Glad to see my two favorite movies of last year, Madras Cafe and Shahid winning some awards, the best being for Director of Madras Cafe Shootjit Sircar. Also glad to see my favorite actor winning best actor award 😀

“glad to see my favorite actor winning best actor award” so this was the reason to make a separate post for such trash news/award when there is already one post on it

Ipman, you are wrong. This was not the reason for separate post. When there can be a post for nominations list why there cant be a post for winners list? Secondly, I mentioned about SRK in humor. I do not think anybody except Rajkumar Yadav deserves every kind of best actor award.

Well at least they gave Madras Cafe Best Director and Ramnath Goenka Memorial Award and Shahid Screenplay and Dialogue Awards.

Poor Dhanush did not get critics award or popular award and he was robbed of Best Debut Award too which they gave to Sushant.

I would dare not go to the main awards. even something as technical as action is laughworthy. “Best Action – Manohar Verma (Madras Cafe)” MC had any action? LOL

      • shan 10 years ago

I dont think Action means stunts and physical action only. Action covers all scenes where there is some “action” happening on the screen. In Madras Cafe, that would be the militant attacks, the assassination attempt and the multiple raids/investgations doen by agents. I dont agree Madras Cafe had the best action of the year, but to answer your question, yes, Madras Cafe did have action. I think they gave it to Madras Cafe just because it’s action was more “realistic” and that is the buzzword for most of these awards to appear classy. Again, I dont agree Madras Cafe had the best action of the year.

i agree that action covers even the gun scenes/assasinations. but how much of it did MC have? a couple of gun scens may be and many explosion scenes. you cant give a movie best action movie bcos of fake explosions created by vfx especially when in the same year, a true blue action film like commando had released.

          • shan 10 years ago

Agree. Commando had better action for sure. But what will Screen gain by awarding a small film? 😉

          • Ipman 10 years ago

thats the whole point 😀 and i dnt care if they award it or not.its just fun bashing and making fun of the winners/nominees. I dont think anyone takes it seriously, not even the award winners!

Best Actor (Popular) – Shahrukh Khan (Chennai Express)

Hahahahahah Okay! 😛 This one award brought down the credibility of everything else 🙂 Dhanush deserves every popular/critics award this year. And if the argument is Chennai Express made more money and was more popular, then Dhoom 3 (unarguably) and Krissh 3 (arguably) made even more, so Aamir or Hrithik should get the “Best Popular Actor”. They should really rename the award to “The Actor We Want To Give It To” Award 😀

Dont know if any of you noticed this, but in 2010, when Salman was given the Best Actor for Dabangg, the Best Actor Popular (SRK for MNIK) was touted to be the most important award of the show, with Anushka Sharma who was presenting actually saying those very words “And now the most important award of the evening – Best Actor Popular”. It was also given after the Best Actor award, so it became the last award of the evening. Until that year, Best Actor had always been the more important award. The year after that, again, Best Actor Popular remained the more important award since SRK won it for Don 2. The year after that, suddenly Best Actor became the more important award, since Ranbir won it for Barfi and Salman won the Best Popular for Dabangg 2. And now this year, there is no Best Actor category at all, only Best Actor popular and Best Actor Critics, so Best Actor popular will be touted as the most important award in the ceremony. And guess who won it? 😀 😀 Sab moh maya hai 🙂

LOL. good observation 😀 i was thinking that these awards can introduce few more catoegories to make more stars happier taking cue from golden globes. May be something like – best actor in a movie grossed highest by producer numbers, best actor in a movie grossed highest by BOI, best actor in a movie which was supposed to flop, best actor in a movie based on whos hosting tonight and so on

      • shan 10 years ago

LOL, love the new categories. Although I still feel Golden Globes are much better since they divide all major awards in only two categories – Drama and Musical/Comedy. Although unnecessary, this at least is valid and consistently differentiated every year. Unlike Stardust awards and Screen awards which keep doing flip-flops every year to suit their interests. 😀

Screen Awards were supposed to be the real awards judged by a Jury. The first year 1995 (for 1994) their awards were really good and the jury was headed by Dilip Kumar. The next year the jury was headed by Vijay Anand and SRK won Best Actor for Ram Jaane 🙂

They started this Best Actor (Popular) in 2009 and Akshay won it but was not happy with it. The Best Actor (Popular) category was not supposed to be the real deal. The real deal was supposed to be the Best Actor (Jury). Yeah Jury giving Best Actor to Salman for Dabangg and SRK winning popular for MNIK was totally opposite that year.

Aha so they renamed Best Actor to Best Actor (Critics) LOL. So they essentially became Filmfare Awards. So much for all that BS when they started the awards.

Screen was taking away all the eyeballs as they were the first awards every year and it felt like all awards are following them as many of the choices were similar. But looks like Filmfare has moved up to Jan 24th this from Feb/March.

      • shan 10 years ago

Screen is marginally better than Filmfare, but still a sold out award 😀 Thing is if they start awarding the really good actors/films, none of the popular people will get many awards, maybe barring Irfan or Nawazuddin. There has to be a jury that looks beyond BO and awards performances and movies, not people.
