She destroyed many singers due to her ego…including her sisters career / and lastly Anuradha Pudwal to name a few.
Anuradha had come out openly against her in print…but nothing happened. She was a strong force back then (Lata) who supressed all these stories. I feel like slapping Yash Chopra when he says she is gift of God and like his sister etc etc ……such money minded people!!

New singers rarely got a chance during Lata, Rafi, Kishore eras but its the opposite now. There are so many new singers every day and established singers are hardly given any importance.
Well, I have been seeing and hearing these stories about Lata opposing her own sisters – Usha/ and Asha etc since more than 20 years.
Even my parents used to tell abt that when she refused to sing for music directors…threatening them that she wont sing with them if they take XYZ singer …back in 60s / 70s (Suman Kalyanpurakar etc)…sung with them!
back then, they thought it was a gossip. But now they think she is a real crook. ….seeing all these stories for years …and how the other singers like Usha/Suman or Anuradha were not in picture at all….
More or less….over the years …marathi press knows about real “insecure” Lata than anyone else in India.
@Sputnik, Like u said above – Yes there are many new singers and competition is more. But Lata used her position in industry to kill competition.
Like Anurag Kashyap says in the other video u posted….its true that Younger generation is far more professional than earlier one…even more ethical also.

I call it bullshit if it was only abt their affair – I dont see any point in that. But Bhupen’s wife claims he asked her hubby why he has to be with Lata in a bedroom ..and Bhupen answered to forward his career. Lol …what an article! there was an interview of Lata Mangeshkar in one of the hindi radio channel here in UAE where she said she and Rafi had some problems and when asked what was it about? she said, she wanted singers to get loyalty for their songs which they sing to which rafi dismissed saying “we come to studio, learn songs from music director, they teaches us, we sing that song and get paid, what else do we do apart from that that you are asking for loyalty?”. She also said after that rafi and lata didn’t spoke for nearly 3 years due to which many lost as well as gained many opportunities.
