2016 Oscar Predictions

Here are my 2016 Oscar Predictions – who I want to win and who I think will win.

SpotlightBest Picture
Have not seen Mad Max: Fury Road. Brooklyn should not have even been nominated for Best Picture. There is nothing great about this movie and it does not deserve the Oscar nomination for Best Picture. The Martian should not have been nominated either. Its the usual cliched Hollywood science fiction movie. Bridge of Spies is a good movie but its not the Best movie of the year. The Big Short is an excellent entertaining movie but I don’t think it will win the Best Picture. Room is very good movie with an excellent first half but the second half is not that great. Spotlight is an excellent movie based on the Boston Globe investigation of the US Church abuse scandal. The Revenant is an excellent movie on survival and revenge. Its a tough one between Spotlight and The Revenant and the Oscar for Best Picture could go to either one. I personally want Spotlight to win Best Picture but I think The Revenant is going to win Best Picture.

————————

1TheRevenantBest Director
Have not seen Mad Max: Fury Road. The Big Short is a very well directed movie but I don’t think its going to win Best Director. Room is very well directed movie too but I don’t think its going to win Best Director. Its either Alejandro González Iñárritu for The Revenant or Tom McCarthy for Spotlight who is going to win Best Director. I think Iñárritu is going to win Best Director for The Revenant because its excellently directed and also because its such a hard movie to make.

Best Actor
Bryan Cranston is very good as Trumbo but I don’t think he is going to win Best Actor. Matt Damon getting nominated for Best Actor for The Martian is a joke. Michael Fassbender is good as Steve Jobs in the later half of the movie but he should not have been nominated for Best Actor either. Eddie Redmayne is very good in The Danish Girl but I don’t think he will win Best Actor. Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent as Hugh Glass and I think he is going to win Best Actor.

————————

BrieLarsonBest Actress
Have not seen Joy or 45 Years so cannot say if Jennifer Lawrence or Charlotte Rampling deserve to win Best Actress. Cate Blanchett is good in Carol but its almost the same performance from her Oscar winning performance from Blue Jasmine. Saoirse Ronan should not have even been nominated for Brooklyn. Brie Larson is excellent in Room and I think she should and will win Best Actress.

————————

markruffaloBest Supporting Actor
Christian Bale did not even deserve the nomination for The Big Short. Mark Rylance is excellent in Bridge of Spies but I don’t think he will win. Sylvester Stallone is very good in Creed but I don’t think he deserves the Best Supporting Actor Oscar but he has a chance of winning too. Mark Ruffalo is excellent in Spotlight and so is Tom Hardy in The Revenant. I want Mark Ruffalo to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor but I think Tom Hardy might win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

————————

aliciavikanderBest Supporting Actress
Jennifer Jason Leigh is excellent in The Hateful Eight. Rooney Mara is good in Carol but I don’t think she deserved that nomination. Rachel McAdams is good in Spotlight but I don’t think she is going to win. Kate Winslet did not even deserve a nomination for Steve Jobs but she keeps getting nominated for Oscars. If she wins that would be stupid. Alicia Vikander is excellent in The Danish Girl and I think she should and will win Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

————————

Best Original Screenplay
Have not seen Ex Machina. Bridge of Spies is good but I don’t think it is going to win. Inside Out getting nominated for Best Original Screenplay is a joke when its idea is copied from Herman’s Head. Straight Outta Compton could win only if they decide to award it for diversity’s sake. Spotlight deserves the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and I think it will win.

————————

Best Adapted Screenplay
Brooklyn does not deserve the nomination at all. The slow and boring Carol does not deserve the nomination either. The Martian getting nominated is a joke. The Big Short has a good chance but I think Room should and will win the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

————————

Best Film Editing
Have not seen Mad Max: Fury Road and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But from the rest The Revenant is good but I don’t think it will win Best Film Editing. Spotlight is very good and so is The Big Short and the Oscar could go to either one of them. I want Spotlight to win but I think The Big Short is going to win.

————————

Best Original Score
Have not seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Bridge of Spies has a good score. Carol’s score is ok. Sicario has a good score too. I think Ennio Morricone will finally win an Oscar for Best Original Score for The Hateful Eight.

————————

Best Cinematography
Have not seen Mad Max: Fury Road. There is nothing great about Cinematography of Carol. Cinematography of The Hateful Eight and Sicario is good. Cinematography of The Revenant is excellent and I think it should and will Oscar for Best Cinematography.

Good one . More or less agree with your list . i don’t think there’ll be any major upset in acting category. Leo and Brie larson will win well deserved oscar . I just hope Mad max doesn’t win anything big . It was nothing great . Looks like two in a row for Inaritu . Personally i liked Spotlight more than revenant. Hope it wins one major award at least .

Have not seen Mad Max but I don’t think it will win anything big. It hasn’t won anything big at any of the awards functions.

Yeah I think Innaritu will win two in a row. His direction was good and it has great cinematography but its a very brutal movie and not an easy watch.

Yeah I personally liked Spotlight more than The Revenant too. Spotlight is a great movie with a solid story and great performances but it does not have any visual flair like The Revenant. So it depends what the Academy voters will go for.

I wanted Spotlight to win Best Picture and was rooting for it. So I am happy that it won. I thought that they will award it to The Revenant though.

Got Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Original Score right.

Got Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing wrong. The Best Supporting Actor was an upset. I don’t think anyone expected that.

Got 7/11 right. So not bad.
