Sanket’s Review : Tere Bin Laden : Dead or Alive

tbldoa The very idea of a comical spin-off on the infamous terrorist had caught my attention in the 2010’s “Tere Bin Laden” which I found a genuinely funny film. The sequel to “Tere Bin Laden” that releases this week takes the first part ahead in terms of story but unfortunately this film lacks the wit and sharpness of the first film.

The film does have a plot to speak of, but the writers fails to extract enough comedy from the plot. While there are few genuinely clever moments in first half, especially the one that involves Piyush Mishra, but the second half is staggeringly unfunny.

There is a definite attempt at comedy, but the attempt doesn’t necessarily convert into laughters. The film rests quite a lot on slapstick and pronounced comedy which clearly is not the director’s strength. What the film also doesn’t have is the novelty factor that first part had.

Pradyuman Singh as Impostor Osama does deliver few good comic lines but he was lot more funnier in the prequel. Piyush Mishra is the pick of the lot who is hilarious in some parts. The rest of the cast doesn’t really come across as funny. Sikandar Kher’s performance is particularly irritating after a point because he gets a role thats in-your-face and the lines that are anything but funny.

It’s not a film I will say that you should avoid it at all cost, but it’s definitely not worth of a ticket price if you are seeking for good comedy.

Rating : 2/5

Did not like the trailer for Tere Bin Laden: Dead or Alive and it was not funny at all. So not surprised that you found the movie to be unfunny.
