Kick Movie Review by Ashish

Well honestly I wouldn’t pay to watch a typical Salman Khan movie but this time I went to the theater only because the action sequences used in the trailer appealed to me and also Jacqueline Fernandez had a major hand in that.So I bought a Rs.300 ticket.
Kick like every other Salman Khan movie is a remake of the south movie by the same name.Since the movie had to be in Hindi so they might have made the screenplay more stupid to adjust to the minds of a mediocre Indian. Since we don’t want to see a good movie(according to them).

In the movie Jacqueline Fernandez plays Shaina Mehra who is a Psychiatrist in Poland who is in love with an adrenaline junkie Devi Lal Singh played by the legendary Salman Khan. The most mysterious thing I couldn’t figure out was that Salman also goes by the name of Devil a super-thief who can steal things from anywhere and that too before informing the police.Randeep Hooda plays Himanshu who is a Delhi Police Officer and “uski vardi mein ek bhi daag nahi hai” kyuni uski mummy surf excel se kapde dhoti hai and Randeep Hooda is after Devil who is his only unsolved case.

The first half of the movie deals with a tube(metro) conversation scene that was so fudging long that i literally wanted to cry.I think that whole tube ride was even longer then the all Delhi metro stations combined in a single route .The tube ride almost takes up the first half .Other then the tube it deals with the love story of Salman and Jacqueline or should I say the love story of Salman and his Kick.Seriously man at first I too liked the word KICK but when everyone in the film is reciting this word at the speed of 7 times/min. then it gets fucking annoying. But at the end of the movie i wanted to Kick the director and the screenwriters(how many?4) for making such a kicking-ass movie .The only good thing in the first half was the animated sequence of Salman’s birth and explaining his unique qualities and also in the first half is Sanjay Mishra of Ankhon Dekhi fame but his role in the movie is almost zero. The item song with Nargis Fakhri was a fail for me .She can’t even lip-sync properly forget dancing .

There are also some action scenes with bicycle in the first half but they are so uncoordinated and pathetic that it will make u cry and the direction in the action scenes is very poor. Every time the action scene came it seemed that the camera was blocking my view .

In the second half Jacqueline takes Salman to her house thinking he his has lost his memory but he is faking (cool story brohhh). Then somes the entry of Shiv Gajra played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I think that was the coolest villain entry that i have seen in Bollywood. His opening sher and the dialogues were awesome and his inevitable laugh, Oh man!!! I myself tried that laugh but didn’t succeed. Salman is in Poland to steal from Shiv Gajra. Then the robbery takes place and there is an action scene with the bus and chopper and bus falling down from the bridge that was a good scene as compared to the previous ones. However what I don’t understand is 4 writers wrote the screenplay but still nobody has written how the robbery was possible. This happens in every Bollywood heist movie they just show the random shots of planning and computer screens and gadgets with some techno sound and no planning is told. Why?? because heist movies are difficult to write because to write them one will have to study chemistry, physics and that writers cannot do. What is more interesting is Chetan Bhagat is also one of the writers and he is proud of this movie and he has also written so on social sites. But let me tell you Mr.Chetan u should better stick to your love novels as this ain’t your area (I know he was the screenwriter but being part of such a stupid screenplay one should rather reject it. At least I would have done so).

Later on it is revealed that Devil is not a thief but a life saver just like Robin Hood who steals from the rich for the medical treatment of poor kids. The ending fight sequence between Salman and Nawazuddin is good only because of Nawazuddin’s acting. The film ends with the dialogue “Mere baare mein itna mat sochna. Dil mein aata hoon, samajh mein nahin” which stand true for Salman Khan movies and his fans too as I don’t understand why they like him.

Also in the movie are Archana Puran Singh and Mithun Chakraborty who play Salman’s mom and dad respectively yes respectively don’t get confused here. Both have done a tremendous job in bringing a handful of rotten tomatoes and eggs towards them for their pathetic overacting.

However the good things in the movie are an animated sequence, Nawazuddin Siddiqui as villain and also Saurabh Shukla as Jacqueline’s father has done a good job and brings some genuine laughter to the audience’s faces. Some of the action sequences are nice but the direction is every poor. Jacqueline Fernandez also needs to improve a lot but it is good that she has done her own dubbing. Also in the movie is Riya Vij who played Gippi in the movie “Gippi”. I was thinking she will never get any roles but thankfully now she is starting to get supporting roles.

Well i will give the film 2 and1/2 star. 1 star for acting and 1 for all the VFX and action and a 1/2 extra because of Nawazuddin Siddiqui (because giving 3 stars will make it a good film).

If u are going to see the film looking at the trailer thinking it would be some action packed movie then i would advice you to not go. The trailer portrayed the movie as an action blockbuster but in reality there are very few uncoordinated action scenes in it. However, a diehard Salman Khan fan would love this movie as it has everything that they crave for action, romance and Salman’s weird dance and even weird sense of humor.

good review ashish. i dotn know how you expected this to be a good action movie from the trailer. it looked more like a parody of d3 and k3 (if thats possible!). just watched the above video. one of the critic says they have an animated salman doing stunts. i cant belive it.and salman fans call him the greatest action hero! This is worse than superimposing the face of salman on the stuntman as they did in ett

Watched “Kick” – Pure entertainment, fantastic movie & fantastic Salman Khan. After a long time i loved his movie. He was just awesome. Jackeline & salman lit the screen on fire, beautiful chemistry and photography.

On the contrary to many, liked the first half more, mithun was good but its Nawazuddin who stole the show. He was brilliant & his character was epic. I just wished he had a meatier role compared to small role.

Yes there are few loop holes, stupid action but tht don’t even affect the movie, it is pure entertainment.
