Jism 2 Crashes On Monday

Jism 2 crashed at the box office all over on Monday as it collected around 2-2.25 crore nett. The writing was on the wall on Saturday but even still to be over 70% down from Friday is a first.

The total after four days including paid previews is around 23.50 crore nett and the week is likely to finish in the 27-28 crore nett range and lifetime business at 30 crore nett.

The film will put most of its distributors in the red by big sums with Mumbai alone accounting for a 2 crore plus loss. The producers made good money as they sold as they managed to get good rates. The final scenario for the film is similar to Ferrari Ki Sawaari which was big winner for producers but big loser for distributors.

A question to all the BO experts.

Why is BOI talking about distributors losing money (they were talking about it the other day too)? Aren’t they supposed to be all about collections per print?

Sputnik, because they don’t follow any criteria….Just talk about what they feel like…. though in absolute numbers they are still the best.

      Doga,

Yes, their collections might be best but their commentary is totally inconsistent – for the same collections they will bash one film using one criteria and praise another film using another criteria.

hope it won’t have any affect on sunny leone’s filmy career. 🙂

BOI commentary is a joke and they clearly have an agenda to run down GOW. They are comparing a working Wednesday (in the middle of a week) collections to Friday – the day when movies normally release?

Gurgaon: Gangs Of Wasseypur Part 2 v Part 1

Gangs Of Wasseypur part 2 collected less than Gangs Of Wasseypur part 1 in Gurgaon on day one. Gurgaon was the best performing centre across India for part 1 and it is still running in its 7th week but still the second part opened lower than the first one due to the first part having limited appreciattion. Below are the first day collections of both parts of Gangs Of Wasseypur in Gurgaon.

    TOTAL
    Gangs Of Wasseypur 1 – 12,97,601
    Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 – 12,07,550

I don’t think there’s any difference betwen Wednesday and Friday release. Even Friday is working day. Yes, normally films release on this day but its not that people were unaware of GOW2’s release. So I think its fair enough to compare the opening days!

I disagree – its not the same. Fans of Anurag and people who are following all GOW related news may know that the movie is releasing on Wednesday but rest of the aam junta will assume that the movie is releasing on Friday.

When movies release on Friday, Saturday is a holiday for many nowadays. So people can go see a Friday late evening show as they don’t have to go to work on Saturday. But they have to work on a Thursday.

I agree. But it is also true that core following of the movie is small. I think overall it did commensurate business based on star cast, subject and execution.
