Rowdy Rathore has rocked the nation on Sunday at single screens and multiplexes and may go on to be the highest grossing film of 2012.
Although it has a lot of work to do over next few days but the trending over the weekend suggests huge appreciation all over and the way key stations that are important for the sustenance of a film have behaved suggest the film is set for a solid run and will put up huge lifetime numbers.
The weekend business is looking towards the 48 crore nett range, it may even go higher when final collections come in.
On Sunday multiplexes which rarely show Sunday growth as are situated in urban areas where people have to go to offices on Monday morning therefore late shows are weak were showing higher collections on Sunday than Saturday.

This trend of remaking ,infacf scene to scene copying is shameless but guess that is what is working now.So no problem in adapting to what will help you sustain.SRK finds himself in a difficult position here.He has changed games and rules before.Be it 93/94,be it 2000/2001 but this time masala wave is very strong.Infact it is so strong that if one remakes Ravi Teja’s Venky,one can be rest assured of a big hit.Also helping us the simulcast of action sagas from south on Set Max and Star Gold.If you notice the trend,5/8 films shown are from south.People have developed a liking to that sensibility.Good for akki that he has joined the party.But for SRK he can’t do such roles.Let us be honest here.But yes he can do masala in his own way like an OSO.Also SRK YRF project can only cross 100 barrier if the music is so exceptional that the audience is forces to the theater.Preliminary reports suggest it is close to being very good.Courtesy:AbidBhai.

U hv very less hopes from SRK-YRF film… why? RNBDJ did 86 crores 4 years back which is equivalent to 125 crores today.
I m appalled at the tollywoodization of bollywood… ppl r liking over the top, cheap,loud,vulgar movies. No point in blaming film makers – audience rules! Sad but true!
@Milind – Ajay is no competition to Srk and his BB looks very cheap and OTT. Even the synopsis of BB is bad which will fail at the boxoffice and will have an impact on his box office performance. So there is no point in underestimating LI. Now in this masala era if someone comes up with Romantic movie Chopra at the helm and Srk the marketing genius 😉 People will definitely appreciate it if its made well. I don’t think it can have any competition from Son of Sardars (if it does a rare case).

Even in Such Times, a ZNMD wid almost every possible Odd in the Book against it, roared it’s way to 90cr wid Spectacular WOM…This is the Business Aspect.
Now what supports the Business is the Content+Music, and this will matter the most when the Movie Releases alongside SOS on Diwali.
We never know, when the Junta(if Not the SS/Masses) takes to LI and makes it go past 120cr.
But the damn content needs to be Liked by an Overall Majority.
‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ for me remains the only Spectacular Romantic Movie for me of SRK post2000.
I hope, Shahrukh has learned from his Mistakes & if he has Genuine Talent then he Focusses on Movie rather then it’s Opening/Buzz/Marketing.
A Strong Romantic Movie in these Times f Masala/Action/Comedy will be Highly Respected.
LI will open well even in single screens. If I am not wrong, even RNBDJ had strong start at single screens until Ghajini turned up.
LI will have excellent opening because SRK+YR+Kat+Rahman+Diwali is something to die for (audience’s view). I am worried about SOS.
If LI as a movie connects with audience, it will have terrific 16 days of its run. even if Talaash disturbs its run, it will still be collecting in double digit figures in week three.
I cant wait for november-december period (5 big films are turning up in two months- PHENOMENAL).
@milind-bro u being srk fan might want to believe srk bigger than sallu n akki…but that’s far from the truth.i accept when it comes to romantic movies no one is bigger than srk.if all top 5 stars release a romantic movie and all have good promos and music..ppl will prefer to watch srk first.that being said when it comes to masala action movies none is bigger than salman followed by akki and if top 5 stars releases masala movie simultaneously wid similar promos n music ppl will choose to watch salman first.in short srk has his own genre where he rules n salman hhas his own.aamir is much more adaptable than both.
as for masala and comedy movies as long as the movies are entertaining this genre wont die coz above all public wants entertainment first and foremost and as long as the movies continue to make u laugh like rowdy or ready or singham or wanted did(doesnt matter how they make u laugh) it will live on.
akki had his downfall after 2007 coz he started doing the same kind of loud comedy over and over again and ppl could almost predict the comedy part.this is where salman as of now hasnt failed coz even though most his movies look similar on surface especiallly the action parts..the comedy has managed to surpirse.
The biggest rule for comedy is never have a predictable pattern..coz wen it come to comedies u can have the same story but if u treat the comic parts differently..there wont be a problem
Frndz dnt b so negative abt srk-yrf nxt just becoz its a love story nd nt sum remake of crap masala movie frm south. IMO it has better chances of being a success coz a love story starring a superstar is long awaited… Srk just hav to act as he actd in KHKN and d movie is sureshot sucess…. And if movie is entertaining it vil do equally gud business in ss as well as multiplex. It is a potential ATBB nd a contender of ‘movie of the year’….

Agree Milind, Srk in “his element” is best and I loved him in films like “Baadshah”, or “Oh Darling” …didnt like it when he was not not his self – like all romantic films …..
But only thing is – he has to wear goggles now to make it look good. As he is not looking good without it these days.

@Milind, I didnt follow IPL. Have hardly seen him in cricet matches at stadium. But whenever I see him these days in press conf or in some events …he is always with goggles – and I can make out that his eyes are pale and he is trying to cover his age with wearing goggles.

Only thing is he looks like a total addicted and depressed person at “his” age.
