    @Baba,

You are using TAM rating of 11.1 for KBC 2 from indiantelevision.com but taking 5.3 rating of Shahrukh Khan in KBC from Times of India?

Take it from the same source. SRK’s KBC opened at 9.3

sputnik – in case of big b ,the media narrative is congruent to the trps reported but not in case of srk.Infact none of the other section of media confirms it.If you can find me one prominent media link that confirms 9 trp then i wil change it.

Relying on one source is not always right,It is like quoting BOI always and thinking you are fair.

      • sputnik 12 years ago

The Times of India article is talking of ratings from AMAP and it clearly says the TAM ratings are not out yet in that article. It mentioned the individual city TRPs of Amitabh’s KBC but not the total TRP.

You have picked the 11.1 TRP from indiantelevision.com and I just changed the startperiod and endperiod. So the 9.3 is according to the same TRP measuring agency that said it is 11.1 for Amitabh’s KBC.

If you are going to go by 11.1 for Amitabh’s KBC according to them you have to accept the 9.3 for SRK’s KBC from them too. You cannot pick and choose.

What the media narrative is or, what people on online forums think or what the perception is totally immaterial and nonsense.

show me any other link.instead of making arguments.

          • sputnik 12 years ago

Then don’t use indiantelevision.com ratings if you think they are biased in favor of SRK.

You are also using the same “I will go with whoever gives highest to my star and lowest to other stars’.

“TAM Media is the undisputed leader in the business of television ratings. On the other hand, aMap has not been able to gain much stranglehold despite being in the business since 2004, in this off screen TRP war.”

“Aamir Khan’s television debut show, Satyamev Jayate, has recorded an overall rating of 4.27 TVR (including terrestrial of DD) in the six metros of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.”

This is what i was saying.Indiatv gives rating for one channel. The show is simulcasted and this 4.27 is just for metros. All India will be higher than 5.srk fans are in a hurry to run aamir down.

    • sputnik 12 years ago

If the regional collections of a Hindi movie (which is dubbed in the regional language) are not considered as collections of the Hindi movie should the regional TRP of a Hindi TV show (which is dubbed in regional language) be considered in the TRP of the Hindi TV show? 😉

Its funny that you are asking another link to confirm the 9.3 TRP. TAM is the source media uses its ratings in their articles. Media does not calculate rating – if they are using TAM it should be 9.3 because TAM is saying 9.3 on their very own website.

Anyways you want another link. So here it is.

“The most recent example is Shah Rukh’s Paanchvi Pass. When compared to his earlier crore-caper, KBC 3, that opened with a TRP of 9.3 in January 2007, the first episode of this show only managed 4.6, slipping to 3.7 in the second. Yes, they may have beat IPL for one hour, but the question is will it sustain?”

and it’s not just about game shows because no other star has been able to open their shows like KBC 4 or 5 let alone anything earlier. With the exception of Abhishek’s Bingo which I believe had a stronger opening (though it didn’t sustain).

9.8 on One channel vs 4 or 5 watever on umpteen channels– kya baat hai babaji 😛

    • Baba Ji 12 years ago

any other link for 9 trp?

      • Milind 12 years ago

TAM is d standard one! guess dat is why you using it for big b nd aamir too. LOL!

        • Baba Ji 12 years ago

Think about this.We know Trps keep decreasing every year.so factually srks 9 trp might be as good as kbc 2.Hrithiks just dance in 2011 had opened slightly above kbc 5 and aamirs show is getting in same range (4-5) in 2012.So it is possible that SJ has performed well considering its launch time 😀 what do you say?

          • Milind 12 years ago

See I am still up for SJ–It touches good chords but the “fake” intent of aamir is unbearable.

  5. Milind 12 years ago

That too with DD which has highest reach just adding 0.47..that is utterly butterly dismal..

  6. sputnik 12 years ago

    @Baba,

    DKD opened at 3.35.

“The first two episodes of Dus Ka Dum, telecast on 6 and 7 June, delivered an average TVR of 3.35 and 2.7 respectively. ”

    https://www.indiantelevision.com/headlines/y2k8/july/july144.php

This says only 2.8 TVR for Just Dance but this is for only one channel. Cumulative TRP of 4.7 is right.

Despite much hype, Aamir Khan’s talk show Satyamev Jayate got an average TV rating of 2.9 across the six metros in its debut episode on May 6. The rating was far lower than those of most other celebrity-hosted shows, the most significant being Amitabh Bachchan’s Kaun Banega Crorepati.

The preliminary rating, released by STAR India on its flagship channel STAR Plus, was based on the average viewership across Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The more predominantly Hindi-speaking metros — Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata — clocked a television rating (TVR) of 3.8. The TVR reflects the percentage of viewers watching a programme at a particular time.

According to TAM Media Research, 14.41 million viewers tuned in to watch Aamir’s show. The show was among the top five trends in India on microblogging website Twitter and within a few hours of its going on air, the show’s website crashed twice.

But, experts doubt whether it will be able to sustain its ratings. Weeks of hype might have helped the initial rating, they said. Broadcasting industry officials, however, said it could not be compared with other reality shows due to its content and timing. “Considering the seriousness of the content and having the Sunday 11 am slot, the ratings are good, but advertisers may be disappointed as sponsorship and spot rates were sold at a premium,” said an executive from a rival broadcaster.

The title sponsorship has been hawked at Rs 16-20 crore, while associate sponsors have paid Rs 6-7 crore. The 10-second advertising spots are sold for around Rs 8-10 lakh, according to media buyers. The show has eight sponsors, with Airtel being its presenting sponsor and AquaGuard the co-sponsor. Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Skoda Auto, Axis Bank, Berger Paints and Dixcy Scott have been signed up as associate sponsors.

The show is touted to be one of the most expensive television productions on any Hindi general entertainment channel, with costs per episode running up to Rs 4 crore. Other celebrity shows cost less than Rs 3 crore per episode.

Brand Aamir Benefits From Satyamev Jayate ; Channel May Not!

Beginning with eight sponsors, namely Airtel, AquaGuard, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Skoda Auto, Axis Bank, Berger Paints and Dixcy Scott; Satyamev Jayate is said to be one of the most expensive TV shows on Hindi general entertainment channels, with costs per episode speculated to be running up to Rs 4 crore.

In its latest report, the Business Standard claims that despite much excitement and audience impact, Satyamev Jayate has got an average TV rating of 2.9 across the six metros in its debut episode.

“The show’s ratings are lower than other celebrity-hosted reality shows. For instance, Sony’s Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 5 had opened with a TVR of 5.24, while Shah Rukh Khan’s Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain opened around 4. Akshay Kumar’s Khatron Ke Khiladi got 4.4 while Salman Khan’s Dus Ka Dum fetched 2.2,” states the report, quoting a media buyer on the condition of anonymity.

The report also quotes an executive from a rival channel claiming that advertisers may be disappointed as sponsorship and spot rates were sold at a premium.

Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar points out, “Even if the show doesn’t grow in TRP ratings, it will eventually do a world of good to Brand Aamir Khan. The actor has connected with urban as well as rural audiences and the show has already been hailed as revolutionary.”

“Of course, the most sensible move would be to drastically cut down on production budgets, so that it becomes more viable for its advertisers,” analyses the celebrity publicist. “Nevertheless, Aamir has earned a place in history for attempting a bold concept like this in a country mired with corruption, political infighting, scams and frauds,” adds the PR specialist.

Meanwhile, Satyamev Jayate is said to be trying to recreate the enthusiasm for the Sunday morning time slot, which once upon a time belonged to the extremely famous Ramayana and Mahabharata on Doordarshan.

    Damn the TRP’s guys.

I liked the Show but in parts and not as a whole.

Cannot bear it for 1.30hrs conti(Delhi Belly is a Better option) but it’s good show to watch while swapping thru 2 channels.

The main problm is it doesn’t blow u out totally OR demand ur complete attention at one go…It kinda doesn’t make u go Wow(doesn’t hit ur heart directly…Takes it own chweet time to build up).

But, it’s good, Magician is putting frwrd a point thru it.
His brand will get a Huge Boost no doubt.

Overall, it dint meet my sky-high expectations but good to watch nonetheless…
    Not Unberable.
    🙂

    looking frwrd to other topics.
