Life is all about your wife, says Vivek Oberoi

Vivek Oberoi talks about his friendship with Sanjay Dutt, his equation with Ram Gopal Varma and making babies in the future.

You are doing back-to-back films with Sanjay Dutt…

(Smiles) He is to be blamed for it. Whenever we have met, he has showered me with love and only love. Whenever he gets a film that has more than one hero, he calls me up and says you are my kid brother and I want you to work in this film. I also had to say no to a few of films with him, as I had other commitments, but we are planning a film together next year. He decided to make Priyanka his little sister and gives me advice that life is all about your wife, your family, kids, etc. It is nice to have a pillar like him.

Your mentor Ram Gopal Varma has tweeted against Zilla Ghaziabad and Sher (Sanjay Dutt and his manager Dharam Uberoi are giving creative inputs for the films). What do you think?

I really don’t know what has transpired between all the parties, so I have no take on this topic.

But do you intend to work with Ramu?

I love to work with him. At times when I can’t give him dates, he gets very upset with me.

There was a story about you not working with Parineeti Chopra’s Meera as she is close to Salman Khan…

I don’t know anything about this… I don’t even know who Meera Chopra is, so why would I raise an objection? I don’t take casting decisions.

Everone’s having mixed feelings about Aamir Khan’s new show. What do you feel?

Screen idols like Aamir Khan have what I aspire to be as an agent of social change. People want to emulate what their heroes do, and for me Aamir Khan is doing a great thing with his show.

A lot of things have changed for you post your marriage…

Yes they have, though I’m not that superstitious unless it is cricket. Priyanka has brought in love, luck and a lot of happiness. Unlike before, now I want to be home after work and spend as much time as possible with her and my family.

There seems to be a baby boom in Bollywood. Abhishek and Aishwarya have become parents… What about you?

Priyanka and I have been married for only a year and half. I’m quite a family man. I want to have lots of babies but all in good time.

Did you wish Abhi-Ash on becoming parents?

No I didn’t! I’m not in touch with them and we are not exactly friends who hang out together.
