Good Scenes First Scene is the best.
A movie which inspired or provoked train of suicides in Madras, Its end was changed for south audience. A movie which made Raj kapoor to exlaim ” Wish he could have made this movie”. Every song in this movie is Gem by LP. I still feel Kamal wasted his chance in BW after EDKL… He simply did very bad movies after that.
One of the best love stories in BW. Love story which is happening ever day in india now, with less issues and hassles as in late 80’s.
India today had cover story on EDKL inspired Suicides in madras. More thn 100’s were found on beaches holding hand …
Yeah have read about the movie inspiring suicides in newspapers when I was a kid. Did not know there was a happy ending too. Found out only yesterday.
Agree that all songs are gems.
Kamal debuted with such a big hit and then could not capitalize on it. Some movies like Zara Si Zindagi and Ek Nai Paheli while good were either too real or too bold for Bollywood audiences. While he did get lot of acclaim and even Filmfare Best Actor award have read that Saagar flopped too.
Had seen the movie in the 90s a few times and loved it. Found the tragic ending a bit odd though – felt back then they could have still lived. Find some of it dated or melodramatic now. Also looks like they shot it in Chennai and passed it off as Bombay.
@sputnik
Zara si zindagi was too dark… It is dark for this age.. It will be lableled niche film in this age… I hv seen it number of times.. Thanks for reminding… It will get outdated coz times have changed… there was genuine cultural divide so One has to remember to appreciate the movie… They hv to change end for South audience as everyday they found couple on beaches…
Sagar is goo movie… but it came when kamal was down and sippy was also down and even Panchams music couldn’t save it. Consequences of sagar’s floping was bore by Pancham when all big directors esp, Ghai replaced him and pancham went into depression.
Sagar has grt songs, very very gorgeous seductive best dimple, one scene and few exceptional acting pieces from gr8 Kamal.. particulary when dimple comes to tell him her love for rishi and hotel scene.. one can watch sagar for songs, dimple and those 2 scenes
