Himmatwala Boxoffice Collections Thread

Himmatwala Opens Well

Himmatwala opened well in the range of 50-55% on average with collections being best in UP, Bihar and Rajasthan while West bengal and Mysore were low. The collections in metros like Delhi and Kolkata were below the mark. Mumbai city was also low but that is the case with most films as films are released on too many screens but Maharashtra was much better.

The film has a very wide release especially in terms of single screens which should help the film to collect. If the multiplexes in big cities improve over the day the film will put up a good first day number.

The way the film has started it is certain that business in single screens will be much better than multiplexes with the growth on Saturday at multiplexes being a must for long term multiplex business.

Himmatwala Good At Single Screens Average At Multiplexes

Himmatwala has opened well at single screens with UP, Bihar and Rajasthan being very good but not so good at multiplexes especially the ones in metros. If the film can pick up at multiplexes it is sure to emerge the biggest opening of Ajay Devgn. Even without an upturn at multiplexes it may still emerge the biggest Ajay Devgn opener on strength of single screens. The approx top Ajay Devgn openings are as follows.

    1. Bol Bachachan – 11.25 crore nett

    2. Raajneeti – 10.25 crore nett

    3. Son Of Sardaar – 9.25 crore nett

    4. Singham – 8.75 crore nett

    5. Golmaal 3 – 8.25 crore nett

    Himmatwala First Day Business

Himmatwala did well at single screens and collected around 10.50-11 crore nett as per early estimates. The multiplex business was low and Delhi city and East Punjab multiplexes had dull collections while multiplexes in other areas were average.

The film has done very good business in UP as Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Allahabad etc all put up strong numbers. The divide in the Delhi/UP circuit is so huge as it so rare for a film to be at such low levels in Delhi city but such high levels in UP. Even Singham which did not do well in Delhi city did not have such a gap.

Although these mass type of films tend not to show growth on Saturday there is a chance for Himmatwala as multiplexes especially in Delhi/Punjab are at low levels.

The business on Saturday at multiplexes will be key and growth at multiplexes is a must if the film is to have any chance at multiplexes over the long run.

Himmatwala Falls All Over On Day Two

    Saturday 30th March 2013 23.30 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Himmatwala has shown big falls on day two and it could be a fall in the 25% range when final collections come in. The best performing areas like UP and Rajasthan have fallen 30% and 20% respectively.

The first day in Delhi/UP was around 2.20 crore and day two is looking to come in at 1.5-1.6 crore while Rajasthan collected 76 lakhs on day one and day two is 60 lakhs approx.

The film started well enough especially at single screens but could not consolidate after the morning and showed big drops on day two. With the two day business being 19-20 crore the film has an impossible task at the box office.

    Himmatwala Has Low Weekend

    Saturday 30th March 2013 23.30 IST
    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Himmatwala collected 26.50 crore nett over its first weekend as collections came down heavily on Saturday and showed limited improvement on Sunday. The film has fared better at B and C centres but collections at multiplexes in major centres are dull.

Sometimes a major film does have a better all India distributor share from single screens over the first weekend but it is rare for the nett collections from single screens to be more than multiplexes but that is the case with Himmatwala as the multiplex contribution is so low.

The film has fared best in UP, Bihar and Central India markets. Gujarat held up best over the weekend but the start was not that good in Gujarat. Mumbai city, Delhi city, East Punjab, Kolkata and Bangalore were all very poor.

yup even 50 cr lifetime looks difficult now. unbelievable flop this film has been .i dont think even the worst of sajid cynics would have imagined this. this is shocking

  26. Alia Bhatt fan 11 years ago

this also proves that dissing each and every critic is the mentality of a loser. not every critic is baised or agendiac. sajid believes his films get panned by all critics bcos they dont like him. usme itni maturity nahi hai accept karne ki ke meri film mein dum nahi isliye itne saalon se critics constantly gaali de rahe hain. he thinks critics are not a part of the audience. he should have listened to the constructive critisicm and improved his forthcoming projects but i guess he was too arrogant and egoistic for it. HW i am sure will make him either a bit humble or a bigger loser in future.

    • Nilda 11 years ago

Chances are that he will become a bigger looser in future. People like him are incorrigible, he will come up with another stupid theory of how HW was sabotaged by media and that actually it well. Ad it’s not just him Ajay Devgan is another big hypocrite.

Himmatwala collected around 4 crore nett on Monday taking its four day total to 31.50 crore nett. The film fell heavily at multiplexes all over while single screens showed the normal Monday drops. The first week is likely to end in the 40 crore nett range.

    Himmatwala Has Poor First Week

    Friday 4th April 2013 11.00 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Himmatwala had a low first week grossing around 38 crore nett. The film dropped rapidly at multiplexes over the weekdays while single screens were fair till Monday but also showed bigger falls from Tuesday onwards.

The film has done very dull business in Delhi, East Punjab, West Bengal and Mysore. The other circuits are better but no where near what they should be with UP, Bihar, CPCI and Rajasthan doing better as they have a larger ratio coming from single screens.

The business from week two onwards will be mainly single screens as there is a huge reduction of shows at multiplexes which will mean very low week two.

Chasme Bhaddoor Has Fair Opening At Places

Chasme Bhaddoor had a fair opening of at places while other places were not so great. The film opened to around 30-35% collections at some multiplexes in North India while cities in Maharashtra saw an opening as low as 10-15%.

Overall its a reasonable opening as the film has got an audience in the morning at some places despite no face value. The film can come out with a decent first day if it can have that normal improvement in the evening. Delhi/UP and East Punjab should out perform as they film has managed a decent opening in these circuits.

The other release Rise Of The Zombie had very low collections and has practically no chance at the box office.

    Saturday 6th April 2013 10.00 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Chasme Bhaddoor collected a decent 4.75 crore nett on its first day as the film put up good to decent figures in Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Gujarat, CI and Rajasthan. The collections were on the lower side in Eastern and Southern markets.

The film did much better at multiplexes than single screens as there was no face value for the single screen audience. The business in Delhi NCR and East Punjab was best with Delhi/UP going over 1 crore nett and East Punjab getting close to 50 lakhs.

The film should manage a healthy weekend as Saturday should show growth especially in multiplex dominated circuits.

    Surprising.
Doing 40-45+ from 16/17 wud be the ‘Perfect’ Small Movie Success in CB’s Case.
    I really did Not Anticipate

    But something’s Not able to

Looking at NS, I wud be
    Surprised if it crossed CB.

    • Serenzy 11 years ago

Let’s see who wins btwn CB,
      NS and Commando.
I thot CB shud do around
33-35cr and NS can be 27-30cr.

      .

      I believe many of such
      colourful multi-starcast
movies with Good Songs and Tp Rom- Com innit create more buzz and earn more than “Solo Starrers”.

      Like John Abraham, Arjun
Rampal, Viviek Oberoi, Abhay Deol, Randeep Hooda, Arshad Warsi, NNM have Not seen many 40-50cr earners in their careers irrespective of the content.

So, it makes sense to Multi-
      Starcast them in Movies.

      .

      And as for David Dhawan..
Huge huge Fan of his Movies
      from the 90′s.
Can count around 6-8 Movies(of cuz with Govinda) that can be rewatched again and again and enjoyed a lot times better wrt today’s comedies.

      No Bazmee/Sajid/ Shetty can
      touch that level tbqh.

      These Rascals,Shaadi No.1,DKD,
      Partner, MPKK are all Bekaar
      Movies which do Not justify
      Dhawan’s Natural Flair for
      Comedy in the 90′s.

      Don’t know how good/bad
CB is but know that it won’t
      be any knockout either.

    Chasme Bhaddoor Has Good Weekend

    Friday 8th April 2013 10.30 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Chasme Bhaddoor had a decent start on Friday but with strong growth on Saturday and Sunday has come out with a good weekend of around 18.25 crore nett. Some circuits did not not start that well but by Sunday the film was doing good business practically all over.

The business on Sunday which is around 7.50 crore nett is a very good number for a film of its cost and limited face value.

Delhi/UP and East Punjab are the best with circuits with a close to 4 crore nett and 1.75 crore nett plus weekend respectively. They are followed by CP Berar, CI, Rajasthan and Gujarat all of which were very good on Sunday.

The weekend business of the film is only behind Race 2, Himmatwala, Special 26, and Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola but these were 40 crore plus films while Chasme Bhaddoor is a medium to low budget film with a total investment including print and advertising of around 20 crore.

Commando Scoring Over Nauntaki Saala Due To Single Screens

    Friday 12th April 2013 14.00 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Commando had a decent opening at single screens at around 40-50% which is pretty good compared to low 15% opening at multiplexes. UP, Rajasthan and CI all had decent figures.

The film is scoring over Nautanki Saala due to the business in single screens though Nautanki Saala being a multiplex film may get a bit better in the evening.

Commando has chances to cross the 3 crore nett mark on day one due to single screens while Nautanki Saala depends on the evening crowds otherwise it will be 30-35% lower than Commando going by afternoon trends. Eventually both the film’s fate depends on Saturday and Sunday growth as apart from Commando at single screens in ceratin circuits the initials are dull.

Commando Decent at Single Screens Nautanki Saala Better In Evening At Multiplexes

    Saturday 14th April 2013 09.00 IST
    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Commando had decent collection in single screens in circuits like UP, CPCI, Rajasthan, Nizam and parts of Mumbai and East. The film recorded dull collections at multiplexes. The film will do better in mass circuits due to the action.

Nautanki Saala started slowly but was better in the evening as is the case with most multiplex films aimed at cities. Due to the pick up the film managed decent collections in multiplex dominated circuits while other circuits were dull. Again the film is depending on weekend growth to have any chance of scoring at the box office.

Chasme Bhaddoor had a good first week of 29 crore nett and showed very good weekdays trending and also managed solid day eight figures. The film will cross 40 crore nett and is the biggest hit of 2013 till date. HIT

Himmatwala had a big drop of 85% in week two as it collected 5 crore nett taking its two week total to 43 crore nett.

Commando And Nautanki Saala Weekend Business

    Sunday 15th April 2013 10.30 IST

    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Commando and Nautanki Saala both grossed similar weekend figures in the 11.25 crore nett range. Commando was better on day one, Nautanki Saala was better on day two and the third day was in the same range for both films.

The weekend figures are average for both films as multiplexes did not pick up much for Commando while Nautanki Saala had growth on Saturday but on Sunday the film dropped at some key multiplex centres limiting its growth on Sunday.

The films are unlikely to emerge hits so its basically a battle to see which film comes out on top and unless Nautanki Saala sustains at a 10-20% better rate it will be Commando on top as it is generating better shares than Nautanki Saala from its business due to the single screen factor.

Commando And Nautanki Saala Monday Business

    Tuesday 16th April 2013 10.30 IST
    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Commando and Nautanki Saala both dropped in 40% on Monday compared to Friday but Commando came out with a decent 2 crore nett total while Nautanki Saala was on the lower side at 1.75 crore nett especially considering it showed better growth on the weekend.

Commando is doing decent business in Gujarat, Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, CPCI, Rajasthan and Nizam. The film has fared well in these circuits as they have a healthy single screen contribution.

Nautanki Saala is better in areas with high concentration of premium multiplexes like Mumbai city, Delhi NCR, East Punjab and Mysore but as has been seen in the past there is a limit to where these premium multiplexes can take you as they are mainly Saturday and Sunday performers.

    Nautanki Saala Goes Down

    Wednesday 17th April 2013 10.30 IST
    Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Nautanki Saala collections are not holding up on weekdays as Tuesday saw the collections fall over 20% from the previous day. The circuits where the film was doing better like Delhi/UP and East Punjab are coming down very quickly.

The film will do around 16.50 crore nett business in its first week and with Ek Thi Daayan coming on Friday it will see a big fall on Friday.

The film was taken by Waves Group for all India at around 12.50 crore but the weekday trend suggests that the share of the film does not look like going much higher than 10 crore meaning a 20% approx loss for the all India distributor and that too at a fairly low price.
