Bakwaas song I didn’t like it.
Typical Rohit Shetty’s movie that lacks Music and looks like he has not changed anything from his previous works nor tried to utilize the power of Srk’s Stardom except kicking Akshay out of the competition.

This is not at all Expected from a SRK starrer.Although Ra1 was Crap but it had Good Music nd this time Even d Music is on the Lower Side.We have heard d Title song played in d Background of CE trailer nd Now 1234 ,Its totally Disappointing .Since First Song Promo always plays an imp Role but CE team seems to be HIT Wicket with Mr. Subramanium’s Flat voice in Title song nd Now 1234 .Srk seems to be fully Relied on Rohit this time.Rohit films songs have been average but it had a Celebration cum Comic go happy Tune to it but that too is missing from CE.I just hope it doesnt Get worse.

This is called a real classy & massy item song, it will be huge at Single Screens, a chart-buster song for sure. Talking about the quality of song, It’s a bit under-whelming but still much better than the craps like ChintaChinta tha, Munni, Sheila and aaya aaya bodyguard. And yes, SRK has very good dancing moves here after a long time, he looks in great form, Choreography is, no doubt, the best by margin amongst all the item songs I mentioned earlier.
Not bad at all. atleast the beats and music is authentic. Would have liked more if there were Kuthu dance steps. Had read that they mellowed down the dance to suit family audience – but Kuthu steps would have been better and more comical for SRK esp.
@cr7 – yes Ayiyya song had “onnu randu moon naal” (1234) but the dance was more fun.

the song is in total sync with the theme of the movie… typical south indian masala item song… not bad at all liked it..SRK looks as energetic as ever.. dont know who that item girl is… sync the movie is based in south india, the songs ought to have the language used in madrasi movies…

I think they were going for the Appadi Podu song which SRK had danced on with Shriya in IPL 2011. They should have probably bought the rights and reused the song.

After multiple listening i think this song is one of the best song of it’s type. Not as a good as balma,sheila,aiyaa or munni but way better than the likes of pritam pyare,dhinka chika,chinta ta ta . A definite chartbuster . couple of songs like this will help CE to open big . Although record breaking opening is inevitable now with ouatmd rno longer in the fight.

agree that aiyya song was way better but was still average….
it might have worked for people from south or those who are aware about south dancing….
but that aiyya song was not at all appealing towards north and central indians which was reflected by dismal collections of aiyya in north and central india while south belt opening was still average.
this type of songs won’t appeal people in north n cental india………for making it appealing they should have modified it like what dinka chika did with a north singer like mika.
same happened with Aa ante amlapuram some people said its decent song but again it didn’t appeal north n cental indians .i can give 4-5 more such examples where these types of songs failed to appeal north indians.
they should have tried someone like mika or any other heavy north accent to make it more appealing just like what pritam did with dinka chika and sajid-wajid did with chin ta ta chita chita song..!!

I disagree completely. China ta ta or dhinka chika was a different case – this one is about Chennai and song based on folk instruments/dance. I dont agree that just to appeal to some people songs should be compromised – afterall the name of the film is “Chennai Express”. Same was the case with Ayiyya. The essence of these films is they are based on north / south diversity in their theme so it is imperative that they show some authenticity. Ready or Rowdy Rathore were not based on that.
If say a movie is based on love story between a UP and Mallu – would one modify a Banaras thumri to sound more like a Rabindra Sangeet just because Mallus may take to Rabindra sangeet more than a Thumri? Its ridiculous.
Regarding Aa ante – it was very big hit in western India as well. The new song failed because it was paler version of earlier song and singer was lame.

but would like to add ITEM SONGS ARE IN ITSEF A BIG COMPROMISE…and you are trying to find authenticity in a movie where their are kathak dancer in chennai…
since you seem to be more familiar with southern culture u would be able to point out at least 2-3 loopholes as compared to so called authenticity …….

I think its one of the worst songs to have come out in recent times….It starts to go in a certain tune and then changes and then during the whole time tries to find/establish a punch tune but fails to do so..dont know what Vishal shekhar were thinking..
Cr7 mentioned its better than aa re pritam pyaare….Well its his taste and thats fine but I feel where even a mahabakwaas song like “aa raha hai dekho Bodyguard” is 10 times better than this is that at least it had a somewhat catchy tune to it….
I can’t even begin to compare Aa re Pritam Pyaare–as it was at least a 100 times better than this piece of Crap. It had a fantastic zing to it and punchline of sorts.
Srk’s own Ra.one’s mediocre criminal song is much much better than this.
This one is in the league of Saans probably even worse than that.
and btw , if I heard correctly– are they really saying”Bum Shake/Booty Shake

If I wanted to find out loopholes I can find many . I had already talked about the loopholes in my earlier comment – like Kalaripayattu(fight style) and Kathakali(dance) which is not from TN – which is shown in title song. I also talked about the accent of Deepika which is not authentic 100% – you can find my comments in the first trailer thread.
And NO, here I dont think Item song is a compromise here at-least – such songs are part and parcel of most tamil movies so this song gels well with the theme of CE.
Besides, its a Rohit shetty film which is supposed to be fun and unless I find too much deviation I wont mind it. I would criticize it if I find too much deviation or too much stereotyping or fun at expense of southies (like what SRK did in Ra.One; OSO). But so far I have found the promos to be OK except that title song thing.
PS: Btw, FYI- Kathak is a north Indian dance form and is one of the eight classical dance forms recognized in India. You should be knowing this …especially since you are from north and sound so much allergic to Item songs just because the movie is releasing at the same time when Akki movie release is near.

i know ,just got confused between kathak n kathak-ali as they are quite similar in 1st 5 letters.
as far as that akshay thing goes it has nothing to do with that…..as i have already expressed my views on vishal shekhar’s music limitations(that are visible in this song)…..what i meant was pritam or sajid wajid would have adapted this song in such a way to appeal across region rather than its limited appeal now..!! 😉
I liked the song. Very danceable and catchy, but that’s just my opinion.
This is complete song with some ‘Behind the Scene’.
The song is really one of the best of it’s genre as cr7 said earlier, I like especially the last antra portion with some crazy beats, amazing.
Mate and Cr7 have seem to heard “all” of the songs of this “Genre” in only 2-3 days. 😀

Well the song is a fast paced and I hope the movie too will be. Got the feeling of Ishq Kameena in this song with more south flavor. After many years I saw the energy in SRK which he used to carry say till 2005. Liked the overall setup and choreography though lyrics should have been better. Its good to see that there is no skin show as such for this song and is purely aimed at masti and entertaining song.

OSO and cocktail had some very good songs.Matching cocktail and oso would be tough for any album.

I mean it is not that Sup is the 1st guy who comments about SRK others I even dont bother reading, but problem is when there is a tag of being “impartial” and when I know the guy from quite some time now. Hates Mai Hoon Na but likes Tees Maar Khan, hates DDLJ but loves YJHD, I mean you don’t need much of intelligence when you have such reviews of movies. It makes the problem in objectivity quite visible. I mean I am not saying that I do not accept his views, I do and I do not have problem with his individual taste and preferences but problem is when he starts questioning about others taste. Doesn’t it sound like hypocrisy?

I (talking abt myself) like SRK’s sense of humor – be Baadshah or Iss raat ki…but i find his energy and mannerisms totally repulsive and unwanted.
For me Chennai Express does NOT look like his kind of film (which I would have loved to) …but he seems to be OK here ..I dont mind Rohit Shetty – and I think this is totally his kind of film. I loved Golmaal3 and Singham – I think I will enjoy this as much as I enjoyed G3 (I had already said this).
Hope SRK gets his act right this time and matches upto talents of Mithun and Tusshar or Shreyas (the legendary maa-ki scene)

Dagadu to abhi bada aadmi ho gaya hai. Apna gaon waisa hi hai jaisa jab wo chod ke gaya tha. Though one good thing has been the connectivity to Pune and Mumbai have improved a lot, but not much “in” the city. As you may be aware there are many rumors about certain developments but they never materialise, such rumors have been on for years. It feels bad to see this same state of the city since more than a decade. Don’t know when the city will get the attention and will get its due.

I liked ‘Saanwar Loon’ but not much(Great Vocals by Monali Thakur who sounded EXACTLY like Shreya Ghoshal).
‘Zinda Hoon Yaar’ is a Favourite bcz I’ve always loved Trivedi’s “Slow-Dreamy sort-off Voice” in the BG Score.
It’s just fits perfectly(DevD/ Udaan/ KPC).
But ATM, I’m in Love with Rahman’s Music in RNJHANA a bit too much so won’t be able to make a Fair Assumption until I watch LOOTERA.
