Happy New Year to you all. May the new year bring good health, happiness and prosperity to all of you.
I would like to welcome you all to this new forum on this occasion. There are already a few forums out there so some people might wonder why is there a need for this new forum.
Now some of them are only one star based and some are not fair enough to everyone. Some members are allowed free rein to create nuisance and even rewarded for creating silly, nonsensical posts. Freedom of expression is used to justify this behavior while the same freedom is not allowed to some others. If there is a particular rule it should be implemented uniformly but it isn’t. Some people are punished while others are defended for similar posts.
I want this forum to be one of the best forums out there. To be that I think
- It needs good members – members who might disagree with others but who will not resort to abuse. So please recommend this forum to anyone who you think might be a good addition to the forum.
- It needs to avoid certain people who create nonsensical threads. So I am not going to allow those people here who have a history of creating nonsensical threads at other forums.
- It needs to have fans of all actors not just one actor. This way there would be diverse opinions and healthy discussion.
- If there is only serious discussion all the time the forum will become too boring. So I think it needs fun threads from time to time.
- I have observed that problems start when someone starts calling some star gay, midget, criminal, impotent and so on. So I don’t want this forum to be degraded with that kind of talk. You are still free to criticize an actor or his movies.
- It needs moderators who are not biased to any particular set of fans.
- It also needs moderators to be active and take care of the problem immediately.
Now I will be one of the moderators but I cannot be online all the time. So I will need some one else who can moderate the forum during afternoon/evening time in India. So will need a volunteer soon. But I seriously hope that the members will moderate themselves so that there won’t be a need for any extra moderation.
I understand that some of you may know each other from other forums and may have had fights at other forums but please don’t bring any baggage from those forums.
This is a new forum, a new beginning and a new year. So start afresh. Discuss movies, stars, actors, songs and most importantly have fun. Behave in such a manner that if you look back on this a few years later you should not feel shamed/embarrassed about it.
Paraphrasing the famous Golden Rule – Do unto other stars or their fans as you would have them do unto your favorite star or you.
Please let me know your views (suggestions or objections) on this as well as the draft of rules that I created.
There is a Hollywood forum too for those who are interested. Its a link on one of the tabs above. You will have to register again for that one or you can let me know and I can register you for that one.
There will be some teething problems as it is a new forum so let me know your suggestions and feedback from time to time.

But the thing with that is
1) It will be a separate forum and you will have to register again on that forum or I can register you again.
2) Posts made in that forum will not show up here unless you re-post that in this forum too.

I know some people who do not like Boxoffice posts will probably like that thing.

You yourself must have witnessed every Bollywood site having a separate forum for BO. No problem in re-registering their. (For me could you please do it 😉 ).
2) Posts made in that forum will not show up here unless you re-post that in this forum too. – Of course it should not show in the common “Forum” unless reposted.
Finally, there are more BO enthusiasts in the virtual world (especially in India). It will add tremendous to the site. You can take that guarantee from me.

My advice is to keep BO as part of this forum only, a separate section is good enough for the time being.

I agree with most of the “rules” that the admin has suggested…Yes name calling to anybody creates problems as we all think stars are extensions of our egoes…We all can criticise anybody without being personal…

You can always post SOTD/SOTW/Reviews in the forum just like you are posting BO articles now. May be you can name it as narad’s Song of the day to make it different from my thread.
If you mean you want your stuff to show up on the SOTD/SOTW/Reviews pages whose links are at the top right now its not possible. The thing is that was designed differently and the forum is something that I created a month ago using wordpress. So these are from different tables and structures. It might be something that I may be able to do in the future but it will be a while.
If you want your original reviews/articles to show up on the main home page for a week or so I can do that manually. I can add it under the blog section (it will be double posting) but I need to do some work on it. I think it will be a good idea to highlight original reviews/articles under the blog section.

Basically, a way of separating nice original posts n stuffs like that..
I think for now, we will post it regularly and then you can put it in the ‘official’ reviews tab or SOTD if u think those r deserving.
For example, let us consider movie reviews. I am sure you can’t watch all the movies released. So, if someone posts a good quality original review, then it should be showcased separately in the reviews section – my opinion. Let me think what u feel….If u agree, for the time being, you can post those manually.

Agree with you completely.
I will make changes so that I can put up reviews by members under that section. Its just that it needs some work. So give me some time.
Good to see this forum and hope that it flourishes and is able to maintain it’s rules and unbiasedness. Looking forward to good discussions here….I think this was much needed as other forums were losing there USP… All the best

I am already noticing that. I see lot more views and visitors for BO articles.

Let me do this. Let me see if I can tweak the category page to see if I can display it properly. If it works I will just add a tab with the link to that for now. We will eventually need a Boxoffice forum anyways.
If I have trouble doing that I will create a Boxoffice forum. You and others will have to double post at least those BO articles you want the common forum members to view.

Hey, I am also facing difficulties posting stuff …the posts are getting saved in ‘Draft’ but not getting published. Please look into it… Can u publish the post for me if possible?
By the way, it looks like SRK is having 2 releases in 2012 — YRF film and Chennai Express. Game ON!
I published it. The support guy told me that it will take 1 to 2 hrs for the changes to start working.
Comments posting wasn’t working either but have now started to work. I am able to post from my end and it will probably start working for everyone too in a hour or so. If you keep having issues let me know.

I added a Boxoffice tab at the top. The tab will show all the posts posted using the Boxoffice category.
I think this is better than creating another separate forum for now atleast. In the future if BO posts start cluttering the forum’s main page then I will try to filter the BO posts from the main forum page.

I have added Member Reviews and Original Articles links at the top right corner. This is so that Reviews and Articles written by members are highlighted and original content is encouraged.
Member Reviews will display all the reviews that are posted with category selected as Member under Reviews. Original Articles will display all the reviews that are posted with category selected as Original under Articles.
This is like a temporary thing. I will add these to the tabs at the top very soon.
I have also added a Hollywood Forum RSS feed so that it displays all the latest posts from the Hollywood Forum. These are the last item on the right sidebar at the bottom.
Thanks to narad for the member reviews suggestion. Now these member reviews will give more meaning to the site name tanqeed which means criticism.

I have also add made the following change.
The home page will display the latest 5 posts from the Bollywood Forum and the Hollywood Forum. It will only display the title and a link to them.
Home Page
I changed the Shoutbox to a one that has emoticons. Try it out and let me know if you have any issues.
When the page first loads it might take a while to load that but should be fine after it loads. If it doesn’t load then refresh the page.
I finally made some changes so that the main page automatically shows only a part of the post. Previously it was not displaying images/videos when I tried to do that. So the More tag had to be manually inserted in all the posts. Now there is no need to add that tag anymore.
