a clumsy attempt to cover up their relationship.
“Since quite sometime you (Kangana) have been insinuating and trying to create an image within the film industry through print and social media and in public at large that there was some relationship between our client (Hrithik) and you,” the notice sent by Hrithik’s advocate Deepesh Mehta on February 26 said.
“Our client states that it is needless to mention that there was no relationship between him and you. You are trying to propagate a false idea and thereby gain publicity with ulterior motives and malafide intentions,” Hrithik’s four-page notice claimed.
In her 21-page reply on March 1, Kangana said, “She is not some dim-witted teenager who has been smitten and that whatever happened between the two of them was with full consent of both parties.”
“It is pertinent to record that your client throughout supported my client and fully involved her. He also did not make any attempt to block her. There is no communication from him to my client objecting to an emails. This proves that he received the emails with his participation and consent,” her notice said.
Kangana’s lawyer Rizwan Siddique told PTI, “Hrithik doing anything like this is the silliest thing he could have ever done. He has made a fool of himself. It’s been more than seven days we haven’t got any reply from them.”
“We are waiting for them to react to the notice first as we have the facts and law on our side,” he said.
Hrithik’s lawyer said he does not want to comment at the moment on being asked about Kangana’s notice.
In his notice, Hrithik contended that he and Kangana acted only in two films and besides professional relationship there wasn’t any social, personal, platonic and/or intimate relation between them.
According to Hrithik’s notice, the duo met on May 24, 2014 at Karan Johar’s birthday bash when Kangana approached the actor and thanked him for sending her an email appreciating her work in ‘Queen’.
“To this, our client told you that he has not seen the movie yet. Our client further clarified to you that the email ID from which you received the mail was not his and he gave you his real email ID,” the notice said, adding that the actor has already lodged a complaint with the Cyber Cell of the city police about the said fake email ID in December, 2014.“On coming to know of Hrithik’s real email ID, you (Kangana) sent a barrage of emails to him. Our client tried to ignore all the emails (total 1439) to him even though it amounted to mental harassment and stress.
“Besides sending emails to our client you have also been telling people in the film industry about your affair with him and then called our client a ‘silly ex’,” the notice said.
On her part, Kangana claimed that Hrithik had himself provided her the email ID on which they were corresponding with each other till May 2014.
“My client (Kangana) states that it was Hrithik who wanted to communicate from a newly created ID because of his impending divorce. In an effort to safeguard his name, image and reputation your client (Hrithik) time and again malafidely and in mischief hacked my client’s email ID and deleted all the mails sent by him,” Kangana in her notice said.
Hrithik alleged that during the outdoor shoot of ‘Krrish 3’ Kangana in a drunken stupor created a scene in front of him and that her sister Rangoli later apologised.
“Your sister told my client that you are suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome and requested him to not tell anyone. Our client kept his word till date,” the notice said.
Hrithik has further alleged that Kangana had also got in touch with his father Rakesh Roshan who also conveyed that the actor was not interested in her.
The actor has demanded that Kangana apologise within seven days of receipt of the legal notice or else face criminal action for defamation.
Refuting all the allegations levelled against her, Kangana has claimed that she was not a stranger to Hrithik or his family members.
“In January 2011 and 2012 Kangana was invited for your (Hrithik) sister’s birthday parties. In 2013, you, your wife and your parents attended Kangana’s birthday party and then in September 2013 Kangana attended your father’s birthday party. All these parties were private affairs,” Kangana said in her notice.
“Your client (Hrithik) is living in his own illusionary narcissist world which starts and ends at self-aggrandising. Kangana in her interview about her silly exes never mentioned the name of your client (Hrithik). It was your client’s own unwarranted and uncalled reaction that made people look at him and assume that the ‘silly ex’ could be your client,” her notice said.
She further refuted Hrithik’s claim that she was suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome and said that she was not suffering from any such mental disorder.

Close friend of the Queen star reveals all the ups and downs in the relationship and how Hrithik chased Kangana from Switzerland to Paris.
Paris. After meeting his parents in London he flew over to meet her in the French capital. He had brought the ring along. This was the proposal: “You may think this is coming out of a rebound. But I have no doubts about our future happiness because you are the only person who has never judged me. And I have felt a strong connection with you from Day One.”
That was January 2014. In December 2013, Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Roshan had made their split public and he had immediately called her to ask her to marry him. Kangana, a close friend told Mirror, obviously had doubts whether Hrithik was proposing on the rebound. After the assurance, she said “yes”. She had to.
But by February 2014, he had started avoiding her when he resumed shooting for his action thriller Bang Bang. Their relationship went through crests and troughs throughout 2014. By December, it was officially over but it was only in March 2016 that the torn pieces from the Ex-files became public.
On Wednesday, Mirror had reported how both Kangana and Hrithik had sent each other legal notices — him asking her not to refer to him as his ex in public; Kangana daring him to reveal their email exchanges.
Soon after, a close friend of the Queen sat us down with the promise of revealing “almost everything” about the relationship between the two.
“It started out as a friendship between two people who were both going through a rough patch, during the shooting of Kites in 2009. His marriage was in trouble and his relationship with his Kites co-star, Mexican modelactress Barbara Mori, wasn’t working out. Kangana was going through troubles of her own and they found solace in each other’s company and became good friends,” the source said.
The friendship blossomed into something serious when Hrithik began pursuing her for Krrish 3, his home production. “Even though Kangana’s career was not exactly shining at the time, she said no to Hrithik. She felt rather uncomfortable with the attention he was showing,” the friend said.
Hrithik, however, wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. After being pursued for six months, Kangana said “yes”. “That’s when they got into a relationship after he confided in her that he and his wife (Sussanne) slept in separate bedrooms. However, Kangana could never talk about the relationship openly as Hrithik had told her categorically that he would never divorce Sussanne,” the friend continued.
Realising that her affair with Hrithik would always remain a clandestine one, Kangana took off to Milan once shooting for Krrish 3 ended, alone – much like she would do in her award-winning film Queen later. In real life, she went on a shopping spree, all by herself; in reel life, she went for her honeymoon, all by herself.
In December 2013, however, a call from Hrithik took her by surprise. He told her that he was divorcing Sussanne. Kangana was in Switzerland at the time and Hrithik in the US. “She was on top of the world as he also told her he wanted to marry her after the divorce,” Kangana’s friend said. But doubts cropped up in her mind. She didn’t know whether Hrithik was serious or not. She kept saying that maybe he wanted to be with her on the rebound,” the friend pointed out.
To put all her doubts to rest, Hrithik popped the question when she was in Paris, the city of love. But From then, the relationship mostly went downhill.
“In the first week of February, soon after he resumed shooting for Bang Bang, Hrithik stopped communicating with her. Kangana took off for a vacation in New York where she heard rumours about his growing closeness to his Bang Bang costar Katrina Kaif. On February 14, she confronted him about the rumours when Hrithik called her and asked him to be honest with her. He only wanted to know if anyone was aware of the engagement. When Kangana told him that she had informed her family about it, he said that she had misunderstood his intentions,” the friend said.
Kangana realised that her groom had bolted before reaching the shaadi ka mandap. She took it in her stride and moved on.
“But Hrithik wasn’t done yet. Soon after Kangana won the National Award for Queen in March 2014, he called, begging her to forgive him and take him back,” the friend said.
Enter, the superstar
The award changed Kangana’s life in more ways than one. Not only was she being commended for her solid acting skills and straying off the beaten path, a young superstar had started wooing her. The two had hit it off at an awards function. “But Hrithik felt insecure. He confronted her and asked if she wanted to tel him something. She told him not to be insecure about their relationship, but that didn’t appease him,” the friend said.
“The final blow to their on-again, offagain relationship came in May 2014 at Karan Johar’s party. They hadn’t spoken for a couple of weeks. When they met at KJo’s party, Kangana put her hand on Hrithik’s arm. He reacted angrily and asked her how could she have set up a date with another actor for the following Wednesday,” the friend said.
“Kangana didn’t know what had hit her. Had the two been gossiping behind her back? How else could Hrithik have known about the meeting, she kept asking as she took the elevator.”
It must have been the email
“Kangana then realised that the young actor had shared his email address with her. She realised that Hrithik could have hacked into her email account may have been impersonating him. Two days later, her fears came true when she met the young superstar again and he asked her out for coffee –he was clueless about the episode with Hrithik which meant that he was obviously not gossiping behind her back.
“She then pointed out to Rangoli (Kangana’s sister and manager) that some of her mails had disappeared. She always knew that Hrithik was very tech-savvy. Shaken up by the, she called up Rakesh Roshan and told him that if her suspicions were true, Hrithik could land into a lot of trouble for cybercrime.
“Papa Roshan was really shaken by the conversation and told her that he would speak to Hrithik about it. She deleted the account and decided to wash her hands of the affair,” the friend said.
“But Hrithik finally managed to get his way. He and Kangana were back together. This time she gave him the password to her new account so he could check on her mails officially, but that didn’t make things any better between them. Even though industry friends believed them to be in an intense relationship, referring to her as “bhabhi” in private, Hrithik preferred to project a Casanova image after his divorce came through.
“Kangana was also upset that while Hrithik wished everybody on Twitter before the big release, he never bucked her up for Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Katti Batti. Obviously, Hrithik had gone back to his secretive ways.
“Hrithik had also started keeping an eye on her. He had a man posted outside her apartment to report on Kangana’s movements, knew who she interacted with, which flight she was taking, where she was going etc.
“She knew that she was in a downward spiral. She was emotionally attached to Hrithik, having been in a two-year relationship. At the same time, she wanted to date a man who was unencumbered; somebody with whom she could go out and not be confined behind closed doors. She wanted to end it. But Hrithik was not ready to let her go. He made things ugly,” the friend said.
By this time, the rumour mills were working overtime.
“There were blind items appearing in gossip column, stories put out that he had her thrown out of the race of contenders for Aashiqui 3 when he was in talks with Bhushan Kumar and Mohit Suri for the musical. There were also murmurs of her sending him erotic texts and nude pictures of hers and his co-stars messages to stay away from him.
“Sure they exchanged intimate texts like any normal couple does, but she never texted his co-stars. We never imagined that he would stoop so low to tarnish her reputation,” the friend said.
Asperger’s syndrome
He has also brought up the subject of her suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome. The friend points out that he heard about the ailment from Kangana herself after Reema Kagti approached her for her film, Mr Challu, in which her character suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome which prevents her from lying even though the hero is a compulsive liar. “Hrithik visited her that night and she told him about Reema’s script. He responded by pointing out that she also had the same problem and couldn’t lie about their relationship. After that he often provoked her by mentioning the syndrome, even bringing it up in the notice, despite knowing that it is not a bipolar, medical condition and only reflects a rare straightforwardness,” reasons the friend.
“She wants to move on, maybe she can find happiness with someone else. He thought he could intimidate her with his legal notice, get her to make a public apology. But apology for what? What did she do wrong,” the friend asked.

Hrithik’s Public Statement
Now Kangana’s lawyer issues a public statement.
Mr. Hrithik’s statements made to the media are nothing but efforts to gain public sympathy. He cannot wash his hands off the matter now after having criminally threatened my client and having intimidated her, without any provocation. He also cannot deny the fact that my client never named him anywhere and it was he himself who claimed to be “Silly Ex” in his notice. Besides his own acts of stating in the media that he would rather ‘date a Pope’ gave enough fodder to the media to start speculating. How can he blame my client for all his own acts of commissions and omissions.
Further, he should have refrained from making absolutely false statements in his notice. He specifically claimed that he does not know my client socially at all. If that were the truth, then how was he attending my client’s private birthday party with his entire family and my client was attending his party besides his sister’s and his father’s birthday party as well. There is enough proof on public platform, which sufficiently proves that Mr. Hrithik Roshan’s is lying.
Pursuant to my counter-notice there are now new claims that my client was not co-operating with the police to help with investigation of Mr. Hrithik’s complaint. These claims are as false as his other claims. The fact is that my client was never dealing with any imposter and given the background of the matter, it is very lame on Mr. Hrithik’s part to even suggest that. Besides my client was never ever asked for any co-operation in the said matter by any person for obvious reasons. The fact that Mr. Hrithik waited for seven month to lodge a complaint says it all. Now pursuant to receipt of my notice the complaint is once again being looked into by Mr. Hrithik Roshan, only as a face saving strategy.
It is also worthy to note that Mr. Hrithik Roshan specifically claims to have received 50 unsolicited emails per day from my client for about 601 days (as calculated from 24th May 2014 upto 16th February 2016). Accordingly he should have received more than 30,000 (thirty thousand) emails from my client as against his own alleged claim of receiving only 1,439 emails from my client during the said period. This shows that there is non application of mind even while making allegations. At least make efforts to do the calculations. Besides if Mr. Hrithik Roshan was really receiving unsolicited emails from my client then why did he not prudently block my client and went on receiving my client’s emails for such a long time. The answer is obvious.
His own actions speak a lot and I need not say more on behalf of my client Ms. kangana Ranaut. Most importantly I would like to point out that at least Mr. Hrithik Roshan should have bothered to ensure that he has a good reason to send a Legal Notice to my client. However as expected the notice is absolutely baseless, unsubstantiated, unwarranted and uncalled for. There is not even a case of defamation made out against my client and he is issuing a Notice for defamation without application of mind.
He needs to immediately realise that my client Ms. kangana Ranaut does not need Mr. Hrithik Roshan’s name to garner publicity or attention, as she is a renowned public figure herself.
I sincerely hope that the matter ends here and better sense prevails.

Leaked: Kangana’s emails to Hrithik give a shocking new twist to the case
Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut’s legal wrangle doesn’t seem to end anytime soon. In a shocking twist to the tale, several emails which were submitted by Hrithik to the cops, have been brought to the fore.
Over the years, Kangana sent hundreds of mails on Hrithik’s ID, but investigations have proved that not a single message or text has ever been sent by Hrithik. Hrithik drew flak for claiming that the actress is suffering from Asperger’s syndrome, however in the emails, she has repeatedly claimed that she has Asperger.
According to a report in DNA, on August 17, 2014 the actress emailed him, “Sometimes I feel so unsure of everything. Does our love really exist or it’s just a phantasy? Is our love for real or is it an imaginary person that I talk to? Why don’t you ever talk to me? If our love is real then why is it intangible? Real things are tangible, aren’t they? What if someday I meet you and you tell me that you haven’t received anything, you don’t even know me, you never loved me. What will I do then? Will I ever recover from that revelation of that fatal reality. Will I get another chance to start all over again? Or will my life just be a broken dream?”
Few days later, Kangana wrote, “Baby I feel when we start to date, I won’t like to see your pics and news on the net like this. It confuses me and can cause complications in our relationship.”
Another email by Kangana reads, “Your song is really good. I saw it again. I hope you didn’t feel bad about what I wrote. I am sorry is I made you feel bad. I am really unhappy that we don’t talk. Also I found out that I have Asperger’s Syndrome. I am stressed about it. If you get time read about it. I have 98 per cent symptoms. I realised there are many things about me that ain’t normal. I am so confident all the time even in moments of incompetence and failure. It seems unnatural to me and everyone around me.”
On September 3, 2014, Kangana wrote, “It’s just too hard to be sending these mails and never hearing back.”
A month later she said that she would love to meet him instead of googling him. The mail read, “I get up in the morning and the first thing I google you. Try to find one new picture, one new interview, any news to start my day. I hope this routine ends soon and instead of googling you I could make a call to hear you, hear your voice, talk to you and start my day.”
On October 9, 2014 the actress shot an email which read, “Actually I am glad you didn’t pick up. What would I say? How will I sound? What is the right way of saying hi? I had so many questions in my mind that I was on verge of hysteria. I love you jaan.”
On November 2, 2014, Kangana emailed the actor, “Baby I can’t believe I met you. You look so sexy. I am in bed now but I got stuck outside SRK’s house for 30 mins. It’s so crowded out there. I don’t remember what all I said. I was so nervous, this is the thing I am a different person on my own but when I am with you, I am so nervous like a teenager. I was getting knots in my stomach, thats how you make me feel. I love this feeling. I wonder what will happen when you will pull me close and kiss my mouth. I am sure I am gonna faint.”
Kangana’s email on November 13, 2014 reads, “Also I am thinking when are you shifting to your new house baby? When your kitchen is ready I want to set it up. I don’t want anyone else to do it. You will need staff there. We will have to interview people for that. It’s a test and trial method. I’d like to train your staff on your requirements.”
A police source on the condition of anonymity told DNA, “We have gone through everything and it is now clear that Kangana was communicating with an imposter. Hrithik’s forensic report show no association with email.com. It’s evident that she carried forward her communication of 6 months with the imposter. He has received over 3,000 emails from her and we have established that no mails were sent to her from his email. His phone records prove that he has made four calls to her in seven years. His passport copies prove he was not in Paris when she claimed they’d got engaged. We are convinced he is innocent.”
In a statement issued by Hrithik’s lawyer on April 21, he said, “Let’s not get confused in this war of words. We will prove that our client Hrithik Roshan has had no relationship with Kangana Ranaut. We have presented solid evidences of this nature to the investigating authorities.”
He further added, “They (Kangana’s team) should present any credible evidence if they have to those who are authorised to investigate this matter. We are not interested in playing the game of notices and counter notices, we are only pursuing this to bring out the correct facts and that will happen through bonafide investigation. The case is not about man vs woman, powerful vs weak, it’s about lie vs truth.”
Meanwhile, Kangana has set April 30 as the date to give her statement as a witness in the alleged imposter case, filed by Hrithik. The two have been at loggerheads since Kangana referred to Hrithik as her ‘silly ex’ in an interview.
