A star brings in his fans. The majority of the audience come in to see their star. Hence the biggest fatal mistake a star can make is to lose himself in the character. Unless the star and his personality shines through the character he is playing, the movie is doomed. In a lot of way a star has the responsibility to play a character convincingly, but also to not disappoint his fans who come come to see him (the movie is just a vehicle).

An “intellectual” film maker in Bollywood who typically makes audience friendly movies, advices his actor to not forget those sitting in the front benches. He alerts the actors when they are acting too good, basically telling them to take the audience along, not to lose them.

Clearly on the blogs, one reads different views. On one site which is run by a person who cannot even express a simple one line thought in less than a million words, a man so ignorant about film making that in his delusion he thinks he not just a NASA scientist but NASA himself, you hear what would make BB successful. All of them foolish,sophomoric nonsense. All claim BB does not appear to be as good as they expected, as if they expected or expressed any good about any Salman Khan.

The simple fact is that right now, at this phase of Salman’s career, he just has to show up. All Kabir Khan has to do is to string together some coherence that allows Salman to be Salman. SRK fans cone to see SRK but also expect good acting and good production value. Likewise Aamir Khan’s fan expect all that and some little mental stimulation. But Salman’s fans expect nothing, they just want Salman. A film maker has to be outright stupid to rob the audience from what they have paid to see.

I have a lot of problem with this trailer. Nonetheless there is not a single doubt that this WILL HIT THE TARGET.
