    Yes Rafsan but little known outside bengali space. Read that Feluda is huge series written by Ray. Don´t know much

  5. Rafsan Cr 11 years ago

    Yeah Tulmul . there is series of novels and short stories based on Feluda .he is our own sherlock holmes 😀 .there is another famous character written by ray “professor shanku”.I really want someone to make a movie on Shanku .

    yup Rafsan Cr is right, feluda (detective stories) is an iconic character along with professor shonku (sci-fi stories), both created by ray & since then both of them have got immortalized in our bengali fiction thanks to ray. the feluda series is still pretty much alive thanks to his son sandip ray. BTW other than sonar kella ray has also adapted joy baba felunath from one of his feluda novel of the same name. utpal dutta plays a devious mean businessman as maganlal meghraj & worthy adversary to feluda´s wits who incidentally also appears in two more feluda stories (joto kando kathmandute & golapi mukta rahasya filmed as episodes in the tv series) . other than soumitra´s sharp & crafty feluda there is late santosh dutta whose innocent witty charm as jatayu can warm any heart from 8 to 80.

    BTW , Ray changed sonar kella a lot from the original novel he had written.

    Thanks Sputnik.

    @Soumya

    This movie has Feluda but more than a sleuth’s intelligence etc – its the way story being told appeals me / the journey etc. I like Sabyasachi’s Felu more – Gorosthane Sabdhaan being most fav.

    Feluda stories are not about that final twist or great suspense. Its made for a young/teenage mind primarily,,so it tells you the tale of a detective and how he goes about accomplishing what he has already mentioned in the beginning

    the rest is about his (the detective’s) sharp skills, his knack for details and his observation powers.

    Best thing about Feluda is the pace.

    btw anyone who has seen Sonakr Kella and Agantuk- will realize Ray’s fascination with travelling, places, languages and Globetrotters 😉

    feluda is iconic..i have grown up with Feluda, Jatayu and Topse…must have read each of the stories 2-3 times.. As someone said, I would love to see someone make a movie about Professor Sanku….we have enough technological progress to do justice to Dr. Sanku

    @Sup
