Did not like the songs much on first listen.

I think Muskaanein Jhooti Hai which itself is not that great is the best song of the album

Agree with Ritz’s comment that ‘“Hona hai kya” can easily pass as some Don series song’

Did not like the remix style music of Jiya laage na. Dont like Sona’s voice from SMJ days

Jee Le Zara starts off well and the music interlude is good but the song & lyrics seem routine.

“Laakh duniya kahe” sounds like a song from SMJ.

heard the first 1.5-2 mins of all songs.seems a rather ordinary effort. jthj scores well over this and thats not saying much.

    Another disappointing album.

Ram Sampath has a lot of Satyamev Jayate hangover.

I don’t remember when did Ram Sampath deliver a good album last time. His only album that worked (critically) was Delhi Belly, which was undeservingly high rated. The composers of his generation are far ahead of him, and all of them have their own distinctive stamp and style. Just look at the recent works of Amit, Sohail Sen, Sneha etc. I mean Sampath stands nowhere in front of them. And this album is a huge letdown, not just for a regular listner, but even going with the theme, this is easily forgettable.

Yes, the song “Laakh Duniya Kahe” is having SMJ hangover. But as I commented somewhere, it will be the theme song of the film.

Yes, its not an outstanding album but not a bad one either.

Overall, the songs could be in sync with the mood of the film – which is not a thriller but an emotional suspense drama. There are only 3 songs in the film and they too play in parts in background without a lip sync.

@Ritz – Lakh duniya kahe is picturised on Aamir on remembering his dead son.. I m sure in the movie ll hav only a para or two being played and not the entire song ( As many DB songs played ).. I feel this album is apt for the genre.. I can visualize Hona he kya being played in the BG wen aamir enters the red-light area for the first time to investigate the crime.. A para or two of Jiya lage nah ll be played in the BG wen Aamir n Rani are going through a rough patch.. Muskhaane joothi he ll be played after the end credits roll over.. Jee le zara is the only song wch I can’t visualize the situation 🙁

@Sneha, agree with all except the Hona Hai Kya bit – I dont see that song fitting in the film as its not a thriller by any means. Film doesn’t look like that. Its totally 50s/60s Hitchcock/cum Dev Anand style films as far as I can see from the promos.

On the contrary I think Laakh Duniya Kahe will be played multiple times and not just once.

Now it’s clear that it’s Rehman versus Pritam, for the next year awards. As i like JTHJ and Barfi albums equally, so it’s very interesting to see, who emerges as a winner. Because I don’t have any hopes from Dabangg 2 album, composed by an out-dated duo.

Yes bro, Khakee was a good time-pass album, but there are lot of such soundtracks that come and go. My point is that do this guy deserve a chance to compose for a movie like Talaash. Does he have any path-breaking album like Dev D, What’s Your Raashee, Love, Sex Aur Dhokha to his credit. I often quote him as ‘ AB jr of Indian music industry’. 😀

I liked only one song and that is Muskanien jhooti hain more so due to the singer. I like her voice even if she is not in her elements of taal and sur.
