Phata Poster Nikhla Hero Has Good Start

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero had a good start at around 40-50%. The collections were good at places and decent at other places. The opening was less than last week’s Grand Masti which had a very good start of 60-65% on average.
The best opening for Phata Poster Nikhla Hero was in UP, CI and Rajasthan with multiplexes in Punjab and West Bengal taking a ordinary start.
The film is no doubt the biggest opening of Shahid Kapoor whose films that have done well have mainly done so on word of mouth after a slow or mid level start. Phata Poster Nikhla Hero also does not have the screenings that it should at metro multiplexes with Grand Masti providing competition and Lunchbox getting a plenty of screen time (6 shows on average) in the metros for a film of its type.

B.O. update: ‘Phata Poster Nikhla Hero’ has decent start!

PHATA POSTER NIKLA HERO had a decent start, with certain centres opening fairly well [45% to 50%] and some centres opening below the mark. While the opening is much better than Shahid Kapoor’s last two films, it remains to be seen if the business gathers momentum from evening/night show onwards. The other release, THE LUNCHBOX, opened very well at several urban plexes.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero has had an average first day at the box office as it has been let down by business at multiplexes. The single screens have recorded good numbers but the multiplex business is well below the mark especially Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab, Kolkata amd Bangalore.
The film should manage to cross the 6 crore nett mark and maybe even go towards the 7 crore nett mark which are below average numbers, the film had to be around the 9-10 crore nett mark to make it a good opening day.
There is potential for it grow as opening day is low but it will need huge growth to come with respectable numbers and the sort of growth needed is hard to come by with these type of mass entertainers.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero had a low first day collecting around 5.25-5.50 crore nett on day one. The film managed a fair start at places but major areas like Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab did not start too well and also did not pick up. The business of the film is better in places like Rajasthan, CI and Bihar but even these circuits can’t be called good.
The collections in Delhi and Punjab are too low and in these areas it is being challenged by Grand Masti despite that film being in its 8th day. The collections of Phata Poster Nikhla Hero should be better on Saturday as multiplexes will go up but the growth will be no where close to what it needs for a respectable weekend.

phata poster BO was expected. it always looked like a damp squib right from the first promo. happy for gm success. bruna should get more films
Grand Masti- deserves to be a success. What would one expect from a sex comedy- vulgarity blended with comedy..right? and Grand Masti delivers just that… For fans of American Pie movies..this is a desi version of that.
Film becomes a little stale in second half but is still enjoyable in parts…The first half however..Is outright HILARIOUS…Some scenes are too funny..especially that Ritesh Deshmukh-ID card silhouette scene ..I literally fell down laughing.
If second half was a bit funnier..this would have been even more enjoyable.
If you dont mind this genre… then go for this one…

That ID scene was howlarious (If I don’t apply logic what Reitesh was doing). But even in sex-comedy genre it could have been better.
ps – If you like similar genre then One movie I recommend is “hot tub time machine”

just finished watching grand masti.fully agreed with your review.it is total unapologetic sex comedy and almost brilliant at it. story is similar to masti. acting is good. dialogues are its real strength 😀 just when i thought the film is beginning to lose a bit of steam towards the end, the visuals in the last few scenes before ending are epic 😀 its a must watch if you are a fan of this genre
Coming back from PPNH .. this is as good and as bad as APKGK .. nothing more nothing less. And Shahid is treat to watch .. probably his first movie after Kaminey where he gets scope to perform and succeeded well.
If you liked APKGK .. then go for this too. For me, probably I will not mind watching again on TV .. though APKGK bored me on satellite watch.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero improved business on Saturday but not enough to make a huge difference to its box outcome. The business on Saturday was around 6.25-6.50 crore taking its two day total to around 11.75 crore nett.
The film improved collections in most circuits especially at multiplexes as the first day was very low at multiplexes.
Despite the growth on Saturday the weekend business of the film will struggle to go over 20 crore nett which is a poor return for film like Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. The best business for the film is coming from places like UP, Rajasthan and Nizam.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero grossed around 19.50 crore nett in the first weekend. The film had decent weekend growth but opening point was too low therefore overall weekend collections remained low.
The film saw its best business in single screen circuits while areas like Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab and if these places don’t perform it is tough for the film to go anywhere.
The weekend trend was decent so the weekdays can remain steady but the collections will be on the lower side which means a low lifetime total.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero collected around 2.75-3 crore nett on Monday. The collections were okay compared to Friday with the film not dropping too steeply but as with Friday the Monday figure is low.
When a film does not have the weekend it should the weekdays tend to remain steady with low collections until it losses screens on its 8th day. This may not be the scenario with Phata Phoster Nikhla Hero as there is no major release this week so it has until next Wednesday to collect what it can when Besharam releases.
The four day business of the film is a little under 22.50 crore nett and the week should go to around 30 crore nett but 30 crore is really what it needed to do over the weekend.

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero had a low first week as it collected around 30 crore nett. The weekday collections were fairly steady but low. The first week collections are actually the highest ever for a Shahid Kapoor starrer beating Mausam which had collected 28 crore nett in week one.
Phata Poster Nikhla Hero has done best in Nizam and Andhra while collections in East Punjab and West Bengal were lower than other circuits comparatively. Delhi city was also poor.
The shows of the film have come down in week two despite no major competition and the film will have an uphill task reaching 40 crore nett espevially as its really just a five day week with Besharam releasing on Wednesday.

The collections of Grand Masti at the start of its third week and Phata Poster Nikhla Hero at the the start of its second week are at the same level.
Grand Masti collected around 1 crore nett on its third Friday and it was a similar figure for Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. Grand Masti is likely to come out ahead over the week as it should have more growth over the weekend and hold better on Monday.
Phata Poster Nikhla Hero grossed 10 crore nett in Mumbai circuit in week one with a share of 5.25 crore while the minimum guarantee the distributor paid was 8 crore. The maximum recovery is looking to be 6.25 crore.
