Delhi,Punjab,Bengal and Mysore are reported to have underperformed. These are important territories.I think if the buzz of RR was like BG ,AP ,it would have done atleast 5 cr more on day 1.

What content u r referring to in RR? I am shocked!

  7. narad_muni 12 years ago

    Serenzy,
as a movie lover. do u want this kind of loud n terrible south movies to be remade – which assaults ur sensibilities?

I am puzzled… I thought Bollywood has bid good bye to this kind of movies some 20 years back… but luks like they r back n how!

I always used to make fun of the loud masala movies of the south…now I feel ashamed, seriously! We r going backward big time! I hope BW does not become the telugu ‘factory’

  8. Serenzy 12 years ago

    Shilu,

“What content u r referring to in RR?”

I meant on an Overall Basis yaar(Not RR, I am yet to see it) that this year has been Good BO & Movie Content Wise.

“as a movie lover. do u want
this kind of loud n terrible
south movies to be remadeโ€“which assaults ur sensibilities”

It depends upon how u take it Shilu…I take it as Harmless Fun Entertainer gtting to see Some Action and if It appeals to me, it Works for me.
    Eg: Ghajini, Wanted,Singham, Dabangg

Similarly, sometimes if assaults my senses also and gets on my Nerves like BG, Ready, G3, Force.

And, a Dhobi Ghat/Paheli shouldnt Necesarrily be Better Movie than a ‘Wanted’.
That’s as Pseudo Intellectual as u can get.

“I hope BW does not become the telugu โ€˜factoryโ€™

No it Wont…. Bcz ders always BBB,PKP,PST,VD,KKG,LSD,Rock On etc etc etc working and getting Highly Appreciated.

Yes, dey arent among the Top5 Grossers but they gtting accepted is a Huge Plus.

    • narad_muni 12 years ago

      champ,
if producers know that they can make way money by remaking a south movie with zero creativity, the number of producers baking a sensible film with a fresh idea/approach will become increasingly less. There is a high chance of that in coming days.

Masala movie can be made without assaulting our sensibilities… Sholay is the epitome of a masala movie IMO.
I am not against masala movies but then that does not mean it has to be so loud, vulgar, cheap.

After how long we have seen such kind of film? i guess the last one was Agneepath. After gap of 4 months we have seen such film which is towered with icings of all masala ingredients. So such films after a good gap is very refreshing as long as people are liking it. If people dont like these kind of films, then they can sit home and wait for a week and can have Shanghai.

And you cannot make these kind of films with Ranbir or Imran or Shahid or SRK for that matter. It could be made only with 5-6 super-stars. And there are many different stars who make films. This year should be celebrated for the kind of films people have accepted!

And while making a film like Dabangg/singham/RR/AP, the producer should think of those maximum number of audience who will watch it rather than those few of minority who dont like such kind of films.

Films like RR does well because they have something in the name of entertainment, something for which public spend their hard earned money. And no film insults anyone’s intelligence.

    This all is just IMO.

    • narad_muni 12 years ago

dont hv time n energy for a long reply.

      Only a few things –

Just like it was your IMO, my opinion is my IMO ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. I have seen more of Telugu films and how the industry works than u… sincerely hope we dont go that way!
      2. Rite nw, there are 5-6 heroes for such films, tomorrow there may b 40-50. Who knows! And remember producers r not creative ppl, they r money minded businessmen!
      3. It’s nt about intelligence, it’s abt sensibilities. N u can’t say whether a film is difficult to digest for my sensibility … u can say for yours.

      Over and out!

  10. sanket porwal 12 years ago

I would like to say only one thing-

If ALL producers were money minded then films like PST, Kahaani, Saheb Biwi aur gangster, and many many more wouldn’t have been made ever!

    • narad_muni 12 years ago

How many ppl saw PST or SBG?

All these different films are typically made on a shoe-string budget with less known stars mostly…. means there is serious compromise made on the technicalities and lack of stars result in the movie not even reaching to the majority of the audience.

I am not against masala..I guess u r missing the point… The telugu film industry is not a creative one, its more like a factory which does hero worshiping and the whole point in making a movie is to glorify the hero is a never-before-manner.

Now, bollywood has such an easy success formula to copy-paste those movies… why won’t more n more ppl jump into the bandwagon?

      • narad_muni 12 years ago

Btw, I like AP quite a bit.. though some parts were dragging a bit… but it had some real intense scenes anf good drama.. I don’t think RR and AP can be classified as same ‘masala’ just because both are action movies
