I had posted the song Photograph by Ed Sheeran as Song of the Day some time back. Just found out that he has been sued for $20M for allegedly copying from the song Amazing by Matt Cardle. Here is the song Amazing by Matt Cardle starting with the similar part.
And here is the corresponding part from the song Photograph by Ed Sheeran and it looks like there is definite similarity. Continue reading →
The TE3N trailer is good but it is very similar to the Korean movie Montage. The plot of Montage on IMDB says “15 years ago, a mother lost her child in a kidnapping case. A similar crime happens again and she won’t let him go this time.” The synopsis below the Montage trailer says “The statue of limitations is about to run out on a kidnap crime case that occurred 15 years ago. The mother who lost her child, the detective with a guilty conscience, and the kidnapper with his own secret. The three characters traumatized by the case try to solve it before it’s too late. ” Montage has a grandfather character too but it looks like they made the grandfather character the one searching for the child instead of the mother and instead of 15 it is 8 years.
Today is the birthday of Ray Dorset, the lead singer of the British band Mungo Jerry. The song Haseena Gori Gori from Tarazu was a big hit in the late 90s. It was inspired/copied from the song In the summertime by Shaggy which itself was a cover version of In the summertime by Mungo Jerry.
Quentin Tarantino has always been famous or infamous for ripping off scenes from various movies. Cowboys & Indians had pointed to this first and The Hateful Eight definitely borrows from the episode Fair Game of the TV show The Rebel which was aired in 1960. There are way too many similarities like the whole thing taking place at a stagecoach station, a bounty hunter with a female prisoner, a poisoning incident and then everyone under suspicion, the prisoner offering a deal and so on. Even some of the lines are similar. Check out the episode Fair Game of TV show The Rebel.
Check out this excellent scene of Robert De Niro as Al Capone from Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables. The movie was nominated for Oscars for Best Art Direction – Set Decoration, Best Costume Design and Best Score. Here is my detailed comment on the movie. Link
Today is Laura Branigan’s birthday. The song In The Night No Control from Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi starring Akshay Kumar and Rekha was copied from her song Self Control. Music was by Anu Malik. Bits of the song are also inspired/copied from Madonna’s Secret.
By now everyone has probably heard or read that Ek Villain is inspired/copied from I Saw the Devil. It was obvious from the theatrical trailer itself that it may have been inspired from it. So here are all the Ek Villain Scenes Inspired/Copied from I Saw the Devil.
First here is the theatrical trailer of Ek Villain.
In Ek Villain Shraddha Kapoor is on the phone with her husband Sidharth when Riteish attacks her with a screwdriver. She begs him to leave her as she is pregnant. He leaves and comes back and throws her off the balcony. In I Saw the Devil the heroine’s car has a flat tire and she is on the phone with her husband when the villain Choi Min-sik asks her if she needs help. She declines saying the tow truck is going to arrive. He leaves and comes back and attacks her with a hammer. He takes her to his place and she begs him to leave her as she is pregnant but he still kills her. Here is the scene where Choi Min-sik attacks her. Unfortunately the scene where she tells him she is pregnant is not available online.
Akele Hum Akele Tum’s song Dil Mera Churaya Kyun Inspired/Copied from Last Christmas is probably known to everyone already. Music is by Anu Malik. Posting it today coz its birthday of George Michael, the lead singer of Wham!
Check out a very famous Arabic song Mustafa Ya Mustafa by Rida Boutrus, a Lebanese singer. The song was originally sung by Bob Azzam from Turkey and later on sung by many other singers all around the world.
Watched this short film A Silent Melody on NDTV. It seems inspired from the 2008 Australian short film Signs directed by Patrick Hughes. This is not the first time that a short film has been inspired from Signs. Paperman which won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film last year was also inspired from the same short film.
Here is the trailer of Shekhar Suman directed Heartless.
And it looks very similar to the trailer of the 2007 movie Awake starring Hayden Christensen, Jessica Alba and Terrence Howard. Not sure if its official remake or if it is inspired/copied. Thanks to youtube user Gaurav Patel for this info. Here is the trailer of Awake.
Check out the hit song Tamally Ma’ak by Amr Diab on his birthday.
The song was copied/plagiarized as Kaho Na Kaho in the movie Murder.
“‘Kaho na kaho’ is sung by Pakistani singer Amir Jamal and is his composition from his 2003 album by the same name. If you had heard the song, you’d have noticed Arabic lyrics that goes, ‘…tamally ma’ak’. And there lies the twist! This song was originally composed by Sherif Tag (lyrics by Ahmed Ali Mousa) and sung by Arabic singer Amr Diab under the name (what else?) ‘Tamally Ma’ak’ in the year 2000 (from the album of the same name). Amir Jamal simply lifted this song and added Hindi lyrics and used it in his album. This song has also found its way in to ‘Murder’, thanks to the Bhatts! Its one thing to copy a song with no credit whatsoever to its original composer and its completely another thing to use the same title/ lyrics in the copied version!” Link
The Official Ragini MMS 2 Teaser has been removed from Youtube because of a copyright claim by The Black Angels. Link The Official Teaser has used or plagiarized the music from the song “Young Men Dead” by The Black Angels for the background score. Someone named Nilesh Sharma commented on the Facebook page of The Black Angels that “A movie name ragini mms 2 (indian) has used music of The young one Dead (my fav).” Link Looks like whoever managed the page of The Black Angels promptly filed a copyright claim against Ragini MMS 2 on Youtube.
Here is the song “Young Men Dead” by The Black Angels.
Since the Official Teaser has been removed here is another video on youtube which will probably be removed soon too. As one can see the background music used in Ragini MMS 2 is a total rip off from the music of the song “Young Men Dead” by The Black Angels.
