When a young man tries to venture beyond his sequestered hamlet, his actions set off a chain of chilling incidents that alter the community forever.
Did not like it at all. I already knew the basic plot and ending but I expected it to be a nice horror thriller but the screenplay was very bad. Why the hell would you tell that it is all a farce in the climax with 40 minutes left into the movie and then again show a “creature”? Why would the father let his blind daughter go fetch the medicines when he can do it himself. The scared blind girl is there only to give cheap horror thrills.
Bryce Dallas Howard (Ron Howard’s daughter) looked pretty but like I said before her blindness is there only for cheap thrills. And her blindness was very convenient because she could see the creature fine. I don’t know why poor Joaquin Phoenix even agreed to do this useless role. Adrien Brody was bad as the mentally retarded character. William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver and Judy Greer were ok.
M. Night Shyamalan’s direction was bad and so was the screenplay.
