Lovely song. Hadnt heard it for years – thanks.

“ek khatm ho toh ..dusri ..raat ..aa jaati hai
hothon pe phir bhuli hui baat aa jaati hai”

Simple yet effective lyrics by Gulzar.

Btw read this criticism on Gulzar yesterday:

“Gulzar’s sensitivity towards his characters is unparalleled but the problem with him is also this. He is forever speaking his language through all of them.
Whether its Maya of Ijaazat, Mohinder of Ijaazat or Sudha they all speak like Gulzar. Everyone uses his vocabulary, no one is ever short of poetry and everyone is dialogue perfect to the limit of being almost lyrical.”

I was reading on Nadira yesterday and I came across this piece – and I agree with it. Not that its a totally bad thing though.

About the post, my personal favorite of Shekhar Kapoor movies is the title song of Bandit Queen:

Excellent song and lyrics by Gulzar actually all the songs in this movie are great.

I liked especially line “ek khatm ho toh ..dusri ..raat ..aa jaati hai” when usually lyricists write “ye raat kab khatam hogi” / or “iss raat ki subah kab hogi” etc etc..

    My personal favorite lines are
    koi sune yaa naa sune
    kehti rehati hai
kuch likh ke aur kuch zubaani.

    Ek khatm ho to
    Doosari yaad aa jaati hai
    Hothhon pe fir bhooli hui
    Baat aa jaati hai.

This is a superbly directed scene from bandit queen. extremely disturbing

@ Baba, agree that it is disturbing

But i personally find the title song of the movie more disturbing…..matter of choice and sensibility.

ritz – just heard the full song again. what a song! Just as a sheer musician , i think nusrat is far more purer than rahman. his songs are just epic. saaware tere bin is also from bandit queen. another briliant song
