Tanu weds manu returns has interesting plot but goes haywire towards second half.
The best part of the film are the terrific gem of dialogues one after the other.
Now the problem is the story lags like anything. Even with interesting plot, the story doesn’t come across well. But because the pace of the film is fast and lot of things just pass away without holding onto them, one seldom feels it unconvincing which works in films favor.
Just like the first film, even here the emotional connect isn’t deep or the romance between the leads never blossoms. But because the film has funny situations and also excellent dialogues, some of the best of the recent times, the film’s momentum remains intact for major part.
Kangana is wonderful as haryanvi girl. Your heart goes out to this character and especially in the scene where she defends herself to be independent. Although the counterpart role of Tanuja gets saddled especially because of untimely swing in her character. Madhavan is good in his restrained performance. But its Deepak Dobriyal yet again who is in terrific form. He enjoys some of the most crackling dialogues and gets good screentime too.
Overall a fairly watchable comedy that works primarily for the dialogues mouthed by Deepak Dobriyal and the hilarious situations and of course a knockout performance by Kangana in the haryanvi character. What really the film misses is heart.
