Milind’s Reflections: Of Breasts,Sex,Carnal and Aamir!

P.S. You are reading this at your own peril. The language is highly inflammable to bearers of moral cultural torch,it is derogatory for conservationists and highly despicable about many cultural ambiguities we hold within us!

To quote Julia Roberts in the film Notting Hill; “They’re just breasts, every second person has them.”

What is so special about a gland made up of ductules and fats that is primarily meant to feed the infant? Why is to be kept veiled? This question may present me as a pervert! And this is the reason where the crux of every social evil in society begins. The carnal is what makes the evil more rampant.Carnal instinct helps in reproducing and that is what it is meant to do,But when this same instinct begins defying its purpose and starts behaving as the “deal” or the “gift” in order to get a work done,it starts signifying that the material corporate world still believes in the flesh for money stuff,a reminder of Shylock who famously remarked “a pound of flesh” in Merchant of Venice.[speaking metaphorically.] When breasts become a symbol of erotica, they still remain within the fringes of morality considering nudity is considered an erotic art.But when the same breasts become the launching pad for a big project or a big tender, the moral corruption begins there. Flesh trading begins at the smallest level and is fully manifested at the biggest level. When flesh trade happens at home,it takes the form of “rape”, “marital rape”, “child abuse”……..when happens in a community,it takes the form of prostitution…..when happens in five star hotels,it is merged with a respectable term known as “escort”. But do we ever think that if the evil that is centred around sex is so much rampant, why is it that we still try to be so orthodox about it.I bet while I am writing many such evils are taking place, either in a suburb of Mumbai or a bylane of Kanpur or the highway of Faridabad, but what is the maximum I am doing.Just blogging! That is where hypocrisy begins.

Consider this. When I start discussing Child Abuse..I have a thought that I am spreading awareness. Well and Fine! Do we discuss the first and the most pre-disposing condition of child abuse? No! Small houses, small per square area for each individual, cringing spaces are the first criteria.Do we blame the poverty that induces the proximity? No we blame the proximity! Mind is a strange weapon that can write a single incident in million ways and interpret it in another zillion ways. Whom do you want to blame? The brother forcing his penis inside his sister while having fantasized it every night while sleeping on a “chatai” with his mother and father also in slumber beside him. Or do youw ant to blame the poverty and the socio-economic background that allows for such proximity that the lines of moralities seem blurred. I have had the chance to counsel many people with similar instances during my psychiatry posting. Many are guilty, many are lost. But in all this hoopla we forget that the real issue is not child abuse but the real issue is the pattern of economic development that is happening around us. Do you seriously think that a show will change the attitude of those uncles who love to caress the vagina of 6 year old to gratify thenmselves. Do you really think that each parent will eye each uncle with suspicion if he takes their 5 year old boy/girl and cuddles him? Do you really think sitting on a sofa and crying and wailing will make India that boasts of “pop culture” to rethink their own disposition? Will a show that never ever tries to take out the most real subdued matters regarding an issue be successful in creating awareness. You need not create an awareness reagarding an uncle abusing his niece because you cannot allow definite demarcations for child abuse. Does a touch constitute it? How do you define which touch? Touch on the cheek! Touch on the chest that does not even have a breast! Touch on the hips. how is the touch–gentle or grabbing! If some people who have suddenly woken up to the issue because of certain allegiances to a star think Child Abuse is an “obvious” thing– They need a reality check! Child Abuse is mostly manifested in a manner that the child never quite understands it when its happening except if he is beyond 9-10 years.Later when he is educated enough,he recalls stuffs that happened to him and even then he draws vague ideas about it.Sometimes admitting it and beginning to hate his life and sometimes forcing himself to believe none of it was true!

A victims wail cannot bring awareness. Rape Victim if shows off her traumatised neck and chest will only evoke compassion but will not allow for a change in the evil threads of our culture.Much of child abuse is done by middle aged men. They are mostly bored of their marital life,of the sagging breasts of their 45+ wife who has borne him 4 children. They look for revisiting their youth.Since no girl is going to lend them their sanctity and maybe they cannot attempt it,they turn to the small boys, gratifying their thirst with them.I want the host to speak openly about this mid-life crisis in a man’s life~! Tab Dil par lagegi. I do not want to hear how a boy was sodomized,I want to listen the nudest truth of why it happens. I want a certain community analyst to sit down and tell me that “Look Mister,If you force 6 people of same family to sleep so close together,at least in 1% of the case some forceful incestual stuff will take place!” I want a Government official to admit it and lament the situation because I know he cannot change it in next 50 years! Stories can just evoke emotional aspects for few hours but eventually all is forgotten. You all remember the way we get worked up listening to an inspirational story but the next moment Indian Idol ads come onscreen,we are busy discussing who may win this season!

Kudos to the show for touching these stuffs but the manner is so superficial and unimaginative that it will not change an iota of stuff.Has any rule been able to stop a rape.Rules act as deterrent.Does Aamir think a deterrent will stop Child Abuse that takes place safely in drawing rooms of homes when similar deterrents could not stop rapes on the middle of the road. All this show does is to make the urban society feel guilty for a few minutes on twitter and FB and then soon become indifferent to it as soon as the trailer of ETT is launched. Trending Topics keep changing on twitter. The day some become constant, the first winds of change will be visible.Aamir should shed some inhibitions, touch the taboo-est of issues with utmost sincerity and then we can actually dissect it all.Alas, till now it all seems so hilariously superficial and badly cooked!Hoping for some honesty in further episodes. And yes, before I part, these workshops are as futile as Nirmal Baba asking people to attend his “samagam” and believe that the “evil” will perish. For that the “conscience” needs to be shaken, something that SJ boasts of but fails to!

Strong issues wasted in a talk show pattern!

  2. dwnpiyush 7 years ago

Exactly on the same page here. In fact fifty years down the line when my memory would wane and my mind would wither, I may read this and think that it was written by me. Only thing is that I did not make the effort to express all of it so lucidly and evocatively- just bits and spurts on fb and NG. Thanks.

  3. John Galt 7 years ago

    Two things.

    1) If a show can not bring change, a victim’s wail cannot bring awareness, what can you writing an article do? Why the effort?

    2) What would be your reflections if the exact same show was done by tanqeed’s fav actor Shah rukh khan.

P.S. the second question is rhetorical.

    • sputnik 7 years ago

What do you mean by “tanqeed’s fav actor Shah rukh khan”? Can you explain please?

      • John Galt 7 years ago

        Sputnik,

It means the actor currently most popular on Tanqeed (and popular in terms of positive criticism 😉 )

    • Baba Ji 7 years ago

john galt – why do u see this as an srk vs aamir thing? no one talked about srk in this thread.Milind is writing the article not to create any awareness but to just point out what he found missing in the show and there is absolutely nothing wrong in it.If you are even bare minimum well read, you would know that the show is poorly researched and many of us have already talked a lot about this in various threads.

        Baba,

I am not amazed at this old tactics of people to degrade my opinions. But now I am indifferent to this strategy that was used by some members of a dilapidated site that I was previously on! 😀

      • John Galt 7 years ago

        Baba Ji and Sputnik.

I apologize. I do however want your honest opinion on this point I raised. Its just a thing I observed. I want you to let everyone know, what you think about how this article would have looked like had this show been done by the author’s favorite star. You can say that it would have looked exactly the same or whatever difference (if any) it may have had. You can also choose not to reply.

Why am I asking this question- because it looks like the author is on a mission to run this show down. I have neither an affinity for Aamir or the recognition he may get from this show, but this article to me looks like not only pointing down whatever the author really thinks about ths show but also, to just plain run it down.

        • Baba Ji 7 years ago

John galt – bcos i like u and consider u one of the best members of tanqeed,i wil answer your hypothetical question 😀

I think we all agreed that SJ is an ideal show for a personality like aamir khan especially on-screen.He could not do a dance show,he could not do kbc,he could not do DKD.He is suited for SJ and he chose well.It is another matter that the show is poorly researched and sipping over a cup of coffee discussing sensitive issues is not what i had in mind when i had anticipated SJ.
I cannot imagine a bhaand like srk in SJ.He is simply not suited for this kind of a show. With srk in it,milinds reviews would have been different bcos the show itself would have been different.Infact it would be worse :D.

The expectation from someone like aamir khan is different. We expect quality from him.Good or as bad as may be the case, aamir was and is the best person to host it.the show unfortunately is not and doesnt do justice to him.

The author is on a mission to run the show down! You do not need me to run this show down.Because of some very pathetic research backhand, this show is already a waste!

And rather than pointing a finger at me that what would have I done if SRk would have done this– Will you believe,I would still be the same?If not,why ask this! If Yes–take that as as an answer! 😀

          • John Galt 7 years ago

            Babaji,

Thanks for your answer. I understand that you were expeccting more of a road show. I was hoping for the same too. that surely would have been way more engaging.

            Milind,

Please do not be offended. I say stuff based on my reading. My problem with this article is , I support stuff if the intention is good, which is why I support this show and I do not support Aamir’s pricetag for the show. Same reason why I support what he is doing with the show and do not support your article because I am not concerned about Aamir here, I am good if even one member of the society gets beniffited from the show.

        • sputnik 7 years ago

Apologies accepted 😉 Now that Baba and Milind have answered your questions let me answer them too.

As Baba said this is a hypothetical question and it is hypothetical on two counts – firstly that SRK would do this show and secondly Milind will write a article on it. I do not know for sure how Milind would have written this article in that case. He could be all positive because it is a SRK show as you imply or he could still be still critical of the show and hate the show as he claims.

“because it looks like the author is on a mission to run this show down”

He has written only two articles on the show’s two episodes. He has not spammed the forum with negative posts on the show. He had also posted a Aamir Khan editorial before the show started. I have not read it but since it is by Aamir himself I am assuming it is positive about the show. He commented “Nice write up but I have issues here and there. Will discuss in detail later.” which seems alright to me.

Special Feature: Aamir Khan’s Editorial in Hindustan Times!

Now lets assume that it is in fact Milind’s mission to run this show down as you claim. Even in that case whatever he has written will not become irrelevant just by virtue of his intention. His article can be refuted by pointing out facts contradicting his statements or showing the logical flaws in his article.

@dwnpiyush… Thanks for evoking similar concerns. 🙂

    @John Galt:

    1. You clearly did not read my article correctly.Seems you missed this line: “.I bet while I am writing many such evils are taking place, either in a suburb of Mumbai or a bylane of Kanpur or the highway of Faridabad, but what is the maximum I am doing.Just blogging! That is where hypocrisy begins.”

I am banking on my own hypocrisy to expose the larger one taking place simultaneously on 13 channels. Lets come straight.I am not assuming any high moral grounds here. All I have done is to present the facts that are of “real” concern and allow for a discussion lamenting at the same time that serious issues are wasted in talk show like format.

    2. SRK is not in picture here. There is no need for bringing him either. If SRK be the rhetorical here,I can also judge each view of yours vis-a-vis some director who is busy presenting a distorted picture of the cowbelt region! 🙂

    • John Galt 7 years ago

I did read your article correctly, and I still don’t get it, why the need to expose anything. Clearly your views aren’t worth a dime, since in your own language, if a show like that cannot bring a change, what the hell can a tiny article on a blog do? Why the effort, to even think and point out mistakes, when clearly this discussion is not going to impact anything at all.

P.S. If you could, you would have realized the point I am making.

      • Author
        Milind 7 years ago

If there is no need to expose anything or if everything is futile–why live? Let us all die.But till we are alive and if we all are busy in blogging, here and there on tiny blogs which not more 0.00001% of population reads, let us actually reflect on stuffs that are shoved up our ass in name of social message.

Your logic defies the essence of logic itself!

        • John Galt 7 years ago

Exactly- You may think that it doesn’t make a difference to you or not make a change in your head but what about those few parents who actually thought about being more protective towards their kids, and who even decided to do that workshop with their kids. Forget that, what about that one kid who actually saw the show and may try to talk to his/her parents, or even dial the helpline number. Don’t you think thats an achievement? Even in if 1 out millions can get a change in their lives, don’t you think it justifies it?

          • Author
            Milind 7 years ago

No it does not justify it.The basis of evil still remains.Where is the “dil par lagegi” baat here? Where is the attempt ki “surat badalni chahiye”. Infact it all seems a “hungama khada karna”. That one child who never was able to tell his/her parents or friends will call a helpline number.Highly irrational approach towards a problem even if at last 100 call. Where is the attempt to explore the basis of such evil and rectify it then and there.

Rome was not built in a day. They are trying to cover these stuffs by attempting to open a workshop and believing “All is Well”. I am all for a workshop or a furniture shop for a child but not without the best laid plans after a long mature discussion rather than a wailing sodomized guy trying to evoke just compassion, not reason.

I had forgotten to say this in my last piece. The paradox is that Aamir presents the “female foeticide” petition to Gehlot whose government tried zillion methods to save Maderna-the man who bought and sold sex. As soon as that politician came into picture, the effort of changing social mindset went into drains. The rule of USG not to be used for sex determination is for long, still many diagnostic centres do it.ny further law wont stop it till grass-root level interaction is done via social and health workers with ASHA co-operating and Sarpanch and Mukhiya allowing for spread of info. Which law do you think stopped terrorism, rape or crime? Crime is a social evil which needs deeper research and planned out approach rather than a weak hilarious talk show where “sodomy of guy” evokes laughter[ref:Baba’s comment above]. To touch the hearts you need no 13cahnnels,you actually need to go and touch the people’s hearts.

Regards that one guy who would call the help line number, better for him to confide in his parents first. If parents are not co-operative,none can help. This mindset of parents will not change by a show because which parent is ready to accuse their close relatives of caressing their daughters breasts and patting their hips and lose the relationship until its too obvious. The socio-cultural thread of India is too much in closet…Aamir is still surfing on surface. That is where I have a problem with celebrities taking up social issues.

  6. John Galt 7 years ago

Why the furor over using “tanqeed’s favorite actor”? If I ask this question , who was the favorite personality of passionforcinema.com; Almost anyone can come up with the reply in a jiffy- Anurag Kashyap.

    Sputnik,

Be reasonable and tell me, would it be actually wrong to use that statement ?

    • Author
      Milind 7 years ago

Absolutely not! PFC reference is absolutely out of context. Barring me,none here is a big SRK fan.Sputnik criticises SRK more than often.Baba is known for his mocking jokes on SRK. You have hithere who gives accurate views on aamir and other stuffs. We have you who loves Kashyap. Infact Sunil declares on this site that Salman may become the biggest ever. How is this site Pro-srk or srk is favourite here? Infact at present this site is loving Aamir more than ever. 😀

      • John Galt 7 years ago

What makes you think I love Kashyap? I don’ think I have even commented on Kashyap, even once.

    • sputnik 7 years ago

90% of the posts have been by me. And almost all of them have been articles, reviews from somewhere else. I have not stopped anyone from criticizing or mocking SRK. I have not edited someone’s negative comments about SRK or banned them or anything like that. I have not posted a positive/negative article on either Aamir/Shah Rukh/Salman on the forum so how is tanqeed’s favorite actor Shah Rukh?

Even Milind has not written many positive articles on SRK here

      https://tanqeed.com/author/milind/

Since you previously asked for comments criticizing SRk here you go.

“But, even though the film was crap IMO’

“I think SRK screwed up the movie more than anyone else by adding these cameo parts. Did you see the deleted scenes from the movie? They were some school scenes – I think those must have been directed by KJo. I am sure most of the bad parts of the movie are the result of KJo and Mushtaq Sheikh’s advice or SRK’s own doing. I pity poor Anubhav Sinha.”

Why I need more money: Shah Rukh Khan

I know there are more (there were comments about SRK having bad script sense and that he should stay out of production and that he ruined RaOne) but it is hard to search for these comments without remembering the exact words in the order that they were used.

As I said before if a lot of Aamir/Salman/Akshay/Hrithik/Amitabh fans (some exceptions are there of course) are scared to be on a forum where there is a level playing field (rules are same) for everyone then its their problem not mine.

I am done with explaining all this and this is the last time.

      ——————————————

Now coming to this article it did not even mention SRK so why bring him here?

There will be a lot of Aamir articles (positive and negative) for the next few weeks till Aamir’s show is on air. I don’t agree with your logic that since it is a TV show about real issues you should not criticize it or that you cannot criticize it because you are not doing anything about it. I don’t agree with your logic that a movie is open to criticism but a TV show is not.

Now that you have already brought SRK here – and using your yardstick all those who criticized/mocked MNIK should not have done that either as it was about a real issue and because they did not do anything to resolve/highlight the issue. There was some Mithun movie on ragging and it was supposedly based on a true incident too – so everyone should have praised it too. I did not see anyone praising it.

People should actually drop the pretense they are supporting this show because it is based on issues. Majority are supporting it because it is a Aamir Khan show and they are either Aamir fans or admire Aamir Khan Period.

For if they really were supporting the show because of issues they should have also supported shows like Zindagi Live and other shows that came on NDTV/IBN on same/similar issues before. If they did not watch those shows then that just means that they were not interested in those shows/issues in the first place and that they are watching this show only because Aamir is hosting it.

Its same even with his movies. Most of the people who went gaga over TZP did not even watch SKD by the same writer/creative director.

What happened to the dyslexia matter? What happened to the “educative reforms” that was supposedly set in motion by 3I. I appreciate Aamir for touching sensitive issues but I am highly critical of the whole approach and somewhere of the intent too!

        • hithere 7 years ago

Well you need to ask any primary school teacher. The way they teach has changed significantly. It is not Aamir’s contribution but he supported Mr Sibal when he was pushing for reforms. Personally I don’t agree with that kind of eductaion. They have same type of education in US and they are lagging in most of Science and Maths indexes. Now they want people to study Science and tech but they can’t control the kids; Kids normally choose easier options like sports, Music as they look fancy and comparatively you don’t have to devote the amout of time you devote with any Science subject.

Milind you write well but you need to see things from different perspectives. Bias is good because it gives you a position to argue but the position shouldn’t be blinded because you don’t want to hear or listen.

          • Author
            Milind 7 years ago

            Hithere,

Where am i not listening here.Bias is in terms of star–Yes I am baised towards SRK but here Aamir vs Srk is not even in the core.I am talking about child abuse in a manner since I have seen a sodomized 8 year old child with bleeding per rectum and am well versed with the issue at large. We study these stuffs in Preventive and Social Medicine postings. The poverty angle I elucidated is mainly because I know that contributes a lot to the issue.

            See the vicious cycle.

Poverty–Tensions— Alcohol— Un-inhibition of self—- blurring of moral lines— evil

Poverty— Reduced living space— development of sexual affinity– Child Abuse–Incest

And this is just the superficial aspect i am showing,.There is much to it.

Urban Homes–access to internet at raw age[17-18]– exposure to porn stuffs— peeping Tom./Peeping Dora— atempt to gratify oneself with kids at home

Mid life Crisis—- sexual disharmony— attempt at child abuse.

I want a frank and open discussion otherwise I have been a part of much workshops to know how much a failure they are.

I am not being star-centred here.If it seems so,My purpose of writing this post is defeated!

So you mean to say, since this is probably just benifitting a handful of kids, and not uprooting the problem totally, so its useless and futile. Great going. .Since I cant eradicate poverty from the face of the earth, I shouldn’t even help out the ones I can.

Like I said, I would have loved to read the paeans had the exact same show was done by your favorite actor.

If I go by the strictest of parameters, its not even helping anyone in a broad sense. Whom is it helping? I can guarentee this is a futile exercise considering that the “impact” of an “effort” is so miniscule that such a hoopla was not necessary. If only some had to benefit and that too seriosuly, this same actor who boats of a 3 crore Rs each episode of SJ could have utilised the same money to enhance the outreach facility of many NGO’s who “actually” work for this stuff rather than asking the public to vote and contribute.Leave this…if I want to eradicate poverty from earth,I will not make a talk show on how Dharavi slums are filled with latrines and mud and how they make life misearble…..I will actually go to the spot spontaneously without a script and intercat with people, make the whole India watch the plight face to face in a suited context rather than in a grand room.I would hold their hands and signify to the country that I inspite of being a superstar am not averse to the poverty stuff and I am ready to lunge in the “mud”.Will you come with me.I would have actually contributed heartily rather than superficially on a talk show. The fact is urban people like you love to draw conclusions without even knowing the grass root stuff. It is easy to hallucinate the impact reading on internet but its too difficult to gauge the supposed impact at the basest level. For that gauging you need to be actually versed with the real reasons of child abuse.Bringing a sodomized child in a TV Showdoes NOT raise awareness where it is needed.

Knowing such stuffs as child abuse closely, thanks to my work,.I know its way off mark from the actual issue.

You keep being stuck in “your favourite” star theory depicting the myopic attitude you carry towards the issue.

Un-necessary things–Like I said you may have drawn conclusions from internet reading,I know the factors as I was made to study this. There is a difference.I can differentiate stuffs better than you in this case. A help is certainly a help but is the help in the manner in which it should be. There are numerous helplines in India– ask them how much they help! Ridiculous helpine routine stuff, hilarious workshops resembling some stupid management workshop stuff which ultimately wont even affect where it would matter the most.So guess you need to stand up and be actually be able to get yourself study the topic more closely rather than study about it on internet! The serial boasts about making a deep impact– I see none, there is none! For touching the issues–I have already said kudos!

milind – very good post.the biggest problem with SJ is that it has done 0 research.that gay person was already a part of zindagi live.In First episode, aamir showed clips taken by tehelka.com.Bhai tune kya kiya 2 saal mein? 😀

Child abuse is a big issue, and it covers more than just sex abuse,it also includes forced begging and child labour.but aamir was intersted in sex only bcos well, sex sells! 😀

      Thanks Baba.

Actually Satyajit Bhatkal and team have zero knowledge about the “essence” of child abuse. They have gone very little under the water to actually search for real issues.

    @John Galt,

“I support stuff if the intention is good, which is why I support this show and I do not support Aamir’s pricetag for the show. Same reason why I support what he is doing with the show and do not support your article because I am not concerned about Aamir here, I am good if even one member of the society gets beniffited from the show.”

How do we know that Aamir is doing this show for some altruistic motive of raising these issues? He may be doing this show just for “the recognition he may get from this show” and also the money that he is making from it. One can tell when someone is being genuine or not. When the camera deliberately pans to Aamir wiping his tear off or Aamir giving “acting” expressions or Aamir deliberately hugging one of the victims then its no longer a show meant to raise issues. It is meant for TRPs, recognition and fame. Now compare that to the Zindagi Live show. The host is not doing any “acting”.

I personally do not have a problem with anyone if he makes Crores of money and does not even donate a single paise out of it. It is his hard earned money (assuming) and he can do whatever the hell he wants to with that money and he owes no answers to anyone. But if someone claims to be socially concerned about the poor or about issues then I think it is perfectly alright to raise the question as to what he is doing about those issues or how much money did he donate?

Now why do people have problem with Babas like Nirmal Baba? Why is Nirmal Baba ridiculed by people? If Nirmal Baba is charging money then the same argument can be made that nobody does anything for free. If the people who are going to him are happy with him and think that he has solved their problems then no one should have any problem with him either. But people do because they think he is exploiting the poor and the gullible and some people think this show is no different.

You are talking about what if one child benefits from this. What if a child accuses someone falsely because of this show and that person’s life/career is ruined? Now will you hold the show responsible for it then?

Read this. The first one is about a Indian and he won the case in US against false child sex abuse accusation. I am pretty sure that the stupid Indian laws will never account for the kid lying just like the stupid dowry laws (dowry is rumored to be the topic for the next episode).

Three reasons why someone would like SMJ

    1. You are an Aamir Khan fan and just need another excuse to glorify him. SMJ is in the same Aamir PR storyboard of how RDB awakened a generation, how ‘3 Idiots’ changed the education system and how TZP made Indian parents good parents … i.e how SMJ changed TV shows forever…

    2. You are the bourgeois avant-garde amongst the audience whom the show targets and manipulates. i.e Something about the advertisements for SMJ make you feel terribly guilty about watching TV just for entertainment and not enlightenment.

    3. You love facebook causes. Makes you appear socially responsible without actually risking moral, physical and monetary involvement.

The above comment is as accurate as saying, one would like a movie like DDLJ if one is a desperate girl/boy whose only chance at fantasizing about a ridiculous avatar of a dream partner is watching that ridiculous film.

    Or

One could be a fan of srk only if one is a fan boy/girl of mediocrity.

    • phoenix 7 years ago

Call me silly, but for me DDLJ romanticized the idea of romance. Before DDLJ falling in love, was that bad thing that bad girls do, going against parents. I had looked down upon friends who had boyfriends, before DDLJ. For me it was DDLJ that changed that idealogy… for others it could be something. To be honest, Darcy of Pride and Prejudice and Sydney Carton of The tale of two cities are similar to whatever you said about girls fantasizing about Raj of DDLJ. Fits fancies of teenage girls. Mediocrity doesn’t fit in the emotional narrative. Love stories don’t work that way.

If DDLJ released today, I would probably dislike it. I have grown up. I am cynical now. Now I can watch SMJ and come up with a smartass judgement that rejects the all the work that must have gone into making it. The Fangirl who liked DDLJ would have been impressed with SMJ.

” I had looked down upon friends who had boyfriends, before DDLJ”

LOL! it is amazing how important hindi (ddlj in this case) films were/are in life for you. especially when it manages to bring ‘changes’ in your societal value system.

          Baba,

I was in an impressionable age. Change was inevitable. Perhaps SMJ helps people of that age group too.

          • Alia Bhatt fan 7 years ago

yes agreed. infact the level of discussion in SMJ suited only school going kids and ill-informed teenagers who get impressed with census stats!

    Bash,

When I say I don’t like DDLJ…I’m not forcing it down your throats for even you to hate it.
    \

Neither am I saying everyone who likes DDLJ has something screwed up in their heads….A movie is a personal choice at the end of the day…I can bash Srk’s Ham in Darr and end up liking Amitabh’s ham in Agneepath and you can point that out..and I would say..even though Himmatwala is 3rd rate masala cinema..I liked its comedy..so it will boil down to my personal taste..

Having said that. who the hell are you to generalize the entire viewer base of a movie/a show or a book..

That I find Harry potter childish and nonsensical is my opinion…doesn’t make me a judge to say …this guy must eat lollipop before going to sleep since he is a reader if Harry Potter
