Himesh Reshammiya’s song ‘Mann Ka Radio’ was in the news because of his new voice. But there was more to this song. The song’s beats are copied from the Savage Garden song ‘I Want You’. What’s worse is that they have even copied the music video of that song. Here is the song from the similar part.
Savage Garden was an Australian pop duo that enjoyed major international success between 1997 and 2000 and who have split since then. In July 1996, the duo released their debut single “I Want You”. The single became the highest-selling single by an Australian artist of the year. The song was played quite often on Channel V India and featured in the weekly countdown.

well….Its not really a copy….The similarity is only with the basic supporting beats (which you will find with many songs).. Even though I am sure himesh copied the beats after listening to “I want you” but he did a good job in improvising. It sounds more like an inspiration than a copy.

Although what I meant was one cant really say that the two songs are similar on a breezy listen …Its only when one really tries to find similarities or has a good ear for beats that they can realize.

Savage Garden songs were quite popular in India in the 90s. And as I said in the post ‘The song was played quite often on Channel V India and featured in the weekly countdown’. If I remember correctly it was No 1 on that countdown.
Its a song that I like a lot and I had a audio cassette of that album. And when the video is similar you don’ even have to try to find similarities or have a good ear for beats 😉
Actually, I like this song a lot too… I dont remember being on top on V’s countdown or not but yes, I had heard its many a reruns on both MTV and Channel V
