Thanks aryan. Updated the post with the Deepika Poster.
The Deepika poster is bad especially her face. Looks like they overdid the Photoshop.
Luking frwrd to it… Odd Poster though.
There are only two films that deserve to be a part of the franchise, those are DON and Dhoom series. The sequels that are coming from the Bhatt camp are the real crapfest, those are not actually deserve to call as a sequel. And the others like Race, Dabangg etc. are also just to cash the business of their prequel, otherwise there is no need to make their sequels. Regarding the above first look, I only want to say this is a laughably poor poster to say the least.
agreed.
“others like Race, Dabangg etc. are also just to cash the business of their prequel, otherwise there is no need to make their sequels. ”
@mate – agree on Race, Dabangg and Bhatt films – but how is Dhoom a deserving franchise? Well I have seen Dhoom 1 and 2 only in parts – so dont know if part 2 was a sequel or not. I guess it was not. !?!
Regarding Don – havent seen Don2 so dont know.
Ritz, I did’nt say Don and Dhoom are franchise, I said they deserve to be a part of the franchise. Franchises cross generations and age demographics, it is such a wider term that these are miles behind to fulfil its criteria. Every age group knows about James Bond and most everyone has seen a Bond film. Thus, Bond is a franchise. As this is bollywood, so standard of being a franchise should be low. 😉
Franchise need not necessary to be a sequel, as a story is built from an existing franchise with a large fan base, so I think Dhoom is very well deserved to be a part of the franchise and same for Munnabhai Series. Whereas sequel moves the
story of it’s prequel forward, and DON 2 is the prime example of a perfect sequel, and I am not surprised If it turn out to be a franchise in future. So according to the definition of franchise/sequel, the movies I mentioned in the previous comment are neither a sequel, leave franchise alone.
You know sequel is a common practice in west, so when a movie does well, a sequel is inevitable because a sequel rarely does fail, And same trend is followed here too for a couple of years. Unfortunately, what our producers do, whenever they give a hit, next time they randomly choose a story and named it as a sequel just to cash the business of the previous one. I am neither against the sequels nor making money from sequels, but atleast there should be a proper sequel.
Agree Mate.
Dhoom 1 was not a great shake either (John was highlight). It was Dhoom 2 which raised the bar by quite few notches high. Again, to be more precise, it was Hritik who made the difference. His body language and performance took to the movie to another level.
So actually there are three potential franchise in bollywood, DON, Dhoom and Munnabhai. 😀

Also You shouldn’t Forget ‘HeraPheri’ series,If this One be Made today , then it’ll be Take B-Town in another level even bigger than Munnabhai Series IMO.
