Awesome show. I wish it was longer. The Comedy Central Roast used to be more than a hour long. Here each one was roasting only for a few minutes.

Some of the jokes were absolutely hilarious. The last one about Raghu Ram made by Ranveer and Arjun was the best. The jokes at Alia, Deepika and Sonakshi were good too and they were quite sportive. Karan Johar pretty much came out of the closet.

Absolutely hilarious .Fell off my chair during the Raghu masturbation Joke . I haven’t thought they could be so vulgar and witty at the same time . Karan was awesome . i really hope they make more videos . Not sure how many celebs will attend though .

Yeah the Raghu masturbation joke was the best. I was at work and I had a hard time trying not to laugh out loud.

Karan was awesome especially his last joke about the ‘position’.

There was a huge crowd and the crowd seemed to be enjoying it too.

They could have may be less number of people roasting but longer roasts by each so the entire roast is at least an hour long.

I doubt if the other celebs will be cool enough to take jokes and abuse others. May be younger generation stars can like Sidharth, Varun can. Don’t know about female celebs.

I think they cut Salman’s sister joke coz there was some news about it

  3. Baba 9 years ago

Not funny. especially part 3. i dont like how celebs have plagued AIB and TVF.they manipulate them. the original AIB is stil ok but the celebs each of them sound rehearsed and some of tjhem can be seen even reading from the prompt cards. this show might not be beneficial for deepika. her PR has brought her to make her look cool but it might not help. uski izzat ka bhaaji paala ho raha hai

As long as it is funny its ok if the celebs are involved with AIB and TVF.

Comedy Central Roast was also about celebs being roasted. So our Indian celebs getting roasted is good. Its about whether they can take a joke and dish it out. May be it is scripted but the point is whether you are ok being made fun of in front of everyone.

Alia, Sonakshi and Deepika all were joked about and they all were sportive enough to sit in the front row and get joked about.

Deepika is Ranveer’s girlfriend which was pretty much clear from the video. So if she is there for her boyfriend being roasted its not PR stuff. And getting joked during a roast is not going to do anything to her “izzat”.

      • Baba 9 years ago

jokes about chut, lund and gay can make a school going kid laugh. not me. the worst part is everything looks rehearsed and some of them can even be seen reading the jokes from cards. i have passed the phase where one liner can make me laugh if it has abuses. deepika came here to show that she can take jokes on her and ranvirs sex life but it will hurt her in the long run.

Everybody uses those words when they are with friends. They may not do before everyone.

“deepika came here to show that she can take jokes on her and ranvirs sex life but it will hurt her in the long run.”

Are we living in the 50s? You are talking regressive stuff that if someone is open about having boyfriend and having a sex life it is going to hurt her career.

          • cr7 9 years ago

@Babaji_ Do u think Salman is virgin comment helped katrina’s career ?

          • Baba 9 years ago

yes in private but in public its better for stars to maintain some dignity. they joked about deepika’s promiscuousness and also ranvirs. as long as these things are under curtain, ppl gossip but dont take it very seriously. but once its open and accessible to public its bad. In india celebs are treated like Gods. perosnally i am not suprised by anything they said about anyone which includes the paycheck that masand gets from kjo!

cr – salman is not virgin. he is impotent. and it helped katrina kaif. we know she is still fresh 😀

enjoyed the beginning but after a while the jokes got repetitive.

  6. AAP 9 years ago

Liked the first half but from second video it seemed they were trying hard to get laughs. Loved that fat guy’s joke on Anil Kapoor. Good to see today’s stars are sporty enough.

  7. Reddemon 9 years ago

However regressive these videos may be but I liked it just for one reason and that isfor showing The double standards of Deepika Padukone. Just Few months back she reacted hyperbolically to TOI posting her cleavage photo (at that time i foolishly supported her 😛 And here she is allright with far worse things. But hey! She is Shah Rukh Khan “Bhakt” so its normal.

AIB Roast Runs Into Trouble With Maharashtra Government

The Maharashtra government has decided to investigate if a roast of actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, held in Mumbai last month, was guilty of obscene language and content.

Maharashtra’s Minister for Cultural Affairs Vinod Tawde termed the vularity of the show a crime. “We will register an FIR against them as they appear to have performed without any performance license. Such vulgarity is a crime and based on facts which will emerge, the government will file a case against them,” he said.

The roast, the first of its kind in India, featured a panel of eight and ‘Roastmaster’ Karan Johar putting the Gunday actors through an expletive-laced hour-and-a-half of jokes about their on-screen and off-screen lives.

The nearly 90-minute roast, was filmed in a Mumbai stadium with an audience of 4,000 last month. An edited version of the show was released on YouTube last week and has been watched more than eight million times so far.

Audience A-listers included actors Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Sonakshi Sinha.

AIB is a collective of comics Tanmay Bhat, Rohan Joshi, Gursimran Khamba and Ashish Shakya who show their sketches on a YouTube channel.

In response to feedback on twitter last week about some of the jokes going way too far, AIB co-founder Tanmay Bhat responded, “All the roasts I’ve seen online have all been equal opportunity offending.”

Rs. 40 lakhs were raised at the event which, Roastmaster Karan Johar announced, would go to charity.

    The Videos have been removed.

    All India Bakchod tweeted.

“Have taken down AIB Knockout for now. We will speak soon.”

    This is just ridiculous.

Apart from the religious/Sanskari fanatics who had a issue with the show Salman fans were also targeting the show since there was some joke about his sister Arpita which was edited out. These fans are talking about actors being role models and how they should not do this kind of stuff. They have no trouble with Salman being a role model who drank and drove and killed a homeless person.

i didnt find the videoes terribly funny but making complaints agaisnt the video is plain stupid. i liked to see the reality of kjo and masand a lot and thanks to AIB for it. I think they(the celebs) were stil holding back but its a video i would have liked to visit again. its bad that they have removed it. i think someone on youtube must have saved it. let me check

    Open Letter from AIB

“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to death my right to get offended. How dare you? Baahar mil.” – Desi Voltaire
    Dear everyone,
Let’s just all take a deep breath. They’re just jokes. Unfunny, crass or whatever you want to call them, they’re still just jokes. The AIB Knockout video has been taken down. While we’d love to claim that it’s because so many people watched it that it broke YouTube, the truth’s a little sadder.
First things first; no one person or force forced us to take this video down. This is not something that’s happened because of a 3 am phonecall or a morcha at our front door or a gunman on a grassy knoll. Under the circumstances, this is us being pragmatic. Allow us to explain.
People who’ve been following our work will know that we’ve always tried to experiment with content be it on Youtube or a live comedy show, with the sole intent of making people laugh and/or think. AIB Knockout was another such attempt to try something new and bring the roast format to a country where celebrities aren’t often known to laugh at themselves. To our pleasant surprise, we managed to bring together consenting adults who were willing to be made fun of by other consenting adults in a crowd full of (wait for it) consenting adults. And if we’re honest, it was a phenomenally entertaining evening. Were the jokes repetitive? Crass? It didn’t matter because they happened in the spirit of irony and good humour. It was just liberating to be able to say those things, things that people have thought in one form or another privately for years. A lot of the laughter that night came from that spirit (there’s your answer, people who wondered why everyone was laughing at terrible jokes).
The video came with a clear disclaimer with several age and content warnings. No one was forced to watch it, we didn’t buy airtime on every single TV channel on Earth to broadcast it. YouTube videos do not magically auto-play in front of you. And yet the videos got over 8 million views. Far more importantly, on the video page, the people who liked them outnumbered the people who disliked them by ten times to one. Yes, ten times.
The format was the same as any international roast i.e. insult comedy, delivered in the form of one-liners designed to be as rude as possible. It is performed with the understanding that none of the material is to be taken seriously—none of the performers actually mean the “offensive” things they say to each other on the night. We clarify this simply to provide context.
With the Knockout, in our own juvenile, idiotic way, we wanted to push the envelope of comedy in this country. But then the envelope pushed back. Things got to a point where people who have supported us, people who work hard to make what we do come to life, were put in a position where things could get deeply unpleasant for them. And that’s a problem. We can live with abuse, hate, anger, fury, rage, ignorance, bigotry and perhaps even bullying. But we don’t want anybody to get hurt because of us. And we do mean anybody.
We hope it’s clear by now that we never write with the aim of hurting people. That’s not our goal and we daresay that no comedian ever does that. We don’t go to work and say, “Hmm, let’s offend XYZ people from XYZ community today.” If we really wanted to piss off people and hurt them, we’d be selling credit cards over the phone.
Our job is to raid the newspapers, pop culture and life for observations and analogies and it’s okay if you think we’re juvenile or unfunny. We respect arguments that are critical, and as for the arguments we don’t, we respect your right to make them without impediment. It is a courtesy we wish worked both ways.
Over the last few days, we’ve found ourselves subject to more scrutiny, judgment and opinion than we’re worth. This Knockout shouldn’t matter. In a secure culture it wouldn’t matter.
We’re lucky to have support pouring in from all quarters. First up, from our fans, just the greatest people in the world, who have nothing but good cheer and encouragement and positive thoughts. We were pleasantly surprised that people in power who we have made fun of in the past, including people from both the so-called right wing and left-wing, went out of their way to convey support to us. It was fantastic to know that they stand for free speech as much as us. Friends in the media have told us to stay our course, pledging their support for our right to say anything, no matter how ridiculous. Thank you to anyone who has stated in the last few days that we have the right to say what we want, not as comedians but more importantly as citizens of this country.
There’s a larger cultural conversation going on here, where we’re at the very edges of what it’s okay to say. And it’s a conversation we need to have now because the world we live in is entirely too complicated to be run by silences. We still stand by our belief in the right to absolute freedom of expression for us and for anyone who has anything to say about anything at all. We hope to be part of an environment that supports that sort of expression without fear of persecution, intimidation and most importantly, annoyance. As always, in our own AIB way we’ll continue to strive towards creating that very environment.
In the meantime, we’d like to say thank you to our fans and everyone else who is standing by us. You guys make the struggle worth it. To everyone railing against us and against the stars that were present, to everyone who’s decided we’re destroying the fabric of our culture, to everyone who’s called us seditious pornographers while plotting the downfall of Indian Values And Civilization As We Know It, we would like to reiterate that we are just a bunch of comedians who work, and have always worked, without any malicious intent whatsoever.
We encourage any and all conversation on the subject of freedom of expression, for our own silly selves, and for people better, smarter and more courageous than us. For hundreds and thousands of artists, commentators and any and all citizens that do not have the privilege of social platforms and reach that we do.
We are also cooperating with the authorities and hope to resume normal service soon. We’d like some sort of cheerful resolution to this so we can focus on more important national issues, like the upcoming Cricket World Cup.
P.S. Best of luck Virat Kohli. Sorry for the jokes. We heart emoticon you.
P.P.S. It’s a good thing nobody’s downloaded the file and put it on a torrent website or anything.

Agree. But sadly he is a member of the Censor board.

The people who were roasted and the people in the audience who were made fun of and the people who attended the show had no issue. But these idiots are getting offended and all hyper over it.

AIB should not have removed the video from youtube. Their statement is just lot of rambling and does not make sense to me.

How come using or supporting abuses or cuss words makes one progressive and regressive vice versa. The logic saying that these words are used in common parlance isn’t convincing at least for me. Does any one uses these words when he is with family or even with ladies. The answer is no, at least in a society where I live.
One should be progressive by his actions and thoughts, not by using cuss words. And, public figures should maintain a decency irrespective of whatever they are in private.
Unfortunately, we have come to a situation where one thinks it fashionable to support such programs, otherwise, he will be treated regressive on social platforms.

    • Author
      sputnik 9 years ago

Using or supporting abuses or cuss words does not make one progressive or regressive.

“Does any one uses these words when he is with family or even with ladies. The answer is no, at least in a society where I live.”

I grew up in a street with a lot of car mechanic shops and they would hurl the choicest of abuses or cuss words in public in front of everyone including ladies. They did not hurl those abuses at ladies but nobody asked them to stop.

I have seen even women use abuses or cuss words when they are angry.

Here is link to a video of Indian girls abusing.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kjXhqBOF1E

Satya had cuss words. So many Vishal Bhardwaj movies like Omkara, Ishqiya had cuss words. Same with Anurag Kashyap movies. Today cuss words are quite common in movies.

Roadies which was a very popular show on TV not have cuss words? Big Boss has cuss words which are beeped. How come Indian audiences are watching it and its being telecast on TV. Salman fans are saying on FB that AIB Roast is bad because it has abuses. These guys have no problem with their favorite star hosting that stupid show.

Today almost every movie has a kissing scene and a sex scene. In India people don’t kiss in front of others. So why are Indian movies having these kiss scenes? How do movies like Grand Masti become a hit in India if people don’t like adult comedies?

Comedy Central started these roasts like ten years back. Its called insult comedy where they make fun of others by cracking the most vulgar, crude jokes about each other. They don’t really mean any of the stuff. People are supposed to take in the right spirit and be cool about it.

The AIB Roast came on youtube and people who like those kind of shows can watch it and those who don’t like it don’t have to. If its telecast on TV then I am sure all the cuss words will be beeped on TV. So I frankly don’t understand why Ashok Pandit or anyone else should have any issue with it. Even if they don’t like it that’s fine. But filing FIRs against people who participated in the show. Seriously?

If they are going to file FIRs then file FIRs against every Indian movie and all the stars in it that ever had a abuse or a kiss/sex scene. File a FIR against Salman Khan for hosting Big Boss and every other TV Show and host which has abuses in it.

“And, public figures should maintain a decency irrespective of whatever they are in private.”

Nobody is telling anyone to go and start abusing others. Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer or Karan are not going to start abusing every fan and everyone in public because this show was a hit. And it doesn’t give anyone any right to start abusing them. It was a show where they agreed to be made fun of with the most vulgar jokes and insults and gaalis. Thos who like it can enjoy the show. Those who don’t like it don’t need to watch it. That’s all.

cuss words are cool when it is used with some wit . but just using them for effect without any smartness looks poor and cheap. and that is what the celebs came across in AIB roast. i liked the performances of all the AIB members. they are cool and smart. but not the celebs. and the arjun -ranveer part was unfunny as hell.

I think this whole excercise of “with-AIB” and “agaisnt-AIB” is one big bulshit PR activity and a cas eof vested interests. those who are doing protests or complaints against this and those thinking supporting this makes them progressive are both chutiyas of 1st order and need to get their brains checked. its just a stupid video lacking any wits . there are tons and tons of better vidoes out there far more witter and edgier.

Utterly shameless, gutless AIB. Why make a roast like that if you don’t have the balls to stand behind it.

AIB’s apology to Archbishop of Bombay

“The members of the All India Bakchod Comedy Company met with Bp. Agnelo Gracias, Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay and tendered an unconditional apology. Bp. Agnelo Gracias on behalf of the Archdiocese of Bombay accepted the unconditional apology and in the spirit of understanding and reconciliation stated that the Archdiocese accepts the AIB apology and considers this matter closed. The Content of the apology letter is given here below

    To,
    Cardinal Oswald Gracias
    Archbishop of Bombay

We, Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Ashish Shakya, Rohan Joshi at AIB hereby offer an unconditional apology to the entire Christian community for any offense that may have been caused to its members as a result of the AIB Knockout. While performing our acts, no matter the subject, we never intend to hurt anyone, though we as an unfortunate consequence of the nature of our profession, we sometimes do. We are sorry.

We would also like to urge that we have the utmost respect for all religions and community and have never been against any community, nor do we bear any ill will of any kind towards any community. We also believe and support with complete certainty the notion that every community has the right to live with dignity, honour, and freedom from any form of persecution. We would also like to reiterate that the jokes at the AIB Knockout were not intended as a form of persecution or malice towards the Christian community or any other community, for that is not who we are, or what we stand for.

We’d also like to thank the Archdiocese of Mumbai for taking the time out to get its points across to us through patient, reasoned conversations with us about this issue. We are deeply grateful for the sincerity and dignity with which we’ve been received and hope that more debates and cultural arguments across the spectrum can be made with this same spirit of understanding and civility.

    With sincere apologies,

    AIB”

the reason to include so many celebs was bcos they wanted publicity. they must have been excited when the video got complaints and protests. this is what the video was aimed at. to piss some idiots and get some publicity. i think AIB is talented but its intention is all wrong. they want easy publicity and instant fame. they are not interested in building a body of work. they removed the video from youtube which is just a drama. everyone knows once a video is uploaded on youtube, someone can always save it and upload it. so no point in removing the video once its uploaded.

There were some jokes involving Jesus, resurrection, altar boy when they were roasting Abish Mathew and I thought that some Christian organization will object and that’s what happened.

In India there is no point in making shows like these. Because some political/cultural/religious organization will be pissed and there will be a case. Comedians in India should stick to stupid shows like Kapil Sharma’s show or those shows where Siddhu and Archana Puran Singh will fake laugh for every stupid joke.

        • Baba 9 years ago

“Comedians in India should stick to stupid shows like Kapil Sharma’s show or those shows where Siddhu and Archana Puran Singh ”

those are bad shows.but the original laughter challenge on star plus was very good. it featured geniunely talented comic artists like raju srivastav, ehsan qureshi and sunil pal. there jokes had wit, real life experiences without having the need to go cheap.they used to take digs at sardars a lot but nothing like this happened.but that doesnt mean i dislike humour with abuses. i have been an admirer of mtv roadies once.but except the AIB team, the celebs sucked in the roast. wth was ranvir and arjun doing. khud joke maar ke khud has rahe the . they call that black guy a “damber” “trikaal” etc. i mean its the height of lameness.

          • Baba 9 years ago

AIB is a self-confessed fan of raju srivastav

Yeah I think the original laughter challenge on star plus was good too. Remember liking that one.

Sardar jokes are very common and Sardars haven’t protested at that. But given how everyone gets pissed and starts protesting or filing cases its only a matter of time when they will start too.

“they call that black guy a “damber” “trikaal” etc. i mean its the height of lameness.”

Yeah that thing was stupid. But in any stand up comedy not all jokes work. Some will be hilarious and some will fall flat. I did not like all of AIB’s jokes either. I thought the last joke that Ranveer and Arjun made on Raghu was the most hilarious though.

          • Author
            sputnik 9 years ago

Raju Shrivastav is a veteran. He did some comedy at Screen Awards and he was hilarious. But even his jokes sometimes fall flat. And some of his jokes have become a little repetitive now with jokes on Sholay/Gabbar/Gaon/Gai and so on.

In 90s there used to be a show on DD during afternoon transmission where Raju and a couple of other comedians used to be given props and they had to come up with something funny immediately. And more often than not they used to come up with something funny. That requires real talent.

          • Baba 9 years ago

laughter challenge was stopped when the producers felt the show was getting repetitive but it ran for a good 2-3 years after the initial challenge was over.and then its clones started on sony and other chanels and they are pathetic. AIB will not be able to sustain after a point of time too.

I like both Raju Srivastav & Kapil Sharma . Kapi’s show might be stupid but he has an exceptional comic timing . I used to like comedy circus when it started .There was one Pakistani guy , he used to be hilarious .

Aanir Khan reacts to AIB Roast– What are your views?

“First of all I want to start by saying that I have not seen that roast. But I have heard about it. I have seen 2-3 clips of it. When the roast happened, I happen to be at a place where Karan Johar and Arjun Kapoor came to that place and told us ke humne ye roast kiya aur ye hua. They told us all the dialogues they had exchanged over there. I was deeply affected by that. I was most disappointed in what I was hearing. I completely believe that its freedom of speech, no issues. But we have to understand that we all have a certain responsibility. When I heard what was being described to me, I felt it was a very violent event. There was lot of violence in that event. Dekhiye violence sirf physical nahi hota ke main aapko 2 joote maarun, violence verbal bhi hota hai, violence emotional bhi hota hai. Jab aap kisi ko insult karte ho, toh aap violence perpetuate kar rahe ho. Aap ek bahut violent cheez kar rahe ho aur aap duniya ko dikha rahe ho ke dekho main kitna violent hun. Toh mujhe wo cheezen pasand nahi hain ke main aapko violence dikhaun chaahe wo physical ho aur usko main aapko bataun ke wo kitne kamaal ka hai, I don’t like it. So I’m sure that there are few young people who have liked the show and I believe that all of us have different opinions and we are allowed to have different opinions but I’ll give you my opinion. Mujhe laga ke it was a very violent show isliye mujhe pasand nahi aaya. Mere dost hain Karan Johar aur Arjun Kapoor, toh maine toh unko daanta. Maine bola yar mujhe ye funny nahi lag raha hai. Aur 25 gaaliyan deke aap soch rahe ho ke main impress hojaunga, gaaliyon se impress hone ki umar meri nikal chuki hai ke main 14 saal ka nahi hun ke main gaali sunke hasunga ha ha ha gaali di usne. I am not impressed by a bad language. Aap agar mujhe hasana chahte ho toh aap bagayr kisi ko chot pahuchaye aap mujhe hasake dekho toh mujhe mazaa aayega usme. Kisi ke rang pe comment karna, kisi ke sexuality pe comment karna aur usko joke banana aur main aapke saath hasun, mujhe toh hasi nahi aarahi bhai isme. Toh I personally have a problem with what they have done therefore I haven’t seen the show kyunki I feel ke yar ye mere type ka show nahi hai mujhe nahi dekhna hai. Isse pehle maine ek cheez kahi thi ke what is the responsibility of a creative person? Main AIB ki baat nahi kar raha hun, main Karan Johar ki baat kar raha hun, main Arjun Kapoor aur jo bhi actors the uss din, mujhe pata nahi kaun kaun the, jitne bhi the main unki baat kar raha hun. Mujhe lagta hai aur main kaun hota hun unko kuch kehne wala toh main apne aap ko yeh cheez kehta hun ki mujhe lagta hai ke meri zimmedari hai ke main logon ki acchai ko tatolun aur violent act karke main logon ki acchai ko tatol nahi paunga. Toh ye mere thoughts hain uss show ko lekar, isliye maine abhi tak dekha nahi hai kyunki main disturb hojaunga. Jitna main dekhunga utna aur disturb hojaunga. 2 clips dekhe maine, maine kaha mujhe nahi dekhna hai ye.”

I remember when some interviewer asked about the Bose DK abuse he tried to be a smart ass with his answer and then started singing “Bhag Bose DK Bhag”. After listening to this I can only sing – “Bhag Bose DK Bhag”.

Unoffended video by All India Bakchod. Its cool of Arnab Goswami, Milind Deora and Vishal Dadlani to mock themselves.
