Here are my 2013 Oscar Predictions.
Best Film
Amour
Argo
Beasts Of The Southern Wild

Best Director
David O Russell – Silver Linings Playbook
Ang Lee – Life Of Pi
Steven Spielberg – Lincoln
Michael Haneke – Amour
Benh Zeitlin – Beasts Of The Southern Wild
They did not even nominate Kathryn Bigelow who deserves the award. And there is no Ben Affleck either. So it will go to Steven Spielberg unless there is a surprise win by Ang Lee.
Best Actor
Bradley Cooper – Silver Linings Playbook
Joaquin Phoenix – The Master
Daniel Day-Lewis – Lincoln
Denzel Washington – Flight
Hugh Jackman – Les Miserable
Its Daniel Day-Lewis who is going to win. The others don’t even need to show up.
Best Actress
Jessica Chastain – Zero Dark Thirty
Quvenzhanรฉ Wallis – Beasts of the Southern Wild
Jennifer Lawrence – Silver Linings Playbook
Naomi Watts – The Impossible
Emmanuelle Riva – Armour
I want Jessica Chastain to win but I will be ok even if Jennifer Lawrence wins. Emmanuelle Riva was also excellent but it will be a surprise if she wins.
Best Supporting Actor
Alan Arkin – Argo
Robert De Niro – Silver Linings Playbook
Tommy Lee Jones – Lincoln
Christoph Waltz – Django Unchained
Philip Seymour Hoffman – The Master
Tommy Lee Jones is going to win this. Christoph Waltz was also very good but I don’t think he will win again so soon. Philip Seymour Hoffman was excellent too and him winning will be a surprise.
Best Supporting Actress
Amy Adams – The Master
Sally Field – Lincoln
Anne Hathaway – Les Miserables
Helen Hunt – The Sessions
Jacki Weaver – Silver Linings Playbook
I hope Amy Adams wins and I hope Sally Field does not win. Jacki Weaver was good too but I doubt she will win.

Kon-Tiki
I think Amour will win. It being nominated in the main categories is proof enough.
Best Adapted Screenplay
Beasts Of The Southern Wild
Argo
Lincoln
Silver Linings Playbook
Life Of Pi
This is a tough one. Life Of Pi is probably going to win but Argo has good chance too. Beasts Of The Southern Wild will be the surprise win.

Music (Original Score)
Dario Marianelli – Anna Karenina
Alexandre Desplat – Argo
Mychael Danna – Life Of Pi

Sputnik,
Haven’t Watched Any of the Movies[Sab badme Sukoon se dekhunga] but I Think Many have said that Hathaway will win it hands down for Les Mireables.
Skyfall by Adele was Superbbbb… Deserves the OSCAR.
Will be watching it on Monday Night.
And Nice Predictions of yours, except in 2011. ๐
Good Predictions all the best to you this post looks even better if u add posters.
@cr7,
Nice predictions too. TQ’s been there since 2008.
@Serenzy,
Ha Ha. Thanks for coming back ๐
I tried to watch Les Miserables but could not because of all the singing. May be Hathaway will win but I don’t care for singing instead of talking.
@aryan,
Thanks.
Sputnik Dear… Blasts in Hyderabad Yaar!!!!
๐ ๐
Yeah just found out. Sad. Reports say 11-15 dead and 50 injured. Its 15 min drive from my house.
Hopefully things are fine at your home.
Yeah. The place at which these blasts occurred is quite a busy area with theaters, bus stops and fruit/vegetable markets. Every few months its another city and they are not going a good job of preventing these attacks.
yeah..we are partly to blame that we don’t make politicans accountable for these. Moreover India is so vast, diverse and porous that it is difficult to manage all the risks. The curious part is that the police solves most of the cases in no time. So I guess instead of them being reactive, somewhat proactiveness would help.
@hithere,
Yes its very difficult to prevent attacks in a vast country like India with so many people but the govt is saying that had information on impending attacks since 2 days but no specifics. If they had that information why not issue a alert for people to be careful or be on the look out for anything suspicious and may be increase patrolling and security checks.
Yeah they always solve most of the cases in no time. So if they have those informants or contacts they can be proactive instead of being reactive.
Law enforcement needs to be an independent body with oversight by some judicial body. I was arguing few days back with my colleague on tortures (ZDT). Our argument boiled down to the point, do we torture innocent people or let people die because when we are proactive there is high probablity that some innocents would also get tortured.
Torture thing is complicated. On one hand where there is not much time one would like every means at disposal to prevent an attack but when lot of innocent people start getting tortured it becomes difficult to justify it.
Thanking Harvey Weinstein and God, in That Order
Thanks to the Academy, you can read (and watch) most of the winnersโ acceptance speeches, going back decades. But you donโt have to, because a grad student at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta did it for you, all in the name of research.
Rebecca Rolfe watched more than 200 Oscar winnersโ speeches, going back to 1953, the first year the show was televised, and posted her findings in an interactive Web site.
How many people actually say โIโd like to thank the Academyโ? Only 40 percent. Most begin by thanking the creative team behind the film, then their agents and publicists. If it seems like the speeches have become windier, itโs not your imagination: in the 1960s, they averaged about 40 seconds; now itโs up to 2 minutes. And winners are more emotional: โ71 percent of tears have been shed since 1995,โ Ms. Wolfe found, โincluding 12 of the last 15 best actresses.โ (Steven Spielberg is the sole director to well up, when he won for โSchindlerโs List.โ)
Nearly half of all the winners thank their family, but only 11 total have thanked God, according to Ms. Rolfeโs research. And even God loses out to his Hollywood counterpart : Harvey Weinstein has been thanked the most times (12) in Oscar history.

Nominating a foreign language movie in the best movie category– and then having the best foreign movie category to any debate is absurdly foolish on the Academy’s part.
Agree.
These are my worst predictions based on my first choices or what I said will win – only 6/14 predictions correct ๐ฅ
But I got all right except two – Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Screenplay based on my 2nd/3rd choices ๐
SURPRISE YEAR IT WAS!
๐
Many of your ‘Surprises’ Won. ๐
Ang Lee Thanked the Indian Crew!
:’)
I have Watched it in Bits and Parts… Will watch Full Tonight.
…..
btw, Anyone here thinks ‘Mila Kunis/Emma Stone’ and ‘Gwyneth Paltrow/Maggie Gyllenhaal’ look Similar to Each Other?? ๐
I don’t think Mila Kunis is similar to Emma Stone nor is Gwyneth Paltrow similar to Maggie Gyllenhaal. When I was a kid I used to get confused between Zeenat Aman and Parveen Babi ๐
Sputnik,
Zeenat Aman & Parveen Babi Do look Similar[And Equally Seductive in their Movies of whatever little I have seen].
I Think Priyanka Chopra[in her Screen Presence] Many a Times Tries to Come Across as a ‘Wannabe’ Zeenat/Parveen[Though Sometimes Good].
My Mum Thinks PC Mimics Meena Kumari Superbly ๐
Anushka Sharma’s Acting Reminds me of Zinta and her Face/Dialogue Delivery Remind me of Emma Stone.
…..
Kunis & Stone have a Tad Bit Resemblance but Paltrow and Gyllenhal look Very Similar… I Can Bet on it.
GOOGLE Them… Post their Pics here.!!!
Yeah Priyanka Chopra is looking more and more like Zeenat Aman after all her nose jobs and its been even more apparent since she did Zeenat Aman’s role from Don.
I liked Anushka a lot in Rab Ne and BBB but she has become extremely irritating with her bubbly act. I liked Preity in the Perk Ad (from which she became famous) and in Dil Se and DCH but I used to find her bubbly act irritating too.
I have to say this though Anushka makes Preity’s bubbly act look subtle or Anushka is Preity on caffeine ๐
Paltrow and Gyllenhal don’t look similar at all. I think Maggie Gyllenhal and Michelle Williams look a bit similar though.
