    @baba-ji

What’s the need for a post for this 29 second teaser? You could have added it as comment in that Finding Fanny review.

    • Baba 10 years ago

we can update the longer version in this thread. no one will notice the teaser in those coments in that review thread. also its important that everyone checks the teaser out more so after deepikas statement agaisnt toi 😀

  3. Baba 10 years ago

thanks for accepting sputnik. aapka dil bahut bada hai considering you are deepika fan 😉

    • sputnik 10 years ago

And I know you are doing all this because you are a Katrina Kaif fan and are jealous of Deepika’s success 🙂

      • Baba 10 years ago

yes i am jealous of finding fannys 16 cr weekend 😉

      • Baba 10 years ago

but you have to agree on deepika’s hypocrisy. you do know what she said about katrinas bikini pics last year

        • sputnik 10 years ago

Well yes its hypocritical after advising Katrina and it has to be a publicity stunt since Deepika is suddenly outraged at TOI’s cheap “News” headline when TOI has been doing that all the time.

Deepika has always dressed the way she wanted in public without caring about what other people think. So her sudden outrage is surprising. She did not hide her relationship with Ranbir either when they were going out together.

But what about Katrina’s hypocrisy? For someone who is half Caucasian with a British mother and who grew up abroad without any influence of her claimed Indian father (link) doesn’t she pretend to be a Savitri the way she tries to hide her relationships or the way she acts when her pictures in bikini are leaked?

          • Baba 10 years ago

the bikini pictures were taken stealthily when she was privately vacationing with ranbir. its her prerogative that she doesnt want to discuss her private life with others.atleast she doesnt preach other actresses how to behave in public/media. it is deepika who was preaching kat how to behave and look at her now

        • sputnik 10 years ago

Those pictures did not look like they were stealthily taken by some paparazzi.

          You yourself commented this 🙂

“i think these pics are intentionally released. very close shots with clear faces. it looks as if katrina, ranbir were posing for someone there. may be they want everyone to know they are togther.” Link

And I don’t understand what’s the big deal with the bikini pictures. She acted as if her nude pictures were hacked and leaked like the recent Celeb nude leaks in Hollywood.

Yeah there was no need for Deepika to advice Katrina about “being careful” but then she could not resist the opportunity to take a potshot at Katrina because Ranbir had dumped her for Katrina.

And now she took the opportunity to take a potshot at TOI and she got free publicity with all celebs and feminists backing her.

Has many foot-tapping songs. Will be superhit music in market. But almost everything in this has feel of “heard-before” to it. The Farah hangover of homage to almost all continues here – even to Singham (satakali) to Kamli (D3) or Mohini chorus from Tezaab; chamiya, end is in the well (3I)

At the end to me album sounds too much of techo sound and it bored me. If one listens to whole album in one sitting, one cant remember the previous song and theme of it. It is that monotonous!

      • Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

THe nonsense ki night lyrics is nice and funny but marred by regular and typical music.

Wish the same madness as lyrics was in the music too. But Vishal-Shekhar are not Amit Trivedi or VB or Ram Sampath.

    For delusional SRK fans,

“Ai” trailer has crossed 1.5 million mark in less than 15 hours. While HNY trailer (all combined Redchillies,T-series and YRF are barely at 8 million after a month!!)

Time to do some rethinking on the title of “King”.

    • Baba 10 years ago

HNY has very low buzz. leaving aside youtube, when i had gone to see mary kom , ppl didnt react at all to its trailer. but its releasing on diwali and srk wil rely on holiday and get a big weekend

    • sputnik 10 years ago

HNY has very low buzz since there is no novelty with the movie. It looks like a typical Farah Khan movie.

But I think the 1.5 million mark for Ai has to do more with the North-South fight going on in the comments section. Usually when a song/trailer gets a lot of hits there is a fight going on in the comments section.

Just manage to hear one line of each song
probably every tune feel like heard before
some are straightforward lifts .. like India Wale (Halkat Jawani) , Lovely/kamlee (Ni Main yaar manana ni chahe log boliya bole) , Sharaabi (Mix of so many punjabi hits)

Having said all this .. Kamlee/Lovely will be only chartbuster .. thanks to laxmikant Pyarelal superhit composition in Daag.

Deepika Padukone’s statement on the cleavage video controversy and “cheap headlines”.

    My Point of View…

There is only ONE sign that a woman wants to have sex and that is that she says “YES”.

The reason I write the above line is because we all know that in India we are so desperately trying to make a change in the way sections of our society think in order to move towards a happier world devoid of inequality, rape, fear and pain.

I am not naive about my own profession; it is one that requires lots of demanding things of me. A character may demand that I be clothed from head to toe or be completely naked, and it will be my choice as an actor whether or not I take either. Understand that this is a ROLE and not REAL, and it is my job to portray whatever character I choose to play convincingly.

What my concern is and I am stating it clearly so it is not misconstrued or confused with Shahrukh’s 8-pack or any other woman’s or man’s anatomy. I have spoken out against an ideology that such regressive tactics are still being employed to draw a reader’s attention at a time when we are striving for women’s equality and empowerment. In a time where women should be applauded for making headway in a male-dominated society,we blur the lines between REEL and REAL life and dilute all our efforts by making a one-year old back sliding piece of news a headline. Digging out an old article and headlining it “OMG: Deepika’s Cleavage Show!” to attract readers is using the power of influence to proliferate recessive thought.
When an actresses inner wear decides to do a “peek-a-boo”,she most definitely did not step out with the intention to do so.So instead of zooming in,circling it and pointing arrows at it,why don’t we give her some ‘respect’ and let it go instead of making it ‘headlines’!? Are we not human?Yes we marvel, envy and drool over a male actors 8pack abs in a film, but do we zoom in on the mans ‘crotch’ when he makes a public appearance and make that ‘cheap headlines’??!!

I have no issue celebrating my body and I have never shied away from anything on-screen to portray a character. In fact my next character portrayed is a bar dancer (sorry Farah for the spoiler!) who titillates men as a means to support her livelihood. My issue is you propagating the objectification of a REAL person, and not a character being played. Sure, dissect my characters if you wish-if it is of so much interest then discuss the character’s cup size and leg length if it is relevant to making the role convincing. All I am asking for is respect as a woman off-screen.

It is not about breasts, penises,or any other body part being reported. It is a matter of context and how out-of-context the reportage is just to sell a headline. And more so during a time in dire need of an attitude shift towards women.

For me this topic ends here.Everyone is entitled to an opinion.I have little interest to take this further as it might get more attention than it deserves and might be further misconstrued and twisted to sell more undeserved headlines.

Having said that, please may we show love, dignity and respect to each other.

Live well, laugh often and love much.

    • Baba 10 years ago

LOL. she wants to clarify that she is ok with articles discussing how “hot” she looks in her future films 😉

      • sputnik 10 years ago

When did she say she had a problem being called hot or sexy? She had a issue with the cheap headline of TOI and no one can deny that the TOI headline was cheap.

        • Baba 10 years ago

she had to clarify it. her PR must have told her that you announce that you are ok with the objectification of your “characters” on screen atleast.(usi se to aapki dukaan chal rahi hai aakhir) there is nothing cheap about TOI headline. they hvnt uploaded any fake pics of her and created a news story.

          • sputnik 10 years ago

‘OMG Deepika Padukone’s cleavage’ is not cheap headline? And that picture/video wasn’t some latest thing. It was some old picture/video and the camera is positioned to get a top view.

What next? Some cameraman will point at some heroine’s crotch or use a underskirt camera and then we will have headlines “OMG look at heroine’s crotch or underskirt”.

It was a cheap headline to get hits nothing more.

          • Baba 10 years ago

its nonsense. next time when deepika is wearing a miniskirt and toi reports “OMG Deepikas Thighs”, you and other feminists will have a problem with that too! how dare TOI talked about her thighs like that.

          • sputnik 10 years ago

Why should a news site talk about cleavage or thighs of some actress? Is it a soft porn site where people talk about cleavage or butt crack and other body parts of actresses?

Deepika may be right or wrong to create an issue out of it but as far as TOI is concerned they are completely wrong in creating cheap headlines like that.

          • Baba 10 years ago

i dont want to talk about this topic anymore and give importance to that desperate actress

          • sputnik 10 years ago

Yeah the actress is desperate but not TOI for using a headline of cleavage of that actress to get hits.

And the reason why she mentioned SRK’s 6 packs in that FB post is because Pooja Bedi made this post in TOI about how its ok since people talk about SRK’s 6 packs.

‘We don’t go into a frenzy when cameras capture SRK’s and Hrithik’s 6-pack abs’

So some “experts” who give their stupid expert opinions on FB should research before they give out their stupid opinions.

          • Baba 10 years ago

toi-deepika mile hue hain, i think we already agreed on this the other day. both are desperate.

          • Baba 10 years ago

as far as i am concerned, usually i dont open such links on toi or other websites.not bcos i am a feminist but bcos i dont find such pics “hot” enuff. i visit redtube or pornhub if i am in mood
why wil i visit toi for sex?its boring

      Lavdu dance.

That can only be said for such dance which does not have any trace of grace in it.

Liked the song . Deepika looks Hot. Should be a popular song .

    • sputnik 10 years ago

Agree that Deepika looks hot but did not like the song much. Choreography could also have been better than usual.

Don’t know why there is some male singer singing. I thought this is one more Honey Singh song but turns out it is Dr Zeus and the song is also composed by him.

      • cr7 10 years ago

Yup .I understand a lot of ppl won’t like this song .I kinda like these type of songs always .It reminds me of shake it saiyaan(rascal),baby doll and I liked both the songs. Not a fan of rap so didn’t like the rap part .But I’m sure its going to be a very popular song . It will have high no.of youtube views too . Some people seem to take it very seriously 😛
I have never heard of Dr.zeus before . After the release of lovely I came to know that he composed Kangna .It was a good song .

  9. cr7 10 years ago

Manwa lage and Lovely pretty much repaired the damage done by underwhelming promo and pathetic indiawale song . Hope rest of the song promos are good .

TOI finaly gives a really strong reply to deepika’s nautanki since some days

Dear Deepika, our point of view…

Over the past few days, there’s been a flood of tweets and stories in other media in support of Deepika Padukone’s response to a video and tweet posted in the online entertainment section of TOI.

As one of the largest media houses in the world with interests in print, TV, radio and online, we approach each medium differently, as do our audiences. There isn’t a one-fits-all formula for either distributing or consuming content across various media.

On Friday, Deepika wrote on FB: “A character may demand that I be clothed from head to toe or be completely naked, and it will be my choice as an actor whether or not I take either. Understand that this is a ROLE and not REAL, and it is my job to portray whatever character I choose to play convincingly.’

At the trailer launch of Chennai Express (a public event in her REAL life), Deepika Padukone was seen sporting an anarkali with a low cut neckline (image to the left). The video tweeted by @TOIEntertain had been hosted on youtube for over a year and was produced and uploaded by an independent channel called ‘Kraft Buzz’ on June 18, 2013.

Deepika kept silent over this video for one year and chose to raise a furor and suddenly felt ‘violated’ only during the release of her movie Finding Fanny.

Click on the link below to see the video:

Deepika, we accept your reel vs real argument, but what about all the times, and there have been many, when you have flaunted your body off screen — while dancing on stage, posing for magazine covers, or doing photo ops at movie promotional functions? What ‘role’ do you play there? So why the hypocrisy?

What’s equally hypocritical is that several media outlets have freely displayed Deepika’s cleavage even as they sounded all outraged on her behalf. Surely they could have reported the story without those pictures?

Yes, the headline could have been better. But the world of online is very different from that of newspapers. It is chaotic and cluttered — and sensational headlines are far from uncommon.

READ: ‘We don’t go into a frenzy when cameras capture SRK’s and Hrithik’s 6-pack abs’

We have always campaigned against the moral police. We believe there’s no shame in Deepika showing off her body, but does she now want us to first check with her as to which pictures of her — taken at public events — we can or cannot publish?

Are we going to have a parallel censor board for pictures of film stars taken off screen but in plain sight of the world, as Deepika’s was? It’s not as if the pictures were shot with hidden cameras, or that someone sneaked into her home, invaded her privacy, and took those pictures without her knowledge/permission.

Deepika, who began her career as a ‘calendar girl’ for a liquor brand, has written, ”Yes we marvel, envy and drool over a male actors 8pack abs in a film, but do we zoom in on the mans ‘crotch’ when he makes a public appearance and make that ‘cheap headlines’??!!”

Deepika, just for the record, we do not zoom into a woman’s vagina or show her nipples. As a newspaper, we take every care to ensure that we pixelate them if they show up in a picture, but your cleavage is as sexy as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘8-pack’ abs. Given the nature of the online media worldwide, there could well have been a story headlined, “OMG…Shah Rukh’s 8-pack sexy abs!!!”

You’ve also written, ”Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I have little interest to take this further as it might get more attention than it deserves and might be further misconstrued and twisted to sell more undeserved headlines.”

Despite having made your point on Twitter, you have chosen to re-tweet every message and given as many interviews as you could. This has obviously been great publicity for you, timed perfectly with the release of your new film. The video’s been on YouTube for a year, why object now?

As for our friends in the media, we wonder if they’ll henceforth stop carrying pictures of cleavages, including Deepika’s.

Here are some pictures of Deepika that she got shot voluntarily in REAL life…
(A couple of magazine photoshoots shown below)

Deepika’s launch in the Kingfisher Calendar (below)

    For a magazine photoshoot (below)

    For a photoshoot (below)

Deepika on another magazine cover (below)

Some of these pictures were taken at magazine shoots in REAL life and not in reel life. These pictures are far more revealing than the above video which she tweeted against. Her tweets, comments and TV interviews were convenient and hypocritical and perfectly timed with her movie release to help it fare better.

    • sputnik 10 years ago

BS, shameless and cheap defense from TOI. They should just shut up.

They are basically showing more pictures of Deepika’s cleavage and saying since she showed cleavage before we should be allowed to make headlines like “OMG look at Deepika’s cleavage”.

Its the equivalent of saying since some girl is showing cleavage we can tease the girl or go fondle her breasts. Its like saying since some girl is having sex with her boyfriend other guys have the right to have sex with her too and that she should not object since she had sex before.

      • Baba 10 years ago

what a nonsensical inference is this – “Its the equivalent of saying since some girl is showing cleavage we can tease the girl or go fondle her breasts” are you ok?

anyway all this is a cheap publicity stunt by both toi-deepika. dont be surprised if deepika is back to giving interviews to bombay times in coming months. but what pleased me about this whole publicity stunt is the way deepika’s desperaration to seek attention is exposed.

        • sputnik 10 years ago

That’s what they are saying. Look she showed cleavage before so we should be allowed to make headlines like “look at her cleavage”.

          • Baba 10 years ago

their point is crystal clear – ” It’s not as if the pictures were shot with hidden cameras, or that someone sneaked into her home, invaded her privacy, and took those pictures without her knowledge/permission.”

          • sputnik 10 years ago

So they will make a headline “OMG look at Deepika’s cleavage”

There is no excuse for that headline period.

          • Baba 10 years ago

there is nothing really outrageous or vulgar about that headline unless you belong to the generation of the 60s. and thats where the whole silliness starts really. creating controversy out of a nothing headline. deepika-toi should have been a litte more smarter!

          • sputnik 10 years ago

Oh yeah. How about some journalist complimenting Katrina or any other actress “Nice cleavage” at a press conference. And she will say Thank You that’s such a nice compliment.

Don’t be ridiculous. Its a cheap disgusting headline period.

          • Baba 10 years ago

that headline was of a video uploaded on the site.it was not intended as any compliment. i know and as i said toi tweeted it that way and called it a “compliment” to rake up the controversy more.it was planned.

        • sputnik 10 years ago

If this is a publicity stunt then the release of Katrina’s bikini pictures and her letter to media was a publicity stunt too.

    • sputnik 10 years ago

“Yes, the headline could have been better.”

They are accepting that the headline could be better but saying “But the world of online is very different from that of newspapers. It is chaotic and cluttered — and sensational headlines are far from uncommon.”

So basically admitting that we created a sensational cheap headline to get online hits.

“We believe there’s no shame in Deepika showing off her body, but does she now want us to first check with her as to which pictures of her — taken at public events — we can or cannot publish?”

She did not object to her picture. She objected to the headline. These retards can’t even understand that.

“Are we going to have a parallel censor board for pictures of film stars taken off screen but in plain sight of the world, as Deepika’s was? It’s not as if the pictures were shot with hidden cameras, or that someone sneaked into her home, invaded her privacy, and took those pictures without her knowledge/permission.”

Ok if that headline was not wrong ask the writer who by the way is a female to post a picture of her cleavage with that same headline.

“Deepika, who began her career as a ‘calendar girl’ for a liquor brand, has written”

These are same cheap tactics of character assassination.

“Deepika, just for the record, we do not zoom into a woman’s vagina or show her nipples. As a newspaper, we take every care to ensure that we pixelate them if they show up in a picture, but your cleavage is as sexy as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘8-pack’ abs. Given the nature of the online media worldwide, there could well have been a story headlined, “OMG
Shah Rukh’s 8-pack sexy abs!!!”

How great of TOI to not “zoom into a woman’s vagina or show her nipples.” but then contradicting themseeves saying “we pixelate them if they show up in a picture”. SRK’s 8 packs are not the equivalent of Deepika’s cleavage. The equivalent would be Deepikas 6 pack or 8 packs if she had them. How about TOI post SRK’s butt cleavage with a similar cleavage headline.

“Despite having made your point on Twitter, you have chosen to re-tweet every message and given as many interviews as you could. This has obviously been great publicity for you, timed perfectly with the release of your new film. The video’s been on YouTube for a year, why object now?”

If this was a publicity stunt that Deepika cooked up with TOI then why is TOI attacking Deepika for this publicity stunt that they cooked together.

      • Baba 10 years ago

its a combined publicity stunt so the rebuttal from toi while good is not the best.its just enuff to heat things up and go on for some more days. but srk and deepika need to realise that this silly excercise is not going to help the poor buzz of HNY. its understandable isnt it? both are doing business with each other after all. if they were clean, they would have brought up the bit deepika said about katrinas pics last year. that would have hit the nail on its head.they should have asked me to write about this incident . keema kar deta dono nautankiyon ko

  14. sputnik 10 years ago

An open letter to Times of India from the classy newspaper The Hindu and they don’t even use any pictures of Deepika here.
    Sep 22, 2014 08:42 PM , By Radhika Santhanam
    Another point of view

    Dear Times of India,

There are times when one should keep quiet. If most of the online world is lambasting you, even if you think you’re right it wouldn’t hurt to introspect a little and wonder why people are reacting the way they are. Your response to Deepika Padukone’s fuming tweet and post on Facebook against your article on her, or more specifically on her breasts, is both shocking and unexpected. You could have chosen to apologise. Or you could have chosen to keep quiet. But by doing neither and by misunderstanding the issue entirely, you’ve only dug yourself deeper into a hole.

You’ve started your article in Bombay Times (‘Dear Deepika, our point of view,’ Sept. 21) saying, “As one of the largest media houses in the world with interests in print, TV, radio and online, we approach each medium differently, as do our audiences. There isn’t a one-fits-all formula for either distributing or consuming content across various media.”

It’s true that across media houses each medium is approached differently but editorial values and ethics remain the same. There are still limits to what can be published online and what cannot. By merely brushing aside the problem by stating that “the online world
is chaotic and cluttered — and sensational headlines are far from uncommon,” you’re being unapologetic about your mistakes. ‘Yes, perhaps this may not be right but that’s how things are, so you must get used to it’ is the crux of your message. Indeed the online world is chaotic and uncluttered but that should give you and every other media house more of a reason to be careful about the content being posted. Rather you shamelessly admit that you’re choosing to objectify a woman and be sensational.

It makes it worse that you are doing this — and being unrepentant about it — at a time when one of the biggest problems that plagues this country is its treatment of women. Sexist attitudes manifest themselves in different forms — leering, passing offensive remarks, gawking are all at one end of the continuum, crimes against women like rape are on the other end. You cannot cry yourself hoarse about the extreme form while believing it perfectly alright to engage in the more subtle ones. Did I hear you say hypocrisy?

You then ask: “Was Deepika’s hypocrisy for publicity?” Below the question (which you really seem to believe is not a question but the reason why the actor chose to lash out at you), you’ve printed a collage of photographs — photographs that show the actor’s breasts, her cleavage and her legs. The point you’re apparently trying to make here is that Deepika is consciously flaunting her body for photo shoots and other assignments, so why should she take offence when you’re so generously “complimenting” her?

No, TOI, there is a difference between zooming into a woman’s cleavage and making a story out of it with a headline that says “OMG! Deepika’s Cleavage Show” and posting pictures of her that she has posed for voluntarily. The first is a blatant invasion of privacy; the second is her choice. This is the same reason why Katrina Kaif was furious earlier when pictures of her in a bikini with Ranbir Kapoor in Spain were splashed across newspapers. It wasn’t the fact that she was in a bikini that angered her; it was that the pictures were taken and posted without her knowledge and permission. Consent or the lack of it is the issue you’re missing here.

Deepika’s body is her own — she can choose to do whatever she wants with it. By focussing solely on her body parts and commenting on them, you are doing exactly what women fight against everyday — objectification. Your response to her cleavage is no different from that guy on the street who whistles at a woman when she walks by — fully clothed or not — or the man on the bus who leers at a woman when her dupatta slips. What is the difference, really? They are zooming in with their eyes; you’re zooming in with your camera.

You also justify your act saying that men are objectified too. Shah Rukh Khan’s “8 pack” abs also evoke an ‘OMG!” response so what difference is there, you ask. That is not a great defence. Are you seriously saying “We objectify Shah Rukh too
 we objectify everyone really
so what’s the fuss all about?”

Is Deepika doing this for publicity? I don’t know, but it can be safe to say that people are asking you the same question.

You don’t need a censor board TOI, but yes, perhaps a few editorial discussions before publishing such stories may not be a bad idea. It could save you all this outrage. Please understand that apart from ‘ownership’— the treatment of a person as an object owned by another — being a characteristic of objectification, ‘denial of subjectivity’ or the lack of consideration for the person’s feelings in question is another. The subject being discussed here was miffed with your post as well as initial response and made it abundantly clear that her subjectivity was denied. All you could have done was considered her response and feelings and apologised. Or really, just kept quiet.

    Yours truly,

Some peeved woman on a Sunday morning.

Deepika Padukone Interview with Rajeev Masand

In this interview with Rajeev Masand, Bollywood’s current Number One-heroine Deepika Padukone talks about the great year that 2014 has been for female actresses, and explains why heroines deserve to be paid better. The actress also reveals what she’s learnt from the recently ‘cleavage controversy’ that she found herself in, and discusses how she turned Meenamma from Chennai Express and Mohini from Happy New Year into memorable characters on the screen.

“Mohini from Happy New Year into memorable characters on the screen” LOL!!!!

and bigger LOL on “Bollywood’s current Number One-heroine Deepika Padukone”

her PR has been adding these adjectives to her since last 2 years quite desperately. they have convenitently forgotten she gave finding fanny also this year! 😛

      • cr7 9 years ago

Mohini as memorable character . ROFL .

But agree that she is currently the no. 1 and by a huge margin too .

        • Baba 9 years ago

yes and finding fanny was the biggest proof of her numero uno status :3

          • cr7 9 years ago

Have u seen Finding fanny ? There was no way that movie could work in BO .

          • Baba 9 years ago

an actress who cant carry a slightly offbeat film can be called number 1? how did new york gross 50 cr in 2009 with katrina and a total non-starcast and flop director with a truely offbeat film and a sad ending? 50 cr of 2009 is more than 150 cr of today.

the thing is deepika is not capable of bringing audience on her own. she has to depend on bigger stars/director/franchise. she can be eaisly replaced in all “her” hits and the BO would still be the same. CE wudnt have grossed less if it didnt have deepika. it had rohit shetty. but then her PR has been desperately marketing her as the no 1 actress and so on since 2 years and gullible ppl are falling for it. and based on this fabrication she is demanding higher fees! its funny

          • cr7 9 years ago

You are comparing new york with finding fanny? You’re a fanatic babaji . I loved Newyork .But It was anything but offbeat . Its a totally unfair comparison .

“CE wudnt have grossed less if it didnt have deepika” Same with Dhoom 3 .

I think Raamleela was a proof of Deepika’s Bo pull . It was Deepika who carried the movie . And I guess It crossed 100 cr .

          • Baba 9 years ago

i am not comparing . i am categroiclaly stating that New york is a far more riskier movie than finding fanny in all ways. finding fanny didnt even open well inspite of homi and deepika coming together after the succcess of cocktail.that says it all.

ramleela did 100 cr. so can we call deepika the number 1 based on that? alia bhatt gave 100cr+ grosser in 2 states in this year. and then followed it up with another hit in humpty sharma. she also had highway this year which was acclaimed and also not a washout at the BO like finding fanny.

Finding Fanny is a hit according to the producers Fox Star studios and all other box office sites which you believe for Bang Bang 🙂

The washout Finding Fanny’s lifetime (35.91) is more than Highway’s lifetime (30.61) by almost 5 Cr 😉

            https://www.bollywoodhungama.com/box-office/top-grossers

Deepika’s recent hits like Cocktail, CE, YJHD and Ram Leela did not have her as a showpiece. She did have a acting part in them and in Cocktail and CE she was excellent. Yes in Race 2 she can be replaced by Katrina 😉

If CE’s box office was due to Rohit Shetty alone then how come Rohit Shetty’s movies always did only around the 100 Cr mark except for the recent Singham Returns which did 140 Cr? SRK’s movies were struggling around 100 Cr too. So a lot of credit goes to Deepika for CE’s box office.

With the same SRK, Katrina managed to give only a 120 Cr movie in JTHJ. In Dhoom 3 Katrina can be replaced by any actress as she hardly had much of a role.

Since you are bringing up New York from 2009 to show Katrina’s box office pull that very same year Deepika’s Love Aaj Kal with Saif did a few more Crs than Katrina’s APKGK starring Ranbir.

“an actress who cant carry a slightly offbeat film can be called number 1?”

No actor or actress can a carry truly offbeat film. Even Aamir who has a perception of being able to carry offbeat films could not carry a Dhobi Ghat.

bollywood hungama has not called finding fanny a hit/success in that link. neither has komal or boi. i have never said i believe one’s numbers and not of others. i have said i use numbers from all sources to arrive at a range. it is you srk fans who vouched for foxstar during MNIK and not when it comes to a non-khan 😉

deepika was ofc a slutty savitri showpiece in YJHD, cocktail and Ramleela also. her role was bigger but she was doing her usual BKB/LAK act.

rohit shetty gave a 140 cr grosser with ajay devgan whose last film was action jackson 🙂 JTHJ made 100-120 cr which was directed by yahs chopra, not rohit shetty.

LAK grossed 60 cr which was usual rom com. NY was a serious issue based film with a nonstarcast and tragic ending where everyone dies in tht end.

“bollywood hungama has not called finding fanny a hit/success in that link.”

You said Finding Fanny was a washout and Highway was not. When I show the higher collections of Finding Fanny you change the goal post saying it does not say its a hit.

Here is your koimoi saying Finding Fanny is a hit.

            https://www.koimoi.com/box-office-filmometer/deepika-padukone/

I don’t vouch or care for any box office site or its collections. Box office collections and their stupid hit/flop verdicts are a joke for almost all Bollywood movies.

Deepika may have been slutty savitri in parts of those movies but she still had big acting part at least in later half of the movie. She was brilliant in the second half of Cocktail.

“LAK grossed 60 cr which was usual rom com.”

APKGK was also usual rom com and it did less than LAK.

You decrease collections for Deepika movies by a few crs and add a few crs to Katrina movies 😉

NY did 46 Crs and it was not an off beat movie. It was part romantic triangle and part thriller with 9/11 backdrop. Since it was the first Bollywood movie with 9/11 and torture scenes as the backdrop it may have worked because of the novelty.

Tragic ending causing less collections at Box office is nonsense. There have been so many hits with hero and heroine dying at the end. Even Ram Leela which did 100 Cr had a tragic ending.

@sputnik you dont know basics of BO.this is like saying kites did 50 cr and DG did 15 cr so kites is not a washout. finding fanny is a washout due to budget. ofc i know how much highway did and it got a respectable verdict bcos of its lower budget. i dont care about koimoi or any sites verdict. i form am own verdicts based on the cost and BO figures i read. i know how to calculate ROI and i only follow ROI system for verdict.

whether deepika was brilliant or slutty savitri in those movies is yours and mine personal view. so leave it.

apkgk , simlar genre to LAK, did in the same range as LAK. so how to differentiate between kat and deepika? for that new york is there 🙂

if NY is not an offbeat movie then why for 5 years are srk fans defending the poor domestic BO of MNIK giving that excuse , which btw had all sorts of cheesy gimmicks and stupid songs and scenes to bring crowds?
