Here’s a peek into the Telugu remake, Magadheera, a film being produced by Phantom Films. Vikas Bahl, one of the four producers of the film, says they are looking for a director “who can direct an epic while giving it a modern touch”.
Magadheera will have action as well as entertainment. “Though the film is an epic based on the Mughal Empire, we are giving it a modern touch. Around 70 per cent of the film is based on modern times, while the rest is from history. We will start working on the film by 2013,” he reveals.
Bahl says Phantom Films has not yet fixed on the director. “The script is under process but what I can say for sure is that Ranveer Singh is doing the film. The actress is yet to be finalised. Allthose things will be finalised once we are done with the script.”
All praise for Ranveer Singh, who is currently shooting for Lootera, Bahl says, “Ranveer is so spontaneous and he has an energy that keeps you going. Given a chance, I will work with him in 70 films! The kind of energy he has, the kind of actor he is, it’s great to do experimenting roles with him.”
Phantom Films has two directors so why not pick either Anurag Kashyap or Vikramaditya Motwane to direct Magadheera? “Imagine Anurag directing Magadheera. It will be full of drugs! It’s not his kind of cinema, not even Vikram’s,” he adds.
