I am a big fan of Emraan Hashmi: Karan Johar

Emraan Hashmi While there is a talk of actor Emraan Hashmi featuring in director-producer Karan Johar’s next production, the latter has neither admitted nor denied signing him for the venture.

There was a time when Emraan Hashmi used to be mostly seen in films produced under Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Vishesh Films’ banner. However, with films like ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji’ and ‘The Dirty Picture’, it seems Emraan has surely moved on. In fact, he would reportedly feature in Karan Johar’s next home production to be directed by Rensil D’Silva.

“When we make a formal announcement, then you would come to know everything…what is the title of the film and about the cast,” Johar told reporters here last night, at the album launch of ‘Rang – Colors of Sufism’.

“I am a big fan of Emraan Hashmi. He has done really well for himself and has done good work. And talking about Sufism, one of my favourite songs is ‘ishq sufiyana’ from Emraan’s film,” Johar said.

Times Music has released an album, ‘Rang – Colors of Sufism’, comprising renditions and interpretations by renowned sarod artistes Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan, sons of sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, of timeless Qawwalis.

“I liked the album the way they have played the sarod, composed the music and presented the song. They are youth icons in this musical industry. Every year, there is more and more demand for Sufi music, but through Amaan and Ayaan, if the music reaches the people the impact is much larger and greater,” Johar said.

“Me and my brother have always tried combing different Indian art forms that can come together to create something extraordinary. We are happy the way the album has come out. Hope everyone likes it,” Amaan said.

The album is a confluence of six tracks like ‘Mann Kunto Maula’, ‘Aaj Rang Hai’, ‘Bahaut Din Beete’, ‘Main Nizaam’, ‘Zihale Miskin’ and ‘Kaahe Ko Byaahe Bides’.

“It is a very special album for us. I hope everyone enjoys our most recent work,” Ayaan said.
