Income Tax raids took place in Chiranjeevi’s son-in-law’s Chennai residence on Friday and Saturday (May 11 and 12). Vishnu Prasad’s residence and business firms were raided on these two days. Both Vishnu’s and his father Siva Prasad’s residences saw a raid.

During the raid several incriminated documents and cartons of cash were seized. It is said that 35 cartons with currency were seized from Vishnu’s residence and that the cash was hidden in a store room. The cash value is touted to be around 35 crore rupees. The value of the valuables, cash and documents will be disclosed shortly by the IT department.

Buzz is that Chiranjeevi stored the cash in his daughter’s house to use them during the by-elections. However, the actor-turned-politician has squashed them as baseless rumors. “These channels are trying to malign me. It is all baseless. The IT raids were part of the raids on Vishnu’s uncle Nandagopal’s residences. If there are any illegal transactions the IT department will speak about it. I am not connected with this issue”

Vishnu Prasad is married to Chiranjeevi’s elder daughter Sushmita.
