Awesome interview…….Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan are probably the only two Superstars to have witnessed phenomenal levels of mass hysteria in the country. Women wrote letters to Rajesh Khanna in their blood and later were ready to shed it as sacrifice in places of worship in order to rescue Amitabh Bachchan from the clutches of death, when he met with the unfortunate accident on the sets of Coolie(1982). Nobody after them, not even Shah Rukh Khan has been able to evoke that kind of fan following. Khanna and Bachchan arguably may have been the last two true Superstars of India!!!
As stars both Rajesh and Amitabh are behind what Dilip Kumar was in his young days.

No I don’t’ have anything from the 50s but I will definitely share if I find anything related to Dilip.
Dilip Kumar may be great in many people’s opinion but did he have the nation’s mass following ad Rajesh Khanna or Amitabh Bachchan!! Bachchan has been and still remains the national icon which the others have not had the privilege of being confered to. Whilst there is no denying the former two achieved greatness in the field the latter has achieved much outside the film industry. So the facts speak for themselves to put the matter out of arguments or opinions! !
