@Sputnik-Is it okay to post song promos as separate post or should I post them in previous threads ?

    • sputnik 10 years ago

Yes its ok to post song promos as separate posts.

If the song is from a movie has low buzz or no starcast and is not going to get any comments then I usually post in the trailer thread or something like that.

    Total crap.

Aamir looks good in this new avatar.

    Good try by Aamir.

LOL! aamirs attempt at tap dancing reminded me of mimoh

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=i8Gg_g0T6FE

i wonder what the makers smoked firstly to pass him off as a gymnast and secondly to make him attempt tap dance as an item number!john never danced in d1 as it was not his terrain. hrithik danced bcos it is his strength. its understandable why they are releasing 30 sec teasers and not full song promos.karne se pehle sochna chahiye tha

    • Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

      @Baba

While agree on dancing and being gymnast – aamir is the only one (because of his height) who can pass off as a circus clown.

      • Baba 10 years ago

thing is he is not even a clown in these promos. clowns dont do gymnastics and tap dancing. clown is a comic performer in a circus and the range of his performance is limited to invoking humour. if aamir was playing a mime artist, then he could have possibly done the dancing and gymnastics too.

  6. Aman 10 years ago

I think given his age Aamir has managed this quite well.
HR dance moves have become repetitive since more than a decade. And I wouldn’t just want to go watch a Dhoom movie to see the dance steps of the hero. For that Naache Mayuri dekhna kaafi hoga!

And I can say with conviction that Dhoom 3 would be better than Dhoom 2 wrt the storyline and acting as I consider Aamir to be a far superior actor compared to HR.

    • Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

What was Hrithik’s profession in D2?

  7. sputnik 10 years ago

LOL. Looks ridiculous. Watch from 24 seconds Aamir can’t even do it properly. It looks like he is trying to stomp cockroaches with his feet.

    ————-

    @Baba,

I think they are inspired by Now You See Me but they are mixing up too many things. A Magic show is entirely different from a Circus.

Agree with you that “clown is a comic performer in a circus and the range of his performance is limited to invoking humour.” I think they used the Joker thing just because it sounds cool with the reference to Batman series. But since he is also the hero/star (technically villain) of this movie he is doing everything from gymnastics to tap dancing and magic and what not.

I guess people don’t care about these things. An ACP from Mumbai is chasing a thief in Chicago? I doubt the Chicago Police Department will let some cop from India take center stage in their pursuit of a thief.

  8. FS 10 years ago

The camera angle has ruined the setup. It looks like hobbit dancing with Indian pals. Actually the Hobbit has danced better than him in The Hobbit and also the first part of Lord of the Rings. That is much more fascinating than this awful dance.

  9. Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

According to someone, this will be in Title credits.

The choreographer for Dhoom3: Dein Perry.

    • Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

I think you guys have different expectation as far as tap dancing goes. Its in a way similar to Kathak where the foot movement sound is as important as looks of the dancer. Maybe Aamir is doing it right? After-all why Birju Maharaj is a legend? Does he look good while dancing or does he sound good with his movements?

Ofcourse he has the grace and not comparing him with aamir in any way (that would be ridiculous) but just saying that then Aamir is a non-dancer and he did a very good job here IMO and the criticism is fine – but I dont think it is as bad as dismissing it as stupid.

      • sputnik 10 years ago

First of all what is the need for him to do tap dancing in the movie? Tap dancing is an old dance form which was popular in those old Hollywood musicals.

No Aamir is not doing right and I don’t think he is even wearing the proper tap dancing shoes. Aamir sucks at it and even the choreography sucks here. When they had PR articles that Aamir is learning tap dancing and that he is flawless (Link) at tap dancing then there will be criticism. Then why criticize Madhubala for MEA? May be she also did good for being a non dancer.

I had posted this song Singin’ in the Rain by Gene Kelly as SOTD and I consider it to be one of the best picturized Hollywood songs ever. Watch the video from 2 min and see how great tap dancing can be and how graceful he is. And for all those who are using Aamir’s age excuse Gene Kelly was 40 years old when he did this.

        https://tanqeed.com/sotd-singin-in-the-rain-gene-kelly/

        • Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

“I don’t think he is even wearing the proper tap dancing shoes”

I agree. I think those are his regular shoes to increase his height by 2-3 inches.

Madhubala was playing a court dancer in MEA and such role requires dancing skills.

Also, while its true that tap dancing is not required here – but its Dhoom series (brainless). I wont say choreography is bad as its too short a video to judge. I think they just kept this song as title song just because Hrithik had a good title dancing song. And that is a stupid idea.

My point was he is not that bad at something which requires years of practice. That is how a judgment is done on dance shows like Jhalak Dikhla Ja. For a newbie he was good here. But yeah ..this is not a dance show ..so you are right in what you say.

“And for all those who are using Aamir’s age excuse Gene Kelly was 40 years old when he did this.”

Its not about age – its about how many years you are into that, it requires lot of practice. I saw the song (didnt hear it) I think I have seen better tap dancing than that – in the song it was very minimal. Maybe the song music had more impact. Will listen to it in some time.

          • hithere 10 years ago

Gene Kelly was choreographer first than any thing else. But yes acts should be convincing enough for regular audience. To me all Tap dance look same with varying degree of grace.

ps – As kid all Sardar ji uncles looked same to me 🙂

        • Baba 10 years ago

agree on tap dancing being outdated as an art form. and as ritz rightly said, tap dance is mostly applauded for the sounds that it produces and not the movements of the dancer. even the best of tap dancers look awkward while doing it. it is not a visually appealing dance form like say popping/locking/b-boying.but then the d3 tap dance sounds are recorded! i think the makers chose a wrong dance form here.

          • hithere 10 years ago

Now to beat Hrithik of D2, you need to be Prabhu Deva or probably Shahid. So why not change the dance form 😉

          • Baba 10 years ago

john didnt dance in d1 bcos he is a non-dancer. aamir didnt have to dance in d3. looks like he wanted to show off that he can dance too. and he chose tap dance where his shortcomings as a dancer looks even more pronounced.chaturai kaam na aayi

aamir has done good job bhai..now relax please 🙂

  11. Aman 10 years ago

One has to give it this guy. Even at 48 he doesn’t shy from working hard for a role.

  12. Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

    LOL @hithere

That is why I dont like Kathak, where I cant see the grace or real foot movements. I prefer Bharatnatyam – its a pleasure to watch the performers. Next one I prefer is Odissi where movements are smooth but all are visible.

Kathak is a different beast. Maybe I haven’t seen it enough to like it.

  13. Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

Well, I don’t pretend to be an authority on the Indian Classical dancing – but you all can see where I am coming from:

Kathak does not have more leg movements visible:

Whereas Bharatnatyam is more aggressive in lower part of body – most strenuous dance form. (one requires a hell lot of strength to perform Bharatnatyam)

  14. Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

“Now to beat Hrithik of D2, you need to be Prabhu Deva or probably Shahid. So why not change the dance form”

    @Hithere

I think both of them would have struggled with this dance form. 🙂

I don’t think changing the dance form was a good choice – it may look OK to Good on screen in titles. (first of all it was not required at all with aamir in the lead)

  15. shan 10 years ago

I am surprised at the folks defending Aamir here with statements like “for his age, he has done well” and “look at the hard work he has put in”. Somehow same parameters are not applied when others deliver crap, are they? 🙂

On the song, Aamir looks uneasy and plain bad trying to tap dance. Appreciate all the efforts he has put in, but as his character said in 3 Idiots “Agar Lata Mangeshkar ke father use bolte ke fast bowler ban ja, to socho aaj wo kahan hoti”. Stick to your strengths. There is no harm trying out new stuff, but when you have established yourself as a perfectionist, even a below average attempt will be looked at as if it is a failure.

P.S. : I am not an Aamir hater. In fact, I love the guy and most of his movies. I am just surprised at the hypocrisy displayed by some here.

  16. shan 10 years ago

Also, what’s up with that terrible one-note expression he has in all Dhoom promos? He is looking extremely wannabe and that is new coming from Aamir. Looking forward to Peekay already.

  19. Bored 10 years ago

Aamir may not look good tap dancing or riding bikes – but one thing is for sure. He wont ham and irritate us in the way SRK did in his Don movies. That itself is a huge win for Aamir, even if D3 does not do 200 cr (unlikely to happen).

But, i do think Salman wud have looked more convincing in a Dhoom movie and Aamir wud have made a better remake of Stalin.

    • Baba 10 years ago

agreed. if one has to choose among khans, salman is best suited for this.and i am not saying this from his recent bastardised south masala outings but based on his KA, veergati. he did very well in the brooding action roles.ideally tiger shroff was perfect for d3. it could have been an ideal debut and the film may have shaped better without the BO target burdens with him.

  20. Bored 10 years ago

If YRF does another Dhoom movie, they shud cast Tiger and Vidyut to play the cop and the thief.

Due to blind support from their fans, the Khans think that they are good at anything and everything.

    • John Galt 10 years ago

Agreed on Vidyut but what acting credentials does Tiger have? for all we know he may be a horrible actor.

  21. Bored 10 years ago

dont think a dhoom movie needs a good actor. vidyut isnt gr8 shakes in acting. guyz who can keep a straight face and do stunts with gud body language is gud enuf for these kind of movies imo.

aamir cud hv done much more with his time than all this.

  22. Baba 10 years ago

its a misconception that action films dont need acting. an actor who has background in martial arts/ fights knows how much he has to emote while doing action.those who do not understand the level of skillset required for a kind of stunt end up overemoting in such scenes all the time.they dont know what amount of effort goes in different kinds of moves. so they keep giving excessive expressions in each of them.

Malang Full Song with Lyrics – Dhoom:3

  24. Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

I have the lyrics ready for next item song (in any film in bollywood):

    Its called “Balam Atyachari”

    “Ooooh huuuu …Oooo huhuhuhu
    Aaah haaa
    Ooh huuu (4 times)

Balam atyachari …(female voice in top pitch)
(female chorus – balam atyachari jo tune meri maari – 6 times)

Balam atyachari – mai tere liye haari,
Aa kar le mujh se yaari, chhupa na tu chingari,

Oh ho ho ho (2 times – chorus)

I am still working on the rest of the song and mukhda etc. Its a lot of hard work, but it will be very different and creative song from what you have heard before. Its groundbreaking, trust me!!

  25. saurbh 10 years ago

Almost loved SRK in don series, in Dhoom series also he may look good if it allows less unbelievable action, rather if it will hv smthing like joker type villain…
vidyut will look good in villain role of Dhoom… He lookd good in force..

  26. saurbh 10 years ago

Almost loved SRK in don series, in Dhoom series also he may look good if it allows less unbelievable action, rather if it will hv smthing like joker type villain…
but I m sure SRK can do better than Ak in these type of roles.. Ak conciously has choosen that same face expression to look convincing. I guess big problm with ak is (frm last 2-3 movies) in the processs of perfection he forgets that u cant create emotion with some formula, rather emotion comes by instict or feel.
on different mote SRK hams in comic role, he over reacts coz I guess he cant feel the right emotion coz CE type of comedy isn’t his taste. He likes khnh type of comedy more.
vidyut will look good in villain role of Dhoom… He lookd good in force..

  27. Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

    @surabh

SRK hams in every role out there – not only comic. Period.

And when he stops hamming its considered as acting good. Period.

SRK as Heath’s joker? Sounds as laugh-worthy as Vivek saying he is being compared to Heath. Kuch bhi ….

    • Baba 10 years ago

i dont understand the obessesion with joker thta ppl have in the first place.joker is one dimensional. ras al ghul is a far more deeper and interesting character than him

  29. Bored 10 years ago

Imitating Heath’s joker or remaking clockwork orange is not going to work with our audience. So no Khan will even attempt it.

What they can try is Jack Nicholson’s joker – srk may pull it off it an OTT way.

    Dhoom Tap Song Promo 2 – DHOOM:3

  31. Anjanpur685Miles 10 years ago

This worse than previous one. Aamir looks like a kid dancing (as always)

  32. saurbh 10 years ago

@bored u got me wrong. Wat I wanted to say SRK will nt look good in physical action role but look good as philosophical type of villain. Like joker in TDk. M nt saying he can copy joker role. He cant nd also no body will like it..
@baba everybody has different taste otherwise there is no reason of existence of anybody else.

You are playing a gymnast in the film. What’s your connection with the Joker?

I am a circus artist but our kind of circus is very different. Normally we associate Indian circus with animals like hathi (elephant) and sher (lion) and in case of artists, its trapeze artists or contortionists (women who bend their body). But that is old traditional circus; the modern circus is different. It hasn’t come to India as yet. In India, if you choose to be a clown, it’s normally a joker jo topi pehen ke kuch utpatan cheezen karega, like slapstick humour. But it’s different in modern circus. There, if you choose to be a clown, you paint the character you want to play and you cannot change it in the entire life. If I am doing trapeze or any other stunt, I will do it staying into that character. I don’t know if people are going to understand that. But we have gone with the modern day clown. He is a character who may not make you laugh but he is someone who will entertain you.
