Raja Natwarlal Boxoffice Collections Thread

rajanatwarlal Raja Natwarlal had poor collections on day one as it collected around 5 crore nett on day one. Mumbai circuit was a bit better as Gujarat and Saurashtra fared better and by far the best collections across India. It was a holiday in Maharashtra and Gujarat and that helped Mumbai circuit compared to rest of India but even with holiday Mumbai can not be called good.

The rest of the country was poor with North and Central recording dull collections and also not showing that major jump in the evening shows which was needed.

Normally a film like Raja Natwarlal would grow from this level but as Mumbai has been helped by holiday that circuit may not be able to grow so will be depending on other circuits for growth.

Mary Kom Has Decent Start Singham Returns To End Run At 140 Crore
    Saturday 06 September 2014 10.30 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Mary Kom had a decent opening on at multiplexes while single screens could not do much even where it was tax exempt. The film had a huge number of screenings at multiplexes so despite average occupancies the overall figures are good.

Raja Natwarlal was poor in its first week with collections around 20.50 crore nett.

Mardaani dis prety well in week two as it dropped 65% to collect around 8 crore nett and take its two week total to 3 crore nett.

Singham Returns added around 4 crore nett in week three taking its total to around 139 crore nett. The film will finish around 140 crore nett. The collections have dropped fast after a huge first week.

Mary Kom Has Fair First Day Business
    Saturday 06 September 2014 12.30 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Mary Kom grossed a decent 7.50 crore nett on day one with multiplexes showing good figures while single screens were poor. The film is depending on metro multiplexes which should grow further today while business in mass circuits is below the mark. The huge volume of screenings at multiplexes also helped in putting up good totals at multiplexes.

The high end multiplexes across all metros gave a good contribution while business in UP, Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Bihar and Gujarat was dull. In these areas business was similar to last weeks Raja Natwarlal which was a dud.

The film has fetched a decent price for its all India theatrical rights and then wherever it has been sold and needs to get a lifetime figure of 55-60 crore nett to cover so good growth is imperative today.

    Friday – 7,44,00,00
    Saturday – 9,10,00,000

The film should follow up with good growth on Sunday but it is Monday and Tuesday that will decide if the film will become a hit.

Mary Kom Does Good Business In First Weekend
    Monday 08 September 2014 10.00 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Mary Kom had a good weekend as it grossed around 27.50 crore nett in its first weekend. The business was mixed as far as individual circuits were concerned with the ones dominated by multiplexes doing well while others were dull to average.

The best business came in Mumbai, Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Mysore and West Bengal. The business is very good for a female centric film with just Priyanka Chopra as the only recognisable face in the film. It is the highest weekend of all time for such a film. Even no sex/horror genre film has got such figures where the only face value is female lead.

Mary Kom also showed a good trend over the weekend with 20% approx growth on Saturday and Sunday which should hold it in good stead for the weekdays. The only problem is that some in the trade thought it would do very good business and paid pretty high prices. The all India domestic rights went for 26 crore and then some territories were sold for sold at good prices and on that it needs the weekdays to sustain well so it can go towards recovery. A circuit like CP Berar was sold for 1.5 crore and the weekend share is 70 lakhs so it has a lot of work to do in such circuits.

The territorial breakdown will be updated in the afternoon.

the opening of finding fanny has exposed deepikas non stardom

    • yakuza 10 years ago

Another non-sense .. with such thanda promos and niche target audience, who expected it to open better than this ?

      • Baba 10 years ago

having sily cheap songs like shake your bootiay on the floor a sign of niche films? 😉 atleast try to make some sense. thanda promos is the problem of the filmmaker and the actor. this one is released in hindi , has deepika in the same look/role like she has in other films and also a reasonable big actor.

    • yakuza 10 years ago

Today .. when even Hero stardom trigger only with wholesome package .. how one can expect female stardom to explode with niche movies ?

these are excuses.how did new york do well inspite of being offbeat?

After 3I Dhobi Ghat with Aamir in it did 2.85 Cr on its first day and this has done 4-4.25 crore nett on its first day. BoxofficeIndia says that they have released a English version and a Hindi version but the trailer was completely in English. And the trailer was not funny at all and it just looked like a weird movie.

I don’t understand why they were marketing the movie so much by appearing on TV shows when it was supposed to be a niche movie. Agree they should not had that Shake Your Bootiya song. It was crap and it had a weird video too.

Finding Fanny Is Decent At Premium Multiplexes
      Saturday 13 September 2014 12.30 IST
      Box Office India Trade Network

Finding Fanny picked up in the evening at premium multiplexes which was always likely as the these multiplexes always do better business in the evening. The difference between the business of Finding Fanny and Creature was this pick up otherwise they would have ended up with similar figures. The first day collections of Finding Fanny are around 4-4.25 crore nett. The first day totals of some circuits are as follows.

      Delhi/UP – 90,00,000
      East Punjab – 49,00,000
      Rajasthan – 15,00,000
      CP Berar – 11,00,000
      CI – 11,00,000

The film should do around 1.50 crore nett plus in Mumbai due to decent figures in Mumbai city and Pune but still despite the pick up, the first day return of 4 crore nett is not so good for the amount of marketing done on the film.

The film will show growth on Saturday as the multiplexes that picked up on Friday will follow through on Saturday but it remains to be seen how much it grows. If it can get that 50% growth it can come out with a decent weekend.

aamir was not the lead in DG sputnik. this is has done 4 cr? creature 3d with a non starcast and aging bipasha has done 3 cr!

        • sputnik 10 years ago

So was Aamir the lead in TZP or RDB? I did not see any guest appearance/special appearance credit for Aamir in the movie and neither did Aamir or Kiran say that he has a guest appearance to my knowledge. In fact the credits highlight his name as “And Aamir Khan”. He had as much role as Prateik.

Prateik’s commercial movie Ekk Deewana Tha did 60 lakhs nett on its first day one year after DG. Link

          • Baba 10 years ago

hmmm. well dg was a failure for aamir more as a producer. he definitely expected the movie to do a lot better.

Finding Fanny Does Well On Saturday
    Sunday 14 September 2014 12.00 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Finding Fanny did well on Saturday as collections improved around 40% as it grossed around 5.75-6 crore nett. The film seems to be liked by its target audience at premium multiplexes although its a limited audience. It remains to be seen how well it can hold on the weekdays. Surprisingly the Hindi version is doing better than the English version and the growth on Saturday came mainly from the Hindi version.

The two day business till date is as follows.

    Friday – 4.25 crore
    Saturday – 5.75-6 crore

    TOTAL – 10-10.25 crore nett

The film is a hit in Mysore which is expected as these types have an audience in that circuit and has grossed around 1.3 crore nett in Mysore in two days which is more than films Mary Kom, Entertainment and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

Creature 3D could not do much as collections were roughly the same as Friday

    Finding Fanny Struggles On Sunday
    Monday 15 September 2014 11.00 IST
    Box Office India Trade Network

Finding Fanny struggled on Sunday as it could not show much growth from Saturday though Saturday did show a good jump. The film is mainly collecting at premium multiplexes and these tend to drop on Sunday evening and also the film has nothing for the family audience so this is probably why the film could not collect well on Sunday. Still it is a fair weekend for Finding Fanny of around 16.50 crore nett.

    Friday – 4,25,00,000
    Saturday – 6,00,00,000
    Sunday – 6,25,00,000

    TOTAL – 16,50,00,000

The fate of the Finding Fanny will be decided by the weekday business though that solid growth on Saturday gives it a chance to hit the average mark if it can sustain over the weekdays and into the second weekend.
