Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola Struggles On Day One
Friday 11th January 2013 22.30 IST
Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola struggled at the box office on day one as early collections for day one suggest a 6.50 crore nett first day. The film is the first major release of the year with a release of 1900 screens but it could not make a mark at the box office.
The collections are far better at multiplexes than single screens in all circuits. Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola will actually turn out to be the second biggest opening ever of Imran Khan behind Mere Brother Ki Dulhan but that is more due to wider release today and the 6 or 7 crore opening days today are not what they were a couple of years back.
Saturday will the key and good growth will required all over to come out with decent weekend.

The film is likely to do a 20 crore nett weekend. The Saturday figures in some circuits are as follows with Friday figures in brackets.

East Punjab – 74 (70)
CI – 27 (29)

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola Is A Huge Flop
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola has emerged a huge flop at the box office with weekend figures of 20.25-20.50 crore nett including paid previews. The growth was very limited over the weekend.
The film had a big publicity spend but it did not register and failed to give the film the visibility it needed for a decent start. The way the film has trended at premium multiplexes where it had the best chances leaves little hope of strong business over the next ten days or so and it seems that even the P&A spend may not be recovered from the domestic theatrical business.
The approx daily business is 6.20 crore net for Friday, 6.65 crore nett on Saturday and 7.25 crore nett on Sunday with around 25 lakhs coming from paid previews in some circuits on Thursday.

It may not have done that well but BOI just does not want some films to work and are so eager to pronounce the flop verdict.
Agree.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola Steady On Monday Due To Holiday
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola was steady on Monday due a holiday in many parts of the country for Makar Sankrati while others parts had holiday for Pongal. The collections should go to around the 4 crore nett region which is just 35% drop from Friday.
This is unlikely to change the scenario much for the film as the weekend saw dull collections of around 20 crore nett and Tuesday is likely to see the drop that would have come on Monday if it was not a holiday. The collections were very good in Rajasthan and Mysore as both states had full holidays.
Despite getting steady collections on Monday, it will still find it tough at the box office over the next ten days or so.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola Four Day Business
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola was steady on Monday due to a holiday but overall business is not up to the mark. The business till date is as follows.
Paid Previews-25 lakhs
Friday – 6.20 crore
Saturday – 6.65 crore
Sunday – 7.30 crore
Monday -3.50 crore
TOTAL – 23.90 crore

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola Goes Down On Tuesday
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola had a big fall on Tuesday after the the holiday Monday. The collections on Tuesday were around 2.25 crore nett which is 35% less than Monday. the film has collected around 26.25 crore nett in five days and will gross around 30 crore nett in its first week.
The lifetime business of the film may go to 35 crore nett but that is probably the best case scenario for the film. Even a 40 crore nett figure looks out of its reach.
This week’s major release Inkaar is not hot but multiplexes programmers are likely to put that film above Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola now as Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola has seen a big slide down in collections.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola Has 30 Crore First Week
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola collected around 30 crore nett in its first week. The film did not start well and collections came down heavily from Tuesday.
The film will suffer huge losses as the domestic theatre collections will hardly cover the money that was spent on the P&A for the film. Another downer is the film does not have satellite friendly content.
Looking at the dropping collections on the weekdays especially in the markets where it had better chances, the film will not reach the 40 crore nett mark despite 30 crore nett already in the bag in week one.

Inkaar And Mumbai Mirror Open To Dull Response
The poor start continued to the New Year as Inkaar and Mumbai Mirror could not find an audience which was no surprise.
Inkaar opened to around 10-15% collections while Mumbai Mirror was around 5%. Inkaar managed to get a good release at multiplexes due to the failure of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola especially in Mumbai where a few multiplexes are playing it on ten plus shows daily.
Inkaar has just a week to collect whatever it can as Race releases next week and with such a low opening not much can be expected.
Mumbai Mirror was also very poor while the third release Bandook did not register.
https://www.boxofficeindia.com/boxnewsdetail.php?page=shownews&articleid=5304&nCat=
Inkaar First Day Business
Inkaar grossed around 1.50 crore nett on day with one with collections mainly coming from the bigger circuits as the smaller circuits hardly contributed. Mumbai was around 50 lakhs, Delhi/UP was 40 lakhs and East Punjab was 18 lakhs.
The film may have better totals on Saturday and Sunday but with just 1.50 crore on day one you can’t really go anywhere unless the growth is phenomenal on Saturday and collections double up.
Mumbai Mirror was a poor fare with collections around the 25 lakhs mark and a big chunk of these collections coming from Mumbai circuit.
The other release Bandook was even lower than Mumbai Mirror.

Inkaar First Day Territorial Breakdown
Inkaar collected 1.50 crore nett approx on its first day. The first day territorial breakdown is as follows
Mumbai – 45 lakhs
Delhi/UP – 37 lakhs
East Punjab – 18 lakhs
West Bengal – 9 lakhs
Bihar – 2 lakhs
CP Berar – 5 lakhs
CI – 5 lakhs
Rajasthan – 6 lakhs
Nizam – 5 lakhs
Mysore – 9 lakhs
Others – 3 lakhs
TOTAL – 1.44 crore

Saturday Update: Inkaar and Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola
Inkaar failed to show any momentum on Saturday with collections in the same range as Friday. The approx two day collections for Inkaar are as follows.
Friday – 1.45 crore nett
Sunday – 1.60 crore nett
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola also showed nothing like the sort of growth that should come on the second Saturday. The approx two day collections for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola are as follows.
Friday – 1.25 crore nett
Sunday – 1.55 crore nett

Inkaar Movie Review by Komal Nahta & Box Office Collection
Inkaar Remains Low Over The Weekend
Inkaar started with dull collections on Friday and remained low over the weekend. The collections were better on Saturday and Sunday but by very small margins. The weekend collections are in the 4.75-5 crore nett range.
The film has another four days to do whatever business it can do before Race 2 comes and Inkaar goes out of most theatres. As the weekend was so low the collections on Monday should be okay in terms of drop from Friday but at very low levels.
The lifetime business of the film is likely to be around 8-8.50 crore nett which will mean losses all round.
Mumbai Mirror and Bandook were washouts at the box office with Mumbai Mirror being comparatively better in Maharashtra though still very dull.
