1st day collections used as base in case of films with 5/6 day weekends :-

Ek Tha Tiger** : Grew 5.9 times from opening day – Flop (opening day 31.25 cr / lifetime net 186.15 cr) The film does not get the next-level verdict advantage due to a huge opening since the next level for this trending is also Flop.

Chakravyuh : Grew 5.2 times from opening day – Flop (opening day 3.3 cr / lifetime net 17 cr)

Jab Tak Hai Jaan** : Grew 5.6 times from second day – Flop (second day 18 cr / lifetime net 101.6 cr)

Son Of Sardar** : Grew 6.1 times from second day – Flop (second day 14.5 cr / lifetime net  88.7 cr)

** Taken second day as base for JTHJ and SOS as first day was Diwali which is like a half-day in terms of box office collections.

this theory fails for films which have more than regular (fri, sat, sun) 3 day weekends. and why do you have separate rule for films with 5/6 day weekends but not for 4 day weekends? 😀

4 day weekends are like normal weekends with an extra holiday which any film can get. Dabangg too had a national holiday on its first Tuesday but I would still treat it as a 3-day weekend.

98% agreed with your post. Only disagree on JTHJ and Talaash, the former was a solid HIT and the latter was a complete Disaster. Rest of the verdicts are fine.

      97.2345% agree with you

JTHJ is SKBB (Shahrukh Khan Blockbuster)

Talaash is AKD (Aamir Khan disaster)

Gone are the days when movies were judged on trending. Its foolish to judge movies on the basis of trending Now.

Now movies releases every week and so the existing movies doesnt have much Screen space to trend and most of the end of third week most of the movies are out of theatres.

Btw does your trending theory consider factors like No. Of screens on which movies released and how much screen space was left after 2nd or 3rd week and whether the movie had open weeks or not?

David- weekend 1.25 approx and lifetime shud be 4cr. Your verdict- Hit
isnt it funny that a movie which collects 186cr is a trending Flop and a movie which collects 4cr is a trending Hit.
That indicates a movie Should trend to collect 4cr but it can collect 186cr without trending. What a joke! (karan arjun eshtyle)

    Redemonn,

Realistically Speaking, that’s NOT how David is Trending for Starters.

If you were asking what if it happened like that, yes there is a chance that David cud have got HIT on Trending Scale.

    • Reddemon 11 years ago
