Grand Masti Has Very Good Opening
Friday 13th September 2013 11.00 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Grand Masti had a very good opening with collections around 60-65% on average. At places the film opened to full or near full houses. The collections were very strong in major cities of Gujarat and Maharashtra while collections in the East were lower comparatively.
The film was banned in Punjab and Haryana until late on Thursday when the ban go lifted so with no show listings in east Punjab saw a mixed opening with some theatres opening well and others not so well. Overall it was a strong start.
The film will put up a very solid first day but still growth will be important for this film as the genre has such a short life span and collections do come down quickly.

Grand Masti Is Fourth Best Opening Of 2013
Friday 13th September 2013 11.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Grand Masti has take the fourth biggest opening of the year in the morning shows in terms of occupancies. Basically it is the best opening of 2013 after Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Race 2 all three big budget films.
The opening is the fourth highest but the screen count is the eighth highest so whether the first day collections comes out fourth highest of the year remains to be seen. If the screen count was in same position as the opening then it was 100% guaranteed that it would record fourth highest opening day of 10 crore nett plus.
It should still go over 10 crore even with a lower screen count as the higher collections should take it over the films which had wider releases.

B.O. update: ‘Grand Masti’ fetches thunderous start!
By Taran Adarsh, September 13, 2013 – 14:21 IST
GRAND MASTI has embarked upon a solid start everywhere. The morning and noon shows were packed to capacity at several centres, while the occupancy was in 60% to 70%+ range at other places. The film has had one of the best starts of the year. The other two releases, JOHN DAY and HORROR STORY, got completely marginalized by the GRAND MASTI wave across the country. The two films had a dull start, although HORROR STORY was slightly better at places.

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Grand Masti had a very good first day with business around the the 12 crore nett mark. It was the fourth highest opening day of the year after Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Race 2.
The film was very good all over with slightly lower collections in West Bengal but even that circuit was still good overall. Rajasthan was huge with collections hitting the 1 crore mark in that circuit. The opening is also one of the highest ever for a comedy film with the highest being Ready at a little over 13 crore nett and a couple of other films collecting over 12.50 crore nett.
The film is set for a solid first weekend in the 35-40 crore nett range depending on what happens on Saturday. As the start was so strong the growth over the weekend may be limited.

if this can make 40 cr weekend, then 75-80 cr lifetime is on the cards which is extraordinary result for this kind of starcast. this can be Indias equivalent of American Pie series

Grand Masti Has Excellent Weekend
Sunday 16th September 2013 12.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Grand Masti had an excellent weekend with collections in the 40 crore nett range. It is a huge number for the film as the weekend has meant that most of the distributors have recovered 80-90% of the money paid for it over the weekend.
Mumbai was sold for 8.50 crore and the weekend share will be 8 crore. East Punjab fetched 2.40 crore and the share is a little under 2 crore. The film has scored all over with Mumbai circuit being the stand out performer with around 15 crore nett business.
The film may find it tough to sustain over the long run as at many places the Sunday growth was not quite there but the job has been done by the initial and the film is a big winner.

Grand Masti held up very strongly on Monday collecting around 8 crore nett on Monday as per early estimates. The collections at single screens were on par with Friday at some centres even better on Friday, multiplexes dropped around 40% which is still better than the norm.
The film has grossed around 48 crore nett in four days and should close the week on around 65-66 crore nett which is huge for the film. The first week total may be bigger than all out and out comedy films till date apart from Salman Khan starrer Ready. The business on Monday was steady across the board with all circuits doing well.
Grand Masti has emerged a big hit all over India.

Grand Masti May Hit A Century
Saturday 21st September 2013 10.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Grand Masti may eventually go and do business of 100 crore nett with the stumbling block if there is one looking to be Besharam. Grand Masti has collected around 3.25-3.50 crore nett on its 8th day and with the likely weekend growth it could go to around 15 crore nett for the weekend.
This would put it in the 88-89 crore nett range after two weeks and then there will be a shortened third week of five days as Besharam releases on a Wednesday.
The way it has sustained the odds look in its favour to reach the 100 crore nett mark but if Besharam was a Friday release then that 100 crore nett mark would look even more certain.

Grand Masti Grosses 83 Crore In Two Weeks
Friday 27th September 2013 09.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Grand Masti has collected over 83 crore nett in two weeks as it added 19.50 criore nett in its second week. The drop was a little lower than 70% which is good with this genre.
The film did not get the jump on the second Saturday and Sunday that hit films normally get probably due to the fact that the family audience is keeping away but the film maintained well on all the other days of the week. In some centres the second week collections are similar to what what Phata Poster Nikhla Hero collected in week one.
The film will not reach the 100 crore nett mark and its target is probably to cross the 93 crore nett of Race 2 and become the fourth highest grossing film of the year. It will be shortened week with Besharam coming Wednesday but Grand Masti will have a healthy third weekend due to lack of competition.

Grand Masti Grosses 90 Crore In Three Weeks
Friday 4th October 2013 11.00 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Grand Masti has grossed around 90 crore nett in three weeks as the third week added around 7.75 crore nett in week three. The collections of the film went very low on Wednesday as its screenings dropped. A city like Delhi had just 25 shows approx on Wednesday which makes it impossible for the film to collect. Until then the film had seen steady business from release.
The crash for Besharam could see the film have a slightly longer life now as it could get extra screenings at some theatres, it is sure to have more shows in the next change of programming which should give the film a chance to add a couple of more crores to its total.
