My take on Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

yjhd Brief about “Ye Jawani Hai Diwani” – Story about 4 friends, 4 different characters, that has romance, comedy, songs, dance, cheesy lines and second half full of cliche with “NO” story. But It’s an abstract movie served in a commercial platter about individual characters, their traits and personalities, their approach towards relationship, life & commitments.

Ranbir is a chilled guy with “so cool” attitude who believes in his dreams, to live a jolly life with no regrets, Deepika is a topper, bookworm and medical student but bored of regular sophisticated daily routines of studies, Aditya – dear friend of ranbir and always lookout for an opportunity to get laid down and Kalki – friend of Ranbir and Aditya and loves Aditya discreetly and but gets hurt from Aditya’s constant flirting’s with other girls. All four goes to manali for trekking whereby deepika “the introvert” gells with all three of them and falls in love with Rabir but b4 she could tell her feelings Aditya finds a Scholarship letter of Rabir in his bag showing upon which Ranbir admits of deciding to go to Chicago to study journalism. Now watch to know where their destiny takes each of them.

Just like “Naina” and “Kabir” had two different world views, this film can be viewed in two different ways;

View 1: You go to watch a movie just like every other movie purely for entertainment and you will realize that the film was fantastic in the first half mainly due to its pace, funny moments, jokes, cool attitude of urban youth and one of the best Holi number of recent times. However you may be confused whether to like it or not in the second half mainly due to lack of pace, low on humor, high emotional quotient and same old happy ending. It had nothing new, concept wise old and drained.

View 2: As you watch it reminds you of your own dreams, relationships, adventures, sacrifices, friendship, commitments and emotions that were similar to Kabir’s but also apprehends own self actualization. Some may laugh at my thoughts & views but that’s because somethings cannot be explained nor understood but could be only experienced. Utkal has given one brilliant take on this movie and you will understand what I meant earlier – The traits of each individual, behavior and personality development portrayed from each character are factual and unfeigned. Most conversations were deep in its thoughts but few were coarsely incorporated.

In both views one will definitely like & enjoy the three songs – “itna maza kyun aa raha hai”, “kabira’ & “Battameez dil”.

I don’t think that YJHD will cross 100 crore coz the story of the film is boring and everything about the movie is clear
and it is similar to bachna ae haseeno flick.there is no surprise that can make you go and watch the movie.

      my friend u need rest…..

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani Super Strong On
      Monday 3rd June 2013 14.30 IST
      Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has maintained superb figures
on Monday morning and afternoon and is heading for
a huge Monday total. The way the film is collecting so
far on Monday a 9 crore nett looks assured and the
collections could even go over 10 crore nett depending
on what happens in the rest of the day.
There have been only three films in the history of Hindi
cinema that have collected 10 crore or more on
Monday when it is not a national holiday and they are
Dabangg 2, Dabangg and Three idiots.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani may join this list and even if it does not make get to 10 crore nett it will be very close.

I don’t think YJHD will cross SRK’s highest grossing film even in 200 weeks. As far as I know, SRK’s highest grossing film is DDLJ, the adjusted nett gross of which is 267.77 cr.
And that adjusted nett gross is taken in 2009. In 2013, it will be definitely never less than 300 cr.
Bus kuch bhi likh dete ho.
