Village Songs Which Were Choreographed Well

Here are some Village Songs which were Choreographed well. I am sure I have not seen a lot of good songs out there in other languages – this is just a small collection which came to my mind . Please suggest and add your songs in the list.

Out of the ‘trimurti’ of superstars – Dev, Raj and Dilip, Dilip was the best when it came to dancing and moving his feet on beat.

Again a Dilip Kumar / Vyjayantimala song. Love the way both leads are introduced and the dancing. The simple steps by ladies/ gents sitting are also well picturized/ choreographed.

Meena and Rajni. I love this song and the way Rajni has performed and SP sang.

Another fav of mine of Rahman. Nice lyrics and tune by Rahman. (I like this song more because of Arjun and singer and the tune than choreography – but it has the rustic feel)

Aamir dancing in rhythm is a rare sight (although it was edited well).

And watch Rani here. Love the lyrics too. SRK tried his best to act as “kathputali” but in a way he was still in his mannerisms. Still a good effort. Rani was superb.

@Sputnik – fantastic , just fantastic. Thanks for making my day.

Now do you agree abt Vyjayantimala?

Jokes and jibes apart – you have chosen the best songs.

      • sputnik 10 years ago

        You are welcome.

I don’t remember criticizing Vyjayantimala in the past but she is very very graceful in all the songs that have been posted in this thread.

Here is one from a Telugu movie Rojulu Marayi – Eruvaka Sagaroo with Waheeda Rehman in it. It is said that at the success party of this movie Guru Dutt noticed her and decided to give her a chance in Hindi movies.

      @Yakuza

Thanks for all these. I will watch them one by one now as its been a long time.

There is one interesting thing. There is fun in “anarchy” too (now most indians know this word haha). The way orginal Don’s Khaike paan banaa was choreographed was really well (i mean there was very minimal choreography but more of anarchy there 😉 – and it suited the song )

I think you didnt get the subject of the thread properly. It is about choreography than the village songs. Only 2-3 songs you posted are valid for this topic.
I like all these songs but very few of them qualify for the topic.

      1) Lagaan – I agree on couple of songs
      2) Gori tera gaon bada pyara – nice song but no choreography.
      3) Musafir hoon yaaron – again no choreography.
      4) Yahan Wahan – yes I agree even if it was projecting the hero more than the focus on choreography.

      5) Daakiyaa Daak laaya – no choreography whatsoever. THough it is my fav song.
      6) Sawan ka mahina – are you kidding? where is the choreography in this?
      7) Aadmi musafir hai – same case – good song but no choreography.
      8) Kuch kehta hai ye sawan – a good duet and picturization. But where is even the “C” of choreography?
      9) Hai Sharmayu kis kis ko batayi – agree absolutely!!
      10) Kaun disha mein leke chala re – again no choreography at all.
      11) Bade acche lagte hai – again no choreography at all.

Thanks. I saw Chamma Chamma just yesterday again. I was a craze back then. Almost every small girl in Maharashtra in Ganesh Festival used to think of her as Urmila 😛 and I have seen many such stage performances by cute kids/ little girls during the festival.

When I see the song now, I am not much fond of it now or Urmila. Some steps and expressions were very sharp and wow ofcourse.

Another USP of the song for me was Amrish Puri dancing like that 🙂
