wow, thanks for sharing. Wonder why it was shelved. Looks like a lot of footage was canned and a lot of work had already been done. Must have led to a lot of losses.

      You are welcome.

Not sure why it was shelved. Wikipedia says financial problems led him to abandon it. But Shekhar Kapur has a history of not completing his movies. I think he starts working on a movie and gets disinterested in between.

He was supposed to be the director of Dushmani starring Sunny, Jackie and Manisha but it was completed by someone else. I think Prem, the debut movie of Sanjay Kapoor was supposed to be directed by Shekhar Kapur too but it was delayed by 5 years or so and completed by Satish Kaushik.

Heard a lot about the film in early 90s and sounded interesting…
Shekhar Kapur was suppose to direct Barsaat also which was finally finished by Rajkumar Santoshi

Bobby deol is probably only actor with same movie name twice. AB did Sholay 😉

Yeah remember reading about the movie in some newspaper/magazine back then and sounded very interesting.

I forgot to mention Barsaat. The new Sholay was “RGV Ki Aag”. But Amitabh did star in another Deewar with Sanjay dutt & co.

Was Shekhar Kapur supposed to direct Roop Ki Rani too?
