Looks very interesting and intriguing. Aamir seems to be acting really well – back to the Aamir that I like. Rani and Kareena seem to have good roles too.

Finally a trailer that has lived up to the film’s hype! Much better than the first teaser.

  3. Reddemon 12 years ago

Aamir’s look and mustache reminds me of Manish Choudhary aka “Puri” from Rocket Singh

    • Reddemon 12 years ago

LOL. But aamir will never match puri’s expressions.

Sukanya Verma had tweeted that Aamir’s look was like that of an animated character (Vegeta with mustache in Dragon Ball Z) and I had responded to her with the above comment. Sukanya Verma and Fatema (another blogger) said they dont like Manish’s acting and Manish started replying back.

So I replied to him that I started the Aamir comparison and I that I thought he was excellent in RS.

      And he replied back.

      “Manish Chaudhari ‏@ManishC_Actor

@tanqeed @SukanyaVerma @Fattiemama thanks Tanqeed :). I agree, the mustache look is very similar. ”

Trailer is as per expectation. What I am looking forward to is the music of this film. Will Ram Sampath be able to match Mahal/Mera Saaya/ Madhumati kind of theme song?

    • Ritz 12 years ago

Even if the Talaash team does a 5% job of the below song – it will be great

But cant predict…as its a different genre…they may change the music concept totally…to suit to modern times….

  7. Suprabh 12 years ago

I think the trailer gives out a lot more than it should…I dont like it when I guess the ending in such movies….and here this trailer gives me enough scope to guess it out already. 😕

Finally THE Aamir movie worth waiting for since TZP (barring Dhobi Ghat) ! This is going to be the movie of the year. Will be great if Aamir can take this to do 100 cr; which will be fantastic for the genre and the kind of movie this is.

  9. Baba Ji 12 years ago

Nice trailer. Story looks interesting. Aamir looks in control. 100 cr is a below par expectation for this film and no excuse is valid for it.It should do more than 130 cr.

    • Bored 12 years ago

100 cr is a below par standard for stuff like Bol Bachchan, Housefull 2, Don 2, Ra One etc.
For Talaash it will be an achievement – much like last year’s ZNMD doing 90+ cr meant much more than other 100 cr grossers.

And this is one movie which may displace Agneepath from being my fav star-studded movie of 2012.

      • Baba Ji 12 years ago

znmd came after flops for all involved – hrithik, farhan, abhay and zoya. Talaash is coming 2 years after 3 idiots. And aamir and hrithik are not the same level stars.Aamirs offbeat film should do a lot more after almost 2 years.

        • Bored 12 years ago

One can always expect 200 cr from a movie like Talaash (I recently heard it in another blog) just like Ranbir expects 100 cr from Barfi – but that is unlikely. Just like expecting 200 cr from D3 or PK is not ridiculous.

Anyways, ZNMD should have crossed 100 cr and Agneepath 150 cr if Hrithik was indeed at Aamir level – matter of fact is that he is not; and he has miles to go to get near Aamir.

        • Tulmul 12 years ago

          Baba,

It will crawl to 100 cr IMO, if it does 125+ than Aamir is beyond BO numbers ( courtesy CR7) 😛

          • Baba Ji 12 years ago

100 cr will be a gross under-performance for this film. If it does crawl to that, srk, akshay and salman fans will make a mincemeat of both the film and aamir.I am saying this from experience 😉 Till date aamir fans are taunted by dhobi ghaat BO which was infact a profitable film, isnt it?

          • Tulmul 12 years ago

            Baba,

Hmmmm… U may be right but I personally least bothered about 50, 100, 150 crs. If a movie makes 150 – 200 crs and doesn’t make any sense to me than Why should I dissipate My Energy Thinking over it 😀

I said somewhere that JTHJ will make more than 125 crs, even though I dislike that genre…

lately, which 100+ grosser did please you or me or rest, if fanboy goggles are kept aside 😛 ???

  10. Baba Ji 12 years ago

” if Hrithik was indeed at Aamir level – matter of fact is that he is not; and he has miles to go to get near Aamir.”

You contradict your earlier stance. You first said if talaash makes 100 cr it is acceptable bcos hrithiks znmd made 90 cr in 2011. You brought aamir at hrithiks level.infact i rightly said aamir is the bigger star so talaash should gross more. No one expects it do 200 cr (apart from srk fans) .

Excuses like dark film etc will work at satyamshot, not elsewhere. Talaash doesnt look run of the mill but surely it aint a piece of art or unusually unconventional! It is not even tzp level. To me it looks like an interesting episode from Crime patrol.

    • Bored 12 years ago

Baba this movie is much less audience friendly than the feel-good ZNMD, there is no comparison.

      • Baba Ji 12 years ago

That we can tell after the film.this is a plex film alright but from trailer it is clearly not a barfi, guzaarish or tzp.

        • Bored 12 years ago

You want to compare a plex film about 3 boys on a road trip with another plex film about a protagonist cop who is a schrizophenic serial killer?

          • Baba Ji 12 years ago

I did not bring znmd into picture, you brought it as an excuse for talaash’s acceptability at 100 cr. I say you might live with it.whats the big deal anyway? srk fans console themselves that ra1 did very well for the kind of risky film it was.May be aamir fans will do the same for talaash.Everyone is same at the end of the day.

            sputnik 12 years ago

3 boys on a road trip in Spain is Greek and Latin to SS audiences. The movie is too subtle, too “drama” less and action less for SS audience.

Talaash may be a dark thriller but it at least has a cop investigating crimes which is not alien to the SS audiences. If I am not wrong Kahaani did well at SS too so Talaash should do well too unless it is very slow paced or has some WTF ending.

          • Bored 12 years ago

Comparing this with Ra1 or Don 2 is very nonsensical – unless one is not even aware of what genre of movie making is.

Why did I mention ZNMD? Because last year that feel-good buddy movie with foreign locales with a light treatment that almost bordered dumbness, could not get to 100 cr inspite of being liked quite well by its target plex audience.

If Aamir can get a psychoanalytical crime thriller that is a mix of Shutter Island, Memento and The Beautiful Mind – to do 100 cr – then of course it will be something worthwhile.

It can do more and surprise, but even 100 cr will mean a lot and the trade is expecting only so much from this movie.

          • Baba Ji 12 years ago

The only nonsensical thing is to suck upto anything that aamir does and call it prestige and have different rules for him and others.

“If Aamir can get a psychoanalytical crime thriller that is a mix of Shutter Island, Memento and The Beautiful Mind ”

ROFL! Clearly reading satyamshot too much has had a toll on you!If this is how we have to go by,I can make Rowdy rathore or ap sound like some edgy brutal unconventional film by using heavy words and some hw references.Cut the crap Bored – now you are just boring me.

    TALAASH IS BEYOND GOOOOOOOOOOOGLE

  12. Suprabh 12 years ago

    Bored,

All baba is saying is- The audience is the dying Jimmy Shergil and Aamir is munnabhai from Munnabhai MBBS…woh kuch bhi kar sakta hai.

  13. Suprabh 12 years ago

    Bored,

I do see your point of argument, but Baba and Sputnik are right at their end too. If Aamir can make TZP (much more audience unfriendly genre than Talaash) a super hit, then Talaash is still starring aamir, kareena and rani…Moreover, it coming after TZP,DB,DG,PL,3Idiots , even satyamev jayate- hence it has the backing of the “Brand Aamir phenomenon”

Your point would have been more pertinent if aamir was just coming after 3 idiots with nothing else in his repertoire that built “Brand Aamir”.

    BabaJi

Son of Sardar has english title 😕 It will be difficult for it to have mass following

      • Baba Ji 12 years ago

Good that talaash is hindi word else Bored would have reduced 10 cr more from his expectation. 😆

  14. fearlesssoul 12 years ago

    My expectations 235cr

My prediction 140cr in flat two weeks and anything above is bonus…

Its so childish to show Talaash doing a 100cr is some king of a great achievement as if its Dhobi ghaat 2…

    • cr7 12 years ago

agree.. i will start counting talaash’s bo collection from 101 cr..100 cr is given with the announcement of aamir playing the lead..

Talaash is my next big obsession: Aamir Khan

By his own admission, Aamir Khan’s next big obsession is Reema Kagti’s Talaash. The film is his second outing with Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar with whom he did Dil Chahta Hai.

Though the actor is currently in Chicago, he is super-excited about the theatrical promo that has generated a deafening buzz in the trade and with the public. “The promotion work on Talaash has begun, and though I am in Chicago, I’m very much involved in the whole process, thanks to the internet,” he says.

The two-minute trailer of this suspense drama that shows Aamir with his leading ladies Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor starts from Mumbai’s upmarket Marine Drive-kind-of-location and moves through the seedy bylanes and hotels of the Maximum City’s red-light district, Kamathipura.

The sharp cuts and razor-sharp editing are so engaging that it leaves the audience stunned and asking for more. According to Aamir, Talaash brings to focus the genre of cult ‘suspense’ classics like Madhubala-Ashok Kumar’s Howrah Bridge (1958) and Dilip Kumar-Vyjayanthimala’s Madhumati (1958) that highlighted a city’s back lanes, its night life, and also had engaging music. “Do you remember Aiyiye Meherbaan Baithiye Jaanejaan (Howrah Bridge),” he asks, crooning the hit ditty that was picturised on the ethereal Madhubala. “Somehow this genre of cinema went missing in later years,” he rues. “Talaash is a thriller that shows a city’s night life, underbelly, hookers…”
Honestly, such flattering reactions to the trailer are not surprising. Talaash is after all Aamir’s next release, coming after a gap of nearly two-and-a-half years. Sources say that the Bollywood superstar is so confident of the content doing the talking that he has specifically asked the marketing team to focus just on the promo and the roll-out of the title track that features him with Rani and Kareena, rather than resort to any marketing gimmicks.
Putting rumours of his alleged fallout with director Reema to rest, Aamir says, “At the moment, my sights are trained on Talaash. It is also my first release after Dhobi Ghat. Reema has been great to work with. I find her to be an excellent director. As an actor, there were so many things I missed out about the character I’m playing, but Reema pointed them out to me, and I was able to use her inputs to enhance my role. She is very perceptive, and since she is also a writer, she brings that additional strength to the table. She’s very clear as to what she wants from her actors, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with her.”

Hmm…so confirms my doubts of this having a great music. Aamir mentions music of earlier films and “Aiyiye Meherbaan”…

      • Ritz 11 years ago

Music is a letdown finally. Just ok’ish

No match to earlier suspense drama theme music songs which I mentioned earlier. Only respite is all songs are in background. (Hope so)

  17. sneha 12 years ago

Loved every bit of it.. Nice to see the old Aamir ( wrt acting ).. Seems to be a complete plex film.. Though repeat audience ll be missing it should do a min 130cr.. Looking fwd to it’s music
