“Challenging social mores perhaps isn’t that difficult as it is made out to be. Five siblings from a Jat family in Balali village of Bhiwani district have been doing it with little fuss for over five years now. What keeps them going in a male dominated sport like wrestling is the unflinching support from their family.
Hailing from the conservative Jat community, Geeta Phogat, Babita, Ritu, Priyanka and Vinesh took to wrestling on their father-cum-coach Mahabir Singh’s insistence. A wrestler himself, Mahabir braved severe criticism as he made his teenaged daughters slug it out along with village boys in the dangal. The siblings not only proved their family’s unorthodox viewpoint, but created a sort of record by winning five gold medals for the country in international championships in 2009. Geeta (55 kg) and Babita (51 kg) won golds in the Commonwealth Championships held at Jalandhar, while Ritu (44 kg), Priyanka (51 kg), Vinesh (49 kg) followed up their elder sisters’ feat with golds in the Asian Cadet Championships in Pune.
Twenty-one-year-old Geeta, a 2007 Junior Asian Championship gold medallist, says, “There were no girls to practice with, so our father and uncles made us practice with boys. It was tough, but our family would not listen to anybody. With time it has proved beneficial as it has helped us build power and strength.” ”

because aamir khan will never ever make a film that truely experiments or even play a character which is truley risky. he speaks a lot about “pushing the envelope” in his interviews but never does that in movies. his movies and roles are all well calculated and planned to be palatable for masses. he played guy pearce role in ghajini but was a superhero in it who could throw people like paper pieces. in dhoom 3 he is the villian but also the hero and so on. he makes really simple movies which are easy to understand and follow the formulaic arcs whether its character or the theme of a film. dangal again looks like a safe formula film which will have songs, dances unncesaary glorification of characters and they wil call it “biopic” or based on true life.

It’s Official Finally Confirmed Now. Check out the first look pics of Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotar, actresses who will play Aamir Khan’s daughters in his next film Dangal.
Fatima is a Mumbai girl, has acted in a few films and a TV serial and dabbled in photography. Sanya, born and brought up in Delhi, is a trained ballet dancer.
Dangal directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is inspired by the story of former wrestler Mahavir Singh, from Haryana’s Balali village, who built an `akhara’ in his own house and coached his daughters to historic wins in what was primarily a man’s sport then. Geeta Phogat was India’s first female wrestler to win gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 55-kg free-style category. Her sister, Babita Kumari, bagged the silver. They became role models in the conservative Jat community and a `dangal’ pit was dug in Bhiwani’s Government College for local female grapplers to hone their skills.
I thought the traditional Indian wrestlers specially from an older era did not have 6 pack abs.

Aamir Khan To Develop Six-Pack Abs For First Half Of ‘Dangal’
We have already reported that Aamir Khan will be next seen playing a wrestler in upcoming film Dangal and that the Perfectionist has put on oodles of weight for the role. However, what many might not know is that Khan will also be losing weight and developing six-pack abs for the first half of the film, which will be shot after a few months.
Talking about his preparations for Dangal, Aamir said, ”The weight that I have put on is for the second half of the film, where I will be seen playing an aging wrestler. However, for the first half of the film, where my character will be seen in his prime, I will be seen having the kind of physique that I had in Dhoom 3.” Readers might remember that Aamir had played a gymnast in YRF flick Dhoom 3 and had developed a lean and muscular physique for the same.
Dangal is based on the life of former wrestler-turned-coach Mahavir Phogat, who trained his teenage daughters to become wrestlers. Dangal is slated to release during the Christmas weekend next year.

Aamir Khan Now Weighs 95 Kilos. Wife and Mother Are Worried About Him
“I am 95 kg right now and that’s enough for the character. My breathing has changed… when I tie my laces, my stomach comes in between. After 20 seconds, I have to (take a long) breath,” Aamir confessed
Actor Aamir Khan, who keeps losing and gaining weight for his films according to the demand of his movie’s scripts, says it worries his mother and wife.
The actor has now gained weight for Dangal, in which he plays a wrestler, and weighs 95 kgs at present.

“My mom and my wife are very worried about my health as they feel I am playing with my health. Even I feel the same,” he added.
The actor says he will lose weight and will be back in shape once the project is over.
“By December (2015), we will finish the shooting, and in the next five months I will lose weight and then have one more schedule in the month of June, where my character is young. When the film will come to an end, I will be back to the PK look,” revealed the actor who flaunted an eight-pack in Ghajini.
