Happy New Year Set For Record Opening
Thursday 23 October 2014 14.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year is set for a record opening on day one beating the 32 crore nett figure set by Dhoom 3 last year. The film is releasing the day after Diwali which is the best day for collections The last time a universally record breaking was set was Ek Tha Tiger in 2012 and Happy New Year will be hoping for a repeat. The aim will be to set a new first day high in every circuit of India.
The film is three hours long which does limit the shows per screen but the last two years have seen the longer films sustaining better be it Dhoom 3 to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. A similar case can be expected from Happy New Year if content is accepted which will mean more records after the initial weekend.
Another major benchmark for the film can be a century weekend which has never happened before with Dhoom 3 falling a little short last year. The advance opened late with a couple of the major chains starting on Wednesday afternoon but despite that the advance for will be around 25-30% for day one which will mean sales of around 13-14 crore nett for day one even before a show has started.

Happy New Year Has Bumper Opening
Friday 24 October 2014 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year has taken a bumper opening all over with collections around the 75-80% mark on average which is better than all the films released this year by a distance. The opening is universal across the board. The biggest holiday of the year gives the film that extra boost especially at the single screens. The Shahrukh Khan – Deepika Padukone pairing has now seen a record or near record opening everytime they have been paired together.
The opening is extraordinary all over though Mumbai city can be called to be an out performer as it is rare to see shows at around 8.00am to be house full or near house full in multiplexes of Mumbai city. The city normally sees lower opening occupancies than cities like Delhi or Ahmedabad as it has a huge number of screenings.
The release in terms of screens is the widest ever but in terms of shows it is possibly less than Kick due to the long runtime of the film. The film is around 30 minutes longer than Kick which means Kick was getting six shows per screen at some multiplexes while that would be impossible with Happy New Year unless with it is very odd timings. Happy New Year is on course to break records and with another holiday tomorrow and then Sunday to follow it not only gives it a big chance of a first day record but also a weekend record.
Top Openings 2014 – Happy New Year Tops
Happy New Year has taken the best opening of the year by a distance in the morning shows and if this pace holds which it should as it is a big holiday it will be an all time record. The other films releases this year did not hold the same pace for some reason or the other apart from Ek Villain and 2 States.
Kick was hit by pre eid so although the opening was so strong it was uneven and the muslim centres slowed rapidly after first show at single screens. Bang Bang took a 70% start at multiplexes but was held back by single screens and slowed in the evening at many places. At the time it looked like it was due to Navratra’s and Puja’s but in hindsight it was obviously word of mouth kicking in. The other films that opened well were Ek Villain, Two States and Jai Ho with the first two being smaller releases and Jai Ho having better occupancies at multiplexes in the morning on lower rates but not really consolidating.
The average occupancies in the morning shows of releases this year are as follows.
1. Happy New Year 75-80%
2. Kick 60-65%
3. Bang Bang 60-65%
4. Ek Villain 60-65%
5. Jai Ho 55-60%
5. 2 States 55-60%

indicine also said that ” reports from theatre is very positive “
Happy New Year got preview shows at selected places in Pakistan last night and all went houseful. Movie released today has opened to over 90% occupancies.. Movie has been released with maximum rather record number of shows at theaters with nueplex cinemas showing as much of 15 shows today..
Movie has already seen huge advance with tickets at places like Dha, Cinestar and Atrium already sold out for the Weekend.. Movie will be chasing Day One record of Dhoom 3 in the territory today while Single day record of KICK will also be in hand.. Movie has biggest Advance of the year beating KICK so Weekend will result in something never seen before in Pakistan as at most places almost all shows have been given to the film..
Movie has been sold to Geo Films in the territory and has got monstrous number of shows everywhere despite Excellent hold over of local BLOCKBUSTER Na Maloom Afraad..

Just wonderful Sehzad ! let us not bring nationality here. It is cup of tea of politicians !!!
This was supposed to be a jibe. Where did I mention religion so that you are mentioning it?
Ppl dismiss here – “thats how madrasis are” while criticizing south action …which is again a “supposedly” regional comment but it is not.
And no need to go personal.
Why bring stupid nationality jokes just to reply or just to win an argument.
Yeah there is no need for stupid nationality jokes. So cut it out guys.
superb reply shehzad, gr8 going.
HNY Clocks 90pc @multiplexes; Record-Breaking Weekend Expected
by Rohini Nag (October 24, 2014)
Happy New Year released amid much jubilation among the audience today as multiplex properties across India saw occupancy of 90 to 95 per cent. Farah Khan’s film is expected to clock record-breaking numbers over the weekend as well due to advance booking, which is all sold out. Programmers believe the film will set new records and will be another feather in the cap for both the Khans – Farak and Shah Rukh. Over to them:
Ashish Saksena, BIG Cinemas
The film drew an extraordinary day-one response with an average occupancy of 95 per cent in all of our properties. This film is will wrap its first day with gigantic numbers. The weekend too is house full as advance bookings were fabulous.
Amar Laykar, PVR Cinemax
Some films are tailor-made for the Indian audience and Farah Khan is a director who always assigns the audience top priority while making a film. And Shah Rukh Khan does what he does best – making a larger-than-life film a lot larger by not only producing it but also acting in it. The film will create many records as it has back-to-back house-full shows and 95-per cent footfalls at our properties.
Ansh Kapoor, Fun Cinemas
HNY took a rock-solid start, which grew stronger with every successive show. We saw 90 to 95 per cent occupancy today and expect a similar response over the weekend. Shah Rukh Khan and his team have outdone themselves.
Harshad Parmar, Carnival
Happy New Year took a fantastic start at our properties today, around 90 to 95 per cent, and we expect superlative net collections during the weekend. The film is a blockbuster already. With record-breaking day-one collections expected, the weekend will be nothing short of a celebration as well.
Ashish Gogia, Suncity
Happy New Year saw near 100-per cent occupancy at most of our properties today, and we expect a bigger and better weekend. The film is truly a celebration as the audience is enjoying it.
https://www.boxofficeindia.co.in/hny-clocks-90pc-multiplexes-record-breaking-weekend-expected/
but no one is talking on how much screens it has released, this is the most important thing now to know how big the first day is
if its just around the record ( kick ) , then even with this occupancy the first day will be around 33-34 i think

Happy New Year has created history on day one recording the highest collections ever on day one beating the Dhoom 3 figure of 32 crore nett. The early figures coming for Hindi version suggest the total will be in the 37-38 crore nett range as per early estimates. An out performance in Mumbai and South can take it bit higher.
The film has run riot on day in multiplexes all over recording the highest occupancies since films started going wide with over 2000 screens. The mass circuits are also huge but are unlikely to beat records by the levels that multiplexes are beating. A circuit like Rajasthan is looking near 2 crore nett which is similar to Dhoom 3 but at that time there was no entertainment tax. Delhi/UP is an all time record with likely collections to touch 7 crore nett.
Happy New Year is looking to beat the previous record by around 15% which is extraordinary as the long runtime meant less screenings at multiplexes. It could have added a few crore more with a shorther runtime but it is not that important as that will made up over the week if the film keeps the momentum going.

BOI updated the post with 38-40 crore estimates .
As BABA rightly said .. BOI is Khan’s PR site. HNY numbers will definitely be excellent for day one .. but BOI will not shy away putting even bigger than producer numbers for khan movies.
For babaji who believes in producer numbers #HappyNewYear collects ₹ 44.97 cr on opening day: Hindi 42.62 cr, Telugu 1.43 cr and Tamil 92 lacs.
for khans whether you give boi or producer nos, its the same thing. there will be max 10-15 cr difference with end total
Happy New Year Has Extraordinary First Day
Saturday 25 October 2014 12.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year managed a huge first day grossing around the 40 crore nett mark and managed a to put up new circuit records in most circuits. The ones to miss out were Rajasthan, Nizam/Andhra, Tamil Nadu/Kerala and Bihar.
Rajasthan was technically a record but as there is tax in the circuit now, the nett number was less than Dhoom 3. Circuits like CP Berar and CI set new records by a few lakhs but bigger circuits beat by bigger distances. Mumbai record was 12.10 crore nett of Singham Returns and Chennai Express is looking at a figure of 13.50 crore nett. Delhi/UP is looking around 6.75 crore nett beating the 6 crore nett of Dhoom 3. East Punjab grossed 3.51 crore nett beating the 2.92 crore nett of Dhoom 3
Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu/Kerala fell short of the figures recorded by Chennai Express while Bihar was less than Singham Returns. Saturday is another holiday in many parts of the country and it is important that the film holds well which will ensure it is a major winner with Monday to decide whether the film can emerge a blockbuster.

40cr by BOI wasnt expected , not at all
with regional release its more than 42cr , and producer number are at 45cr
film being liked by majority , if today fall just by 15% , sunday can be back at 40cr
and week end can be at around 110cr ( dhoom 3 95cr )
Dont forget Dhoom3 did 23cr on its 6th day. HNY will fall big time.
dhoom 3 final total was not in my expectation.
srk have done what he can do for the film, big opening day, and surely big week end.
lets see what happen after that

#HappyNewYear 5crs from Overseas is only from N. America, UK, Aus, NZ,Malaysia..Middle East, Pakistan, Singapore & others data still pending
When the worldwide numbers come in, Dhoom3 will still lead on biggest worldwide day 1.
Dhoom3 had reportedly 800 screen/print count Overseas. HNY has widest till date i.e. 1000 approx. They had a big promotional tour SLAM overseas. Still it does only 50% of what D3 did on Day1.
In NA & UK It didn’t release on all screens.Wait for Saturday figure. .
Happy New Year is rock-steady at single-screens too, which suggests that the word-of-mouth even with the masses is pretty good. Most films that aren’t carrying appreciation, begin to show drops at single-screens as early as Friday evening, that hasn’t been the case with Happy New Year. The film opened very well on Friday and remained steady throughout the day. Saturday too has opened on a very positive note.

Happy New Year Set For A Strong Second Day

Happy New Year is looking at a 25% drop on day two which is pretty good after coming of a big holiday. Normally the fall will would have been bigger but is a holiday for Bhai Dooj at places and the fact that it was a Saturday rather than a working day helped the movie.
The collections on day two will be in the 30 crore nett region as per the early figures coming in. The falls in most circuits will be in the 20-30% range and a couple may even fall less than 20% where the holiday affect is more. The film has put up huge numbers over the first two days and now there is Sunday to come which may take it to the century mark in three days.
Though as it is a part holiday on Saturday it is possible that Sunday may not grow like it normally does for mass films. Still even if there is no growth it will still be a huge weekend.
LOL. look at thier defense. a 10 cr (25% drop) is being reported as “strong trending” even though they themselves say sat was part holiday due to bhaidooj. BB had a 16% drop on saturday which was a working day and not the second but third day of its release was reported as a “crack”
After such a huge first day It is expected .
that would be true if sat was a working day.sat was not a working day for all. its a diwlai weekensd.they have accepted it themselves. a 10 cr drop on day 2 is not small.compare this with the BB commentary that they gave.they are already giving defense why sunday will not be very high.
Baba ji, drop is due to huge first day, which you deliberately ignored..
Btw I dnt trust boi, a khan fanatic site.. I trust producer number ND Komal nahata.. We will put their number..
good to know. i knew once hny is out, prodcuer nos, bwhungama , komal , bocapsule, koimoi everything will be posted. they were banned only for BB
Sir I guess u didn’t get the on the face pun..
Btw you started this.. We hv to finish it.
it wasnt that intelligent that someone would not get it to begin with! seems you didnt get the sarcasm in my reply.i havent started this. its been happening for years and there is no finish to this 🙂
Yes it was as stupid as oso was… I certainly dnt know they were banned for bb, coz I hv seen such comments.. ND I hvnt seen such comments from any other lil sensible guys..
Just to clear, I liked oso very much.. Hny is worse than oso nd mhn.. Set ur expectation right..
That’s quite a fall . Looks like 100 cr weekend ,150-160 first week .

Happy New Year did well on day two as it grossed around 28.50 crore nett on its second day taking its two day total to 68 crore nett plus. The film held best in the Gujarat where it is holiday season and other places where there was a holiday for Bhai Dooj while other places showed a fall which happens after a big holiday.
The film is best in Mumbai due to the Gujarat factor while Delhi/UP is also strong due to strong figures in UP in day two. The under performance is in the East even though Shahrukh Khan is by a margin the biggest star in West Bengal
The Saturday numbers are less than Dhoom 3 and which collected 30.5 on Saturday while Chennai Express was in the same range as Happy new Year. The business on Sunday will be up and down as the places where it was a holiday on Saturday could drop while others where it was a normal should grow.
this is a collapse. 30% drop and day 2 was partial holiday. and look at BOIs defensive commentary where they are only talking about circuits were its “holding” and not the ones where its not.The wom is negative. Compare this to their BB commentary ,who had half the % drop than HNY, where only the circuits that used to go down were reported . cr7 – be candid . ist this true?
I think its underwhelming but not anyway a collapse . Its the humongous first day that makes 30 cr 2nd day look bad .Film is all set to beat Kick .Monday will determine whether It’ll beat dhoom 3 or not .Open weeks will be an advantage . I haven’t followed bb commentary . So can’t comment on that. .And BB was a very small movie compared to hny .So don’t know if it is a fair comparison or not .
And you need to decide first .What you have a problem with , BOI numbers or commentary ? 😛
you still seem hopeful 😉 if you havent followed boi commentary for previous films, then there is not much to argue about. their commentaries were worse than the nos.
Happy New Year Set For Second Highest Overseas Opening Ever

Happy New Year may take the second biggest opening ever in Overseas. The film will not beat Dhoom 3 which collected over $10 million but may edge past the second biggest opener Chennai Express which grossed $7.25 million approx.
The two day figures are around £400,000 in United Kingdon and $1,200,000 in US/Canada. The Gulf is looking at a weekend somewhere around the $2,5 million region. There are no holidays in Overseas in the Diwali period like Christmas and it is not as good as the Eid period especially in places lik UK and Gulf.
The weekend overseas should be over the $7 million mark mark but remains to be seen if it can to around $8 million
aamir has overtaken the overseas knight title from srk since 3i
One fact for that is in UK and US Christmas is a big holiday time and Aamir released only during Christmas. But yes, it is only as far as opening. Overall lifetime depends on content.
Still, with heavy SLAM tour promotions and all, this is a bit disappointment for SRK.
SRK movies are under performing in north america for quite some time now . Compared to Aamir of course. No one else is close .
2nd collection is underwhelming… When I saw the movie I thought movie is better than ce (I saw it on laptop) . So it should earn better.. Even I was hopeful for 250 cr.. But now its lil difficult.. If srk couldn’t cross d3 record the he should accept Aamir is bigger crowd puller.. Hny has other stats too ND all other stars were good.. Though nobody is crowd puller among them.. But then d3 was worse than hny.. Only trailer of d3 was better than hny..
So hny has everything going for it.. Now of it didn’t cross d3 record then obviously ak is number 1..
Today looks like 22-27cr. Monday will be in the range 14-15.
You mean further drop today ? Don’t think so .. Drop on Sunday means complete crash on Monday.
it is possiblity that the day 1 numbers were inflated so that they can write “srk broke day 1 record” and now they are compensating or adjusting in day 2 and day 3 numbers bcos the kind of trend hny has shown over the 3 days (if we go by boi ) happens for films that are totally rejected like besharam or kites. i dont think sat and sun would drop this much from day 1 . prodcuers numbers are not yet out but some sites have a 10 cr higher number . so if you go by that, the film has acceptance at some bare minimum level and if you go by boi, it means wom is negative
https://www.koimoi.com/box-office/happy-new-year-1st-saturday-day-2-box-office-collections/
That would be a really honest gesture from BOI . #respect
my sympathies with you cr. dukh ki is gadhi mein main aapke saath hoon. 😀 dont get irriated guess what, srk acted well in HNY. did that make you happy?
Call me irritated when I start to post producer, deccan or koimoi numbers 😛
the one who reacts is the one who gets irritated. not the one who posts. 🙂 posting komal/taran/koimoi got lot of irritating reactions from you and others.and that was the plan
Was your plan to become a laughingstock? Then I would say It worked .
aaj cr bade gusse mein hain . ek to hny crash hoti jaa rahi hai upar se koi producer total bhi nahi post karta . dono taraf se maare gaye 😉 if you want, i will post them for you cr. you are a dear friend :* you just have to ask. aapke liye mein kurbaani doonga
LOL. why did you edit your earlier comment “do yoiu even read what you write” ? 😉 you had not understood the maths in my comment in first read, isnt it?
BOI usually gives breakup of first day. It has not given for HNY.
I think breakup will come lesser than what they said.
I would actually be more on side of Girish Johar and KRK after Amitabh himself did the opening for KRK.
I think KRK is a joke as far as film reviews go. But I think he is consistent and honest unlike Komal Nahta or TA.
Happy New Year Sunday Early Estimate
Sunday 26 October 2014 23.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year will be in the same range as Saturday on Sunday with collections in that 28-30 crore nett range which is expected as wherever it was a holiday on Saturday the collections have not gone higher. The potential for growth was in the metros but they find it hard to add on Sunday anyway as night shows are weak.
The growth will probably come in places like East Punjab and West Bengal while most other areas will remain more or less the same with metros like Mumbai city and Bangalore down slightly.
The film will rake an extraordinary weekend though fall a little short of the 100 crore nett mark and to become that real big grosser the acid test will be Monday.
so what ritz predicted was indeed right. this film is going nowhere. wom is negative.mon will be 60-70% drop
Very disappointing Sunday figures .Great weekend overall . 220 looks like a realistic target now .
Happy New Year Has Huge First Weekend

Happy New Year had a huge first weekend with collections around the 97 crore nett mark. The collections were record breaking on day one as it was national holiday but the next two days saw collections drop to lower levels with both days collecting below 30 crore nett. Saturday was a holiday in some parts of the country which meant Sunday failed to show any worthwhile growth from Saturday.
The film set a record in Mumbai circuit grossing around 32.5 crore nett but most of the other circuits fell a little short of Dhoom 3 as far as weekend business is concerned. Both Delhi/UP and East Punjab were around 25 lakhs nett less than Dhoom 3.
The weekend numbers are huge but ideally it would have been better a trend if the film settled at above 30 crore nett on Saturday and Sunday rather than below it. Now the Monday number is all important if it is to challenge the biggest grosser of 2013 Kick. Kick grossed around 155 crore nett in week one.
The Tamil and Telugu versions of the film did not perform that well as this market is mainly for actions films.
LOL 😀 now 200 cr is a dream
Idk u its performing bad. Wom was mixed like ce. Its performing like singham returns. Now movie will not pick up.. It had many things working for it. Underperformance of it will definitely affect the srk’s stardom. I still cant figure out what can be the reason behind its underperformance.. Movie was ok, wom was mixed,
I dont think it will crash badly on Monday. It will do Ok. Like 14Cr-15Cr or so. Singham Returns like crash wont happen as it is a family entertainer (even if “so called”). Major concern for SRK is the overseas underperformance after having done extensive tour SLAM and widest release over there.
wom is not at all like CE.i was one of the first ppl to praise ce (both promo and film) online. CE had good humour and it had deepika in one of her career best performances, while in HNY its disaster acting from all except srk.
Happy New Year – 175 Crore Worldwide Weekend

Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year grossed a huge 175 crore approx worldwide in its first weekend. The collections are less than Dhoom 3 which was 192 crore but better than Chennai express at 160 crore. The top worldwide opening weekend figures are as follows
1. Dhoom 3 – 192 crore
2. Happy New Year – 175 crore
3. Chennai Express – 160 crore
3. Kick – 126 crore
5. Singham Returns – 119 crore
The other films to go over 100 crore weekend in terms of worldwide figures are Bang Bang, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Dabangg 2 and Jai Ho.
hny monday will be 15-17 cr.So total around 160cr.It has trended worse than tmk.
Sunil, thanks. I think the same.
17 Crore is good number for Monday .. just 58 percent fall which is fine when start is Huge.
But i have doubt for 17 .. it will be more like 10-12 in actual .. inflated kuch bhi dikha do.

Happy New Year has seen a drop in collections on Monday as the early numbers suggest a figure of around 13.50 crore nett. There is holidays still going on in Gujarat which could push it a bit higher but the better trend in Gujarat will be due to holidays and will only last till Wednesday.
The Monday figure is good when looked at the number as only three or films have collected this much when its not been a holiday on Monday but there is a drop in collections from the weekend even if we take into account it was a big holiday on day one and collections were very high.
The Monday figure is in the same range as Chennai Express last year and Kick this year but the trend is not good as those films as they were not coming of such a start as Happy New Year especially Kick which started with 25 crore nett opening due to pre Eid.
Say hello to karma. Its a bloody bitch! this is what happens when you think bad for others
haha . I’m sure you’re not referring to me 😛
The way its going ett looks tough . Failing to beat kick with 100 cr weekend will be an embarrassment .
Its Bollywood.. People change their statements on every Friday.. I dnt think srk will be at huge loss after hny, though he will not be considered for no 1 position.. Which Salman is also not.. But the Salman is less competitive nd never said he is number 1. Right now ak is number 1.
Srk need movie like cdi, osi nd mnik to get his crown back which can run on bo nd are lil better movies. He can never win by Salman way, coz people’s different expectation nd fan following.. A rohit Shetty is ok though not perfect but people are tired of anubhav Sinha nd Farah khan.. if he want to become king again nd get back his fan following he has to change nd give people a movie which is bo success and appreciated by all like cdi.. Though he can give competition to ak nd sk by an average product too but for becoming truly no 1 again he needs very good movies.
His future movies looks good so he can still hope.
In any case movie is Hit as per current standard .. Farah/SRK got success .. 80 Crore upar ya 80 Crore niche .. koi farak nahi padta.
But if Bang Bang is Semi Hit at 145 Crore .. HNY, being almost double the cost, will be average at 190 … 😉
Happy New Year At 109 Crore After Four Days
Tuesday 28 October 2014 12.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year grossed around 12.25 crore nett on Monday which is a big drop from its first which was a huge national holiday but around 55% from Saturday nd Sunday which were normal days. The film saw a big drop in the metros and circuits like East Punjab.
The total after four days is around 109 crore nett and the film should gross around 135 crore nett for the week going by its Monday figure but it could be a bit lower as Gujarat could come down on Wednesday when the holidays stop in the circuit.
The Monday figure is pretty good as a number but if we take into account that Gujarat is holiday and without that it would have been 11 crore nett or less then the trend is not strong. The film not become a major blockbuster like a Kick or Chennai Express but won’t be a Bang bang or Jai Ho as well because the huge weekend has ensured the film will be on the plus side..

Crash Crash!!!!!
Hope SRK avoid doing films with farah now and work with better directors.
LOL!look at the ridiculous BOI defense at the crash. HNY cost is 150 cr! 😉 yes it wont be BB which never crashed and had very good trending of 2.5 times weekend and hny wil struggle to do 1.5 times its weekend and might just recover its cost.it is also not a jai ho. hny is the next ra1
Now SRK will start his “2 pe 1 tkt free” to reach 200 somehow 😛
it wil be lucky to outgrss dabang 2
this 70% crash shows how much contribution rohit shetty had in CE gross. many srk fans dismissed him off that time. it is proved again that outside rohit shetty, srk is capable of delivering only ra1s
Content is always the key for every superstar. Superstar can bring initial audience to cinema on opening day, that’s it.
Jackie’s Note (from 1987) :
“A star can only give a film decent opening. Amitabh bachchan can guarantee a three week initial, Vinod Khanna one week and guys like us can sustain a film through first four days, thereafter its the film — and only the film — that runs. No star can save bad film”
hny was sold to yrf for 125.if overseas is 70cr,then hny should gross 180cr in india to be average.Less than 180cr is flop.
hny might end up around160cr
I observed one thing … Mostly positive feedback is coming out from people whose show has massive number of SRkians creating atmosphere (like i pointed out in my review) with whistles and claps even on ordinary moments.
Feedback is not exactly positive from audience who saw movie in half filled show and quite audience.
And i observed same while watching Singham Returns .. due to extraordinary atmosphere in cinema, It was thumbs up from me. But later when i saw on TV .. i was wondering if it is same movie i watched earlier ?
I experienced same thing with Golmaal3. Whole theater was laughting and kids too.

Happy New Year has grossed around 10.50 crore nett on Tuesday as per early estimates which is a good figure for Tuesday. There was a fall in the big cities on Monday but those have held much better on Tuesday. Gujarat is continuing its extraordinary run.
The falls are a bit more in circuits like CI and Rajasthan but they were steadier on Monday. the film is being helped by holidays in Gujarat but that will not be the case on Wednesday. The collections in Delhi/UP will around 2 crore nett and the circuit is heading for huge first week total of around 25 crore nett.
The second weekend will decide where the film is going in terms of lifetime business, the advantage is that although there are a couple of releases they are not really going to hurt the collections of Happy New Year.
From a 70% crash on monday it has further dropped by 16% on Tuesday and boi calls this “good figure”.lets give boi some time to adjust to the catastrophe. It has come down signifucantly from its initial orgasm.
Happy New Year At 120 Crore Nett After Five Days
Wednesday 29 October 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year tooks it total to a huge 120 crore nett in five days as the Tuesday business was in the 11 crore nett range. The film had a decent hold from Monday in a few circuits.
There is likely to be a drop on Wednesday as business in Gujarat falls but the week is looking at a huge 135 crore nett. The best performing circuit is Mumbai due to Gujarat while West Bengal is the under performing circuit as it should be doing higher business as most Shahrukh Khan films tend to outperform in West Bengal. The business in Gujarat for the week may come out to be the highest ever.
The second week business will decide where the film is going and it would have settled to normal levels in all circuits by then as the the holidays in various circuits will be over…

looks like wed nos will not be reported by khan PR blog BOI. 😉 going by prodcuer nos, the drop for wed was more than 15% as i had said yday. and now they are reporting overseas for hny which thye never did for BB
Usually they declare for whole week, not the wednesday/thrusday figures.
134 Crore first week …
Happy New Year has grossed a huge 134 crore nett in its first week and the second highest first week of the year after Kick which grossed around 155 crore nett. The film had strong weekend and its all India collections were good on Monday and Tuesday but it fell on Wednesday.
Despite the falls in the latter part of the week it has still racked up a big first week number as Mumbai circuit has put up a fantastic number of around 46 crore nett and Gujarat could be an all time record for week one when the finally numbers come.
The film has not up held up with strongly but its not bad either and the second week will contribute a healthy total. The hold is not as strong as Kick but better than other big films this year like Singham Returns, Bang Bang and Jai Ho so second week figures should be higher than those films.

185 lifetime (+/- 5cr)
it will be less than 175 by boi and 180-190 by producers. boi will not have more than 10-20 cr difference with producers
Happy New Year Eighth Day Business
Saturday 01 November 2014 11.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Happy New Year had good collections on Friday of around 4.50 crore nett. Although the drop from day one is big but that was a big holiday. The drop from Thursday is just 25% and big budget releases tend to se bigger jumps from day seven to day eight. .
The film will show good growth on Saturday and Sunday and the weekend should go towards the 18-19 crore nett range which would mean the second highest second weekend of the year after Kick. The fact that the new releases are unlikely to grow much may even help to push it towards a 20 crore nett second weekend.
The holiday season has finished and film has settled and it has put up better numbers at multiplexes than single screens. Mumbai circuit leads the way as far as best performance.

81% fall from day1.
90% fall from day 1
Happy New Year showed huge growth on its second Saturday and Sunday to gross around 20 crore nett in its second weekend and take its ten day total to close to 154 crore nett.

Friday – 4,25,00,000
Saturday – 6,75,00,000
Sunday – 9,25,00,000

The growth on the second Saturday and Sunday was huge even compared to many other big grossers. It means the film has been well appreciated by the family audiences and this likely trend will be repeated in third weekend. There are holidays in certain states on Tuesday and Thursday which should give collections an extra boost in various circuits and the week could go towards 35 crore nett.
LOL at “huge growth”

“HNY is the most nonsensical film I’ve seen in recent years. I said that to the film’s lead actor as well. I watched it only because Abhishek was part of it. I told him he’s a great actor if he can act stupid in front of the camera like that. I can’t be part of what is being done in films these days and hence I don’t do films anymore,” she said.

HNY producer numbers till second weekend : 179.8 cr
HNY BOI numbers till second weekend : 154 cr
HNY producer numbers after second week :193 cr
HNY boi numbers after second week : 168 cr
168-154 = 14 cr and 193-179.8 = 13.2 cr.
BOI is reporting numbers higher than producers and then i am told BOI is not a khan PR blog 😉
Mind you the collections of producer inculde regional numbers while BOI is only for “hindi”!
though BOI commentary and verdicts are stupid their territorial nos are not biased at all ..
throughout the week they give estimates and when final territorial comes they get it corrected
They pump the stars who are hot piece just like Ranbir was being pumped after YJHD …
they never “adjust/correct” numbers for non-khans. there is always a consistent underreporting.BOI is reporting higher HINDI numbers than the hindi+regional collecitons of prodcuer in second weekday collections. its all naked. there isnt anythign to cover here.this is not the first time boi has reported higher than prodcuer nos for khans. this is JUST ANOTHER example. the reducing of 10-20-25 cr by boi for khan films is a ploy so that it can redcue 40-60 cr from non khans.
look at the misery of all this exercise – inspite of so much manipulaitons, hny is struggling to cross even 200 by boi 😀
BOI have 34.5 for second week and producer 35.87 cr , so still less for boi than the producer
par phir bhi agar app ki baat man bhi lein, 0.8cr ziada kar dia aur khan ka pr site ban gia tho, pehle week mei ziada karne mei kis nei rokah tha boi ko?
tab hi producer ke kareeb kareeb kar dete, kissi nei bhi koi enquiry to karni nahi thi
read my above comment properly. the producer numbers are including hindi+regional while the BOI numbers are purely hindi. they are reporting higher hINDI numbers than prodcuer regional+hindi in weekdays. is anything more left to be said in words?
they keep a 10-20-25 cr diff with prodcuers for khan films so that they can reduce 40-60 cr from nonkhans.its a silly manipulative tactics.
second week mei regional colelction hain hi takreeban zero, especially week days of second week
ranbir is a non khan, but still boi and producer number were very close for yjhd especially the most important first week
same for singham 2, boi practically gave the producer number
in fact since jthj boi always give less collection for srk film, even with ce baut mushkil se mahne ke 3 idiots ka record thore gi ect…
for hny, other trade like boi.co.in, girish, boxofficedetail , have all around 7-8 cr more for the first week
Let me be kind and consider the prodcuer numbers of HNY. HNY DS so far is 115 cr (india) and 35 cr overseas . thats 150 cr from theatrical. add 40 cr for satellite/dvd/pnp. thats an ROI of 190-165 = 25 cr , less than twice the ROI BB and holiday made (both have roi in excess of 50 cr). infact in case of holiday, the ROI % is very high as its budget is significantly low than BB and hny.but the khan pr blog boi gives superhit to HNY and semi hit, hit to others.
and with this srk have 11 or 12 consecutive hit film ( with 3-4 blockbuster )
u know that boi never gave a verdict based on roi, they also take in count the release sise, especially the number of shows ect…
khair hny ka super hit to easy banta hai, liken yes bb could have been called a hit at 140cr
and even jai ho could have been average not semi hit
they give verdicts based on what suits them. anyway this is my last comment on HNY BO. its time to move on
Baba jee apne favorite site koimoi ko dekah. Hny nei kriss3 aur kick dono ko cross kar dia ww collection mei.
dont make me speak more hny anymore please 😀 it will open a pandora box. i am done with it. i dont care about koimoi or boi or bollywoodhungama beyond a point
