Ford v Ferrari Review by Sputnik

Academy Award® Winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in FORD v FERRARI, based on the true story of visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.

Some scenes are good like the scene where Henry Ford II decides to build a car to defeat Ferrari or the scene where Miles gets nearly killed when the car’s brakes fail during testing or the scene where Shelby takes Henry Ford for a drive or the NASCAR race scenes. The best scene of the movie is the 24 hours of Le Mans race.

Christian Bale is very good as Ken Miles but his British accent did not sound right. Matt Damon is very good as Carroll Shelby. Jon Bernthal is good as Lee Iacocca, vice president of Ford. Caitriona Balfe looked pretty and is good as Mollie, Miles’s wife. Tracy Letts is very good as Henry Ford II, the CEO of Ford. Josh Lucas is very good in a negative role as Leo Beebe, senior executive vice president of Ford. Noah Jupe is good as Peter, Miles’s son. Remo Girone is very good as Enzo Ferrari, founder of Ferrari. The rest of the cast is good too.

The movie has been nominated for Oscars for Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing. The movie will most probably win Oscars for Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

The movie is entertaining and very engrossing. Screenplay by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and Jason Keller is good. They do take some cinematic liberties which you can read here. James Mangold’s direction is very good.
