Some Scenes from The Dark Knight Rises

The best part from the film. Inspirational but the philosophy is nothing new

I liked the ending BGM and the whole build up was very promising only to see Bale smiling in the end with a cup of coffee along . Might have excited fans but it was lame ending.

The cliche in all prison-based films is there is always a buddha who knows every trick of how to escape from it but he himself never does it. He expects the hero to do it always. This scene is not about it though.

Very ordinary fight but I liked Bane’s dialogues

Good post Baba. Like the first scene the most.

Don’t like the second scene at all. Michael Caine is bad in the crying scene. They should have never shown Christian Bale in the final scene. They should have stopped with Michael Caine looking and smiling scene – have a open ending with people discussing whether Batman survived or died.

Third scene is also good. Liked Bane’s dialogues in the fourth scene too.

yes. the way you described was the best way to end the film. Of course ,not showing batman would have been interpreted in a positive way (that he is alive somewhere ) but it just creates an alternative possibility that he may have died for Gotham city. Both ways it would have been a far better option. Nolan knew that lot of BO expectations is riding on the film so he played as safe as possible. We blame hindi filmmakers when they do the same.

I guess rather than playing safe, i would say, not showing anything lives a possibility of sequel open.

Of what i read of nolan, his intention was to closed this triology, and that is what he does with this ending, mysterious or ambigious ending works best when there might be plan or something for a sequel… but here nolan wanted to bring it to a full point.

        • Baba Ji 11 years ago

well, then why not show batman died in the end? that would also bring a full point as well as it would be a real moving end. A superhero sacrificing his life for his city. This reminds me of the Harry Potter series . Its writer had once expressed the possibility of making harry potter die in the last part of the book. But she got such negative reactions from fans that she had to give way.

i guess, batman is a legend, its immortal, he cant die.

But atleast nolan showed mid way, that he retired.

To say alive or dead is too black and white, by chosing to show him retired it satisfies many things, like Bruce was always a troubled person, never lived ordinary life, by showing him die, those moral tensions of his characters shall have remained unexplained.

By showing that he finally came to himself, got the girl, saved the city and left his job, it gives much more meaning to the character IMO.

But i guess to each his own interpretation.

Brilliant Background score in the second scene.

sorry, but the Batman vs bane fight 1 was amazing. if you thought why they fought so slowly, it’s because Batman’s fighting style is keysi fighting method so no dance like slo mo. he underestimates bane and bane just plays with him initiallly. Those who have seen Batman begins will understand the significance of the prison scene. the track playing is ‘ why do we fall ‘
from the soundtrack.David goyer told that nolan had roughly plotted an outlineof the journey if Bruce Wayne when he was developing Batman begins. Nolan had this ending when they had done begins script and it didn’t change even after so many years. Again nolan’s endings are not always what people expect them to be ( memento, the prestige ,tdk, inception). Wayne had his moment of catharsis like Cobb. He emphasises in Begins that he wants to become an everlasting symbol. One more think many haven’t noticed- the music played in the teaser trailer is ‘rise’, the track played in the final scenes. Zimmer is a legend.

keysi fighting is basically “street fighting”. Hence it looks unimpressive on screen.A better form of street fighting is Krav Maga .It is used in Israeli military force. But one can have speed in even keysi fighting. Batman -bane fight if you see, it lacks speed. May be its Batmans Ghaghra that makes him slow. In a more comfortable dress,he may have done better 😀

No doubt whatsoever about the BGM of TDKR. The Bane chant is beyond epic. I like this one too.

    Baba Ji,
Zimmer is a legend no doubt and the BGM is great but I felt it too overpowering in some scenes.

BTW, the best scene of the movie is the escape from prison.EPIC

Gary Oldman Blasts Liberal Hollywood, Defends Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin

Gary Oldman has blasted Hollywood for what he perceives as a double standard — asserting that Bill Maher and Jon Stewart can get away with politically incorrect humor while others like Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin cannot.

The profanity-laced statements are included in an interview with the July-August issue of Playboy. The most explosive part of the interview includes attacks on Maher, Stewart and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, following his declaration that political correctness is “crap.”

“Well, if I called Nancy Pelosi a c*** — and I’ll go one better, a f****** useless c*** — I can’t really say that. But Bill Maher and Jon Stewart can, and nobody’s going to stop them from working because of it. Bill Maher could call someone a fag and get away with it. He said to Seth MacFarlane this year, ‘I thought you were going to do the Oscars again. Instead they got a lesbian.’ He can say something like that. Is that more or less offensive than Alec Baldwin saying to someone in the street, ‘You fag’? I don’t get it.”

Oldman, star of such films as “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” and the “Dark Knight” trilogy, also asserted that the culture in Hollywood during the past awards season was such that “if you didn’t vote for ’12 Years a Slave,’ you were a racist. You have to be very careful about what you say.”

He also expressed sympathy for Gibson, who declared in 2006 while being arrested that “Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.”

Gibson later apologized for the remarks.

“Mel Gibson is in a town that’s run by Jews, and he said the wrong thing because he’s actually bitten the hand that I guess has fed him – and doesn’t need to feed him anymore because he’s got enough dough,” Oldman said. “He’s like an outcast, a leper, you know?”

“I don’t know about Mel. He got drunk and said a few things, but we’ve all said those things,” the actor told Playboy during the interview, which began with a discussion of Oldman’s role in “Dawn of Planet of the Apes.”

“We’re all f****** hypocrites,” he added. “That’s what I think about it. The policeman who arrested him has never used the word n***** or that f****** Jew?”

“I’m being brutally honest here,” Oldman said. “It’s the hypocrisy of it that drives me crazy.”

Oldman also defended Baldwin’s use of homophobic language: “Alec calling someone an F-A-G in the street while he’s pissed off coming out of his building because they won’t leave him alone. I don’t blame him. So they persecute.”
