just watching what srk said, it seemed he wanted to do something else and ended up doing something else in career 😀
Be it the darr input that he gave to yash chopra,or his awkwardness for doing dtph and his self-proclaimed desire to be known as action hero and not a romantic one. I think sub consciously he knows he connects with romantic roles the most and hence the choices of films that he made. He may argue he wants to be Don but he is only interested in the ‘coolness’ associated with a slick character like Don. He likes the gimmicky part of being an action hero. Someone who would be more interested in posing with the nun-chakus than actually using them because its cool to pose with it.it makes you look like a tough ninja fighter.
I am convinced that the army scenes in jthj are going to be pure gimmicky and half-baked. Just watch that blast scene in the promos and watch srks catwalk.you need no more.
It happens with a lot of actors – Amitabh said in 1975 that he will not let others typecast as “Angry Young Man” and we know what happened. Jackie Chan also wants to be known as a actor 😉
I don’t think he does romantic movies because “sub consciously he knows he connects with romantic roles the most”. He does romantic movies because that work the most at BO for him and because his fans expect and like him in those movies.
Don or James Bond are not hard hitting action movies. They are all about the coolness.
I also said the same thing in the other post “Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma Interview on Jab Tak Hai Jaan” – “He says he asked to add some action scenes – so the army part might be wannabe or may not be integral to the plot.”
but neither amitabh nor jackie chan shy away from the fact that they are action heroes. infact they take pride in it. srk has always said he doesnt want to be known as the romantic hero. but his choice of films says otherwise. he wants to do action but likes only the gimmick associated with it.That is why i am unsure as to what he wanted from his career.
Baba i think you are looking too much into his interviews. He has been seen many a times where he has taken lots of pride on him being the most romantic actor/star. As per my knowledge of him he doesnt speak same things in his intvws maybe cos he givs too many so tries to make everything look different. Yes he likes DON character very much and he’s been saying so since 2006 from DON time but nowhere he has actually meant that he didnt desired/liked to be a romantic hero(in seriousness)
As for JTHJ army act we have to see it yet but i am very confident and won’t be surprised if its praised more than his London avatar cos traditionally wenever he has donned desh bhakti avatar he’s done remarkable job with it so i think his army avatar will be most appreciated thing of movie if it does well..
srk has said this many times.not just this interview. now also he asked yash chopra to add action scenes in a romantic film.
