Did not like Heer, Laapata or Daru Desi…
Daru Desi was plain noise for me, Laapata was like a 90s song and that too its initial part resembling the track called “dance music” from aamir’s Mann
Heer was Rahman trying to be something in punjabi–I found it very similar to this song by stereo nation
Balma was actually a surprise…I quite liked the RD burman mixing they did. I also Liked Aa re pritam pyaare from Rowdy Rathore.
The initial part does resemble the Dance Music track but I think it could be some Cuban folk music or song.
I don’t see any similarity between Heer and the Stereo Nation song apart from that they are both Punjabi songs.
I thought of AA re Pritam Pyare but decided to go with Balma.

I don’t know whether the thread is about award worthy songs/ musically rich and high on vocals, or instant catchy/ timepass fun intended numbers. Anyway, my choices represent the former case. If I have to choose the latter kind of songs, then I think every movie has atleast one catchy song, so out of hundred movies released in a year, one can choose more than two hundred songs that are likeable/ catchy/ easy on ears.
I said these are what I think the best songs of 2012 so these are the “award worthy songs/ musically rich and high on vocals”. Only Desi Daru and Balma can be called the “instant catchy/ timepass fun intended numbers” but I think they are good songs too and I did not want the thread to be too high brow 😉
