Kolkata Knight Riders wins IPL

Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla’s Team Kolkata Knight Riders wins the IPL final.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat. They posted a strong 190/3 thanks to Suresh Raina’s 73 out of 38 balls and Mike Hussey’s 54 and Murali Vijay’s 42.

KKR started badly losing Gambhir for just 2 runs. Bisla played a blinder scoring 89 out of 48 balls and Kallis’s 69 out of 49 balls. They almost lost the match after losing Bisla. They made a silly decision of sending Laxmi Ratan Shukla which failed. Yusuf Pathan failed too. Manoj Tiwari hit the winning four.

As per srk fans,If csk had won the final,IPL would be fixed. Now that KKR has won it,its not fixed as per them which proves that CSK came in final on merit.I will take that. 😀

if its fixed,i m happier,KKR won a fixed season so it doesnt matter who won.the trophy is unworthy of any merit.

Its always the same. When India wins nobody talks about match fixing but when India loses it is match fixing. Now who knows which match is fixed or not. I think people should either give the benefit of doubt or just dont watch/follow IPL if they already know it is fixed.

Now I saw some comments saying that KKR will bat second and win and it will go down to the the last ball. But it did not go the last ball which everyone seems to be missing. This may not be a big deal to the ordinary person but for people who bet money this is a big deal. Twenty20 matches and IPL matches mostly go down to the last over anyways and that is what is good about Twenty20. Chennai won the toss and batted first and this is what any smart captain will do in a final.

    On Chennai Super Kings

“However, according to a report in the Times of India, punters alleged that bookies had stopped taking bets on a Chennai win despite MS Dhoni’s men having their backs against the wall after the first 10 overs.

Sources in the security establishment told the newspaper that with a turnover of a staggering US$ 11 billion, each of the 60 matches saw Rs 850 crores being put on bet. Some betting syndicates and their ‘sponsors in the underworld’ made millions of US dollars.

A top punter told the newspaper: “Several thousand crores were betting on a victory by Mumbai Indians with the odds heavily favouring a win by the local team at the start of the game.

“Everybody took it for granted that Mumbai would win. But when the Chennai team started making a bold comeback, the bookies were ordered by their bosses to stop accepting bets favouring a Chennai win.

“Since the bookies have solid support from the underworld, nobody dared protest against their unprofessional conduct. This enabled the bookies to make a huge killing.”

With reports of the notorious Pakistan-based Dawood Ibrahim gang involved in the racket, police sources told the newspaper that “betting took place on each of the 60 matches and almost on a ball-to-ball basis”.”

“Though the owner of India cements (also the holder of CSK franchise), Narayanaswami Srinivasan, has always maintained that it is India Cements that holds the ownership rights to the franchise and not him – and that he is just a stakeholder. Narayanaswami Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath – from the AVM family of film producers – is the franchise owner of the CSK.

The nomination of Narayanaswami Srinivasan as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), came under scanner. After a petition was filed by the former BCCI president AC Muthiah for restraining Srinivasan from holding any BCCI post while owning IPL Chennai Super Kings team on the ground that it would lead to a conflict of interest.

The BCCI had amended clause 6.2.4 of the regulations for players, team officials, umpires and administrators in September 2008, shortly after the first season of the IPL. Before the amendment the clause read: “No administrator shall have, directly or indirectly, any commercial interest in the matches and events conducted by the board.” After the change, it read: “No administrator shall have directly or indirectly any commercial interest in any of the events of the BCCI, excluding IPL, Champions League and Twenty20.”

Muthiah’s argument was that the exclusion of IPL and Twenty20 events was made specifically to benefit Srinivasan. In September 2010, Justice Mishra had suggested Srinivasan resign from his position in the board.

Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram stadium is holding two important matches in the play-off series, despite the fact that Chennai ground is not running to pack capacity. There were talks of shifting the venue of the final to other popular grounds; however, the idea was shelved.

The venue of the final has raised several eyebrows when several other popular grounds were available.”

“According to CNN-IBN, Chennai Super Kings’ owner and BCCI secretary N Srinivasan and suspended IPL chairman Lalit Modi could have been involved in ensuring specific players for the Chennai franchise.

The Chennai franchise, owned by Indian Cements, has denied any wrongdoing and said all these reports were “deliberate attempt to tarnish Chennai Super Kings and Indian Cements image”.
The report, which quoted emails exchanged between Modi and Srinivasan, also raised questions over the authenticity of the auction that took place in 2009 as it was learnt that Srinivasan tried to fix the bid of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff in his favour.
The channel quoted an email purportedly written by Modi to Srinivasan, which read “what a nightmare to convince them not to terminate (Sohail) Tanvir and also not to take Flintoff. Warne went off the handle. But have managed it by using stick and carrot strategy. Thus they have USD 1.875mn. Much loved Lalit”.

CNN-IBN said two days later Flintoff was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping USD 1.55mn, making him IPL’s most expensive player.”In the bidding process, we had full amount of USD 2mn available for us. It was Rajasthan Royals who were aggressively bidding for Andrew Flintoff for USD 1.5mn. We finally acquired Flintoff for USD 1.5mn,” an Indian Cements spokesman said.”When we won Flintoff in the bid where is the question of malpractice?” the spokesman questioned.”

Kind of off topic but this is funny. The A.P. High Court has lifted the ban on Azhar. Jaywant Lele now says after all these years that the CBI said there was no evidence against Azhar.
